Percy looked thoughtful, his fingers drumming on his legs.

"Truth" he then decided. It surprised me, actually. He struck me more as the kind of guy who would chose dare, the kind of guy who was seeking adventures and could be persuaded to do some stupid shit.

Hana's eyes gleamed and she clasped her hands together. "Excellent choice! But what to ask?" She tapped her finger to her cheeks a couple of times, and scrunched her face up, making it look like she was contemplating something of great importance. This was quite typical of Hana. Always adding drama to situations if she got the chance. Not that it surprised anyone considering she's a theater kid.

"Have you ever kissed or been kissed by a girl?" She looked at him, then added "or a boy. We won't judge."

I leaned forward. The question had gotten my attention, and I was both anticipating and dreading the answer. What if he had kissed Annabeth? I know she told me last spring that she had never kissed anyone, but a lot could have changed since then and now.

Percy looked at Annabeth as if he didn't really know what to say and was looking for advise, but after seeing her expression he mostly just looked scared. I understood why when I looked at Annabeth. Her face was turning red and she had challenge in her eyes. She lifted an eyebrow.

"I uh…" he turned his head, staring at nothing. He was silent for a few seconds. Then came a quiet "once."

He kept staring at nothing, probably gathering courage, for a little while, before glancing back at Annabeth. Her mouth was shut tight, her fist clenched so much her knuckles had turned white. Her eyes were now a raging storm.

They stared at each other for a few seconds, then Annabeth moved her feet from his lap and stood up. Standing looming over all of us, she looked a bit like a goddess. A very scary one, but a goddess nonetheless.

"Really Percy. Gee thanks for telling me, your best friend in the whole wide world. I feel so loved."

Percy got up too, and reached out for Annabeth, but she took a step back before his hand reached her. "Annabeth. I -"

"Oh no, I'm not done talking. Who was it? No don't tell me. It was Rachel right? I knew it. The way she just keeps looking at you. I mean, it's not like I don't understand. You opened up a whole new world for her. Obviously she's fallen in love with you. I just wasn't sure if you were into that redheaded bi-"

"Annabeth, stop. It wasn't Rachel."

"Oh your summer fling then? Little miss perfect, from that stupid island? I bet you didn't even want to leave her, that someone forced you. That you just lied to me and everyone else. That really you would have been more than happy to stay with her for all eternity, growing stupid flowers and staring at the moon."

"Annabeth, please."

"Or maybe. Maybe it is just someone I don't know about? I wouldn't be surprised Perseus, I really wouldn't." Annabeth was looking angrier than I had ever seen her, with tears glistening in her eyes. "Maybe some random girl you met on a quest? Thalia, perhaps?"

A look of betrayal passed across Percy's face. "Gods, will you stop? I would never kiss Thalia, are you mad? She my cousin for Zeus' sake."

I looked around. Everyone looked uncomfortable. Hana was hugging herself, Liam was bouncing his leg, Cath just looked stiff and awkward. Sure, we had all had fights, but this was different. It was so intense. I think we all felt like we were watching something we shouldn't be.

"The person I actually kissed?" Percy started, voice trembling slightly, "let me tell you, I was really surprised when she did it. I actually thought she was going to slap me, because she looked so angry. But she didn't, and before I had time to process what was actually happening, something bad happened and I didn't see her for two weeks. And when I did see her again she acted as if nothing had happened. I was so confused."

Annabeth looked down, her face slowly returning to its normal color. A soft "oh" escaped her.

"Yeah," Percy answered. When he reached for her hand this time, she didn't pull it away, like before, but let him squeeze it.

We picked the game back up again, and kept playing for about half an hour. During that time we found out that Hana had never kissed anyone, most of us knew already, but Percy didn't and he was the one to ask the question, after saying he was so bad at thinking of questions, he might as well just repeat someone else's, we also made Liam go outside to sing Christmas carols at random by passers, got to watch Cath smack a handful of whipped cream in Annabeth's face, got told about that time Liam stole a bike to get to his granma's house, and about that time Cath got accidently drunk at a family gathering. I had the pleasure of confessing my love to Annabeth's neighbor's cat. It was all quite entertaining.

The game ended when Annabeth's family came home. We were all currently laughing at Percy trying to touch his nose with his tongue, when her dad stepped into the living room.

"Hey Annabeth. I see you have company." A fond smile spread across Mr. Chase's lips.

"Yup," Annabeth answered.

"I'll leave you youngster to have fun then."

"Thanks dad." Annabeth smiled up at him. "We'll just talk about that thing later then?"

Her dad nodded, and turned his gaze towards Percy. "So good to see you Percy. I'm sure it's going to be great having you stay here."

"Good to see you too Frederic. I'm so happy you will let me stay."

"Sure, sure" Frederic muttered as he stepped into the kitchen.

As soon as he was out of the living room everyone turned to Percy, surprised.

"So," I said, "you're staying, huh?"

"Yes! It'll be awesome. Just me and Annabeth, and her family."

"It sounds great." I almost sounded like I believed it.

"I hope so. I haven't really had the best of luck at my old schools, but hopefully this will be differ-"

Screams of "Peeeeeeercy" interrupted him, and in union Bobby and Matthew ran into the living room and tackled Percy in a hug.

"Hey boys," Percy laughed, and detangled himself from the mess.

"You staying here," Bobby said, "is going to be the coolest thing" Matthew continued, "EVER!" they screamed in unison. Then they high-fived Percy and practically flew up to their rooms.

Annabeth laughed, and everyone joined in shortly after. The boys could be adorable when they wanted to.

"Those boys, I swear their blood is made of red bull. Ever since they were told you were coming to stay, they've been looking forward to this day as much as they looked forward to Christmas. It's been horrible."

"My mom always tells me I'm a wonderful person, so I can see where they're coming from. She would never lie about something like that." Percy flashed her a cocky grin. "Oh, that reminds me! I promised I'd IM her when we got here. I'll be right back."

He stood up and went straight for the bathroom, which was strange. But being around Annabeth as much as I was, you sort of just accepted the strangeness, so I didn't think too much about it.

As soon as the bathroom door shut closed everyone bursted out with questions they had been holding back.

"Just how long have you known that guy?" I heard Cath ask. "And how come you've never mentioned him, and now he's suddenly going to live with you?"

"Yes, like we know you go to this camp, like all the time, and have lots of friends there and stuff. But I still thought we were your best friends? And that you would at least tell us if you had some other best friend." Liam continued, not giving Annabeth time to answer.

"So thought I." Hana said. "But seriously, why have you never told us about him?"

I didn't know what to think, so I just stayed quiet.
