Chapter 9: A most curious trial

When I walked out of the dark corridor, I found myself in a huge forest, with plants having multiple different colors, "Whoa, this is a place no one could ever really get used to." I said to myself. I couldn't quite remember where I was, so I looked around for anything familiar, sadly, I wasn't looking where I was going, and tripped over a stump, "WHOA!" I yelled as I fell over, when I landed I must have accidentally crushed something, because I felt something poking my butt, "Ouch! What is that?" I stood up to see I had sat on some roses. Just then I saw human sized living playing cards, "Halt! In the name of the Queen!" One of them said, as they arrested me, I remembered, "I'm in Wonderland! Oh, this is not good!"

They took me to the courtyard where I was to be, as the white rabbit said, "Accused of deliberate destruction, of the ever sacred red roses! Treasured property of The Queen of Hearts!" And right on cue, that's when her fat-ness the queen appeared, "So, I understand that you were the villain responsible for killing my roses." She said coldly, "It was never my intent," I argued, "I'm new here, and was taken by the beauty of your kingdom when I accidentally tripped." I was hoping that if I were to, how Axel would've put it 'sweet talk her' she might let me go. Unfortunately, I forgot she had lead for brains, "Ha! That couldn't have sounded more fake if you tried!" She declared, "Where's the proof?" I demanded, "I decided that, that's the proof!" She barked. "Guards! OFF WITH HIS HEAD!" Just before the guards could grab me I came up with an idea, "If you're so sure I'm guilty, then why are you so afraid to let me try to prove my innocence?" I asked, I knew if I challenged her pride she'd fall for it hook line and sinker. Everyone in the court gasped at my challenge, "Me!? Afraid?! Never!" She argued, "Then prove it!" I demanded, "Let me fight for my freedom!" She called off her men, "Why should I? I already know you are guilty." She asked, "Because," I explained, "In ancient times, if two samurai believed differently about the same situation, they'd duel to decide which story was true, and which was fiction. If you're so sure I'm guilty, then simply let me fight, and watch me die." The queen of hearts thought for a moment, "Very well, if you defeat my champion, then on my honor, you shall go free. Until then, guards! Throw him in the dungeon!" She yelled. "Well, that takes care of that…for now."
