"Lily, Lily," Mary whispered whilst gently nudging my shoulder. I was curled in a ball on my four poster bed, parchment and texts books spilled around me, but nothing not even complex runes translations could take my mind off earlier events.

I turned around to look at her, my eyes stung and my dressing gown was nowhere near comforting enough. "What is it?" I asked as cheerily as possible.

"It's Snape, he's outside the portrait hole." Mary said quietly. I could see Marlene and Dorcus behind her looking solemn.

"Can you ask him to leave? I really don't want to speak with him."

"We've tried all of us, even Potter spoke with him," before I could interject, Mary carried on. "No hexes, he just told him to let you cool off. Lily, he's threatening to sleep outside there."

I sighed and rolled out of bed. I wrapped my pink dressing gown around myself a little tighter and left the dormitory without another word.

The minute I entered the common room everyone's eyes were on me. The marauders occupied a table in the far corner, all of them blatantly staring. I waked across the threadbare rug with my head held high.

"Lily you don't have to speak with him," Remus said getting up.

"No, I do."

I carried on and clambered through the portrait hole, and sure enough there he was.

"I only came out here because Mary told me you were threatening to sleep here."

"I was. I would have done. I never meant to call you a Mudblood, it just-"

"Slipped out? I had no pity for Severus, not this time. "It's too late I've made excuses for you for years. None of my friends can understand why I even talk to you. You and your precious little Death Eater friends – you see, you don't even deny it. You don't even deny that's what you're all aiming to be! You can't wait to join You-know-Who, can you?"

Sev opened his mouth, but no words came out.

"I can't pretened anymore. You've chosen your way, I've chosen mine."

"No – listen. I didn't mean-"

"to call me a mudblood? But, you call every one of my birth a Mudblood, Severus. Why should I be any different?"

And, with that last remark I turned back through the portrait hole. Sobs racked through my chest. The common room was silent, I knew they were all watching me, but I couldn't care.

"Lily," it was Remus. "Would you like a piece of chocolate?" I laughed a little, I always brought Remus chocolate after the full moon and sure enough he produced some from his cloak pocket. "Here, take some." He thrust a piece in my face which I took. "Come here," he said and pulled me into a hug. I'd never hugged Remus before, we'd never really touched, I knew he was trying hard and I appreciated this. I relaxed into him as his hands soothed my back.

"Oi, Lupin can't have all the fun," Sirius bellowed, and sure enough bounded over and proceeded to join me from behind, and without about a minute I was a marauder sandwich.

"Alright, alright guys your squashing me." I pushed out of this tight embrace.

"Thank you," I said looking up at all of them.

"Oh, it was our pleasure," James said winking at me. He was leaning against the back of a squishy armchair.

"I heard you talked to Snape." I stated – it was a fact after all.

He gulped, "erm yeah I did, just didn't want him bothering you tonight that's all. I didn't hex him or anything like that. Just talked. You have my word."

"James, its fine, thanks for trying."

"I would have gone Lilykins," Sirius piped up, "but I most certainly would have hexed the slimy git."

"Well I'm glad you didn't then, anyway I'm off to bed. Night boys."

As I ascended the stairs back to the 5th year girl's dormitory, I could hear James' voice, he was talking about me. I smiled spread across my lips, because I knew it was all good.

"How did it go," Marlene asked?

"It's done I said," packing away the parchment back into my trunk.

"Did he say anything?" Dorcus asked, she was plaiting her bushy blonde hair into a rather loose fishtail braid.

"I didn't give him a chance, there are plenty of people in this world who don't call me a Mudblood," they all shuddered the minute I mentioned the word, "so why should I accept it from him?" I shrugged climbing into bed.

"That's our girl," beamed Dorcus, "onwards and upwards, new horizons and all that mojo."

And with that my head hit the pillow and I finally went to sleep.

A/N: So, I wrote my original draft before the Deathly Hallows came out and before Pottermore was realised, so I'm just going back to make it as cannon as possible! R&R xoxo
