Chapter 2

It had been 10 days since Lucy joined fairy tail and she still had only seen Natsu enter the guild hall once since he helped her join and that was to grab a job and teleport out. She had been getting along well with her new guild mates even some of the scary ones. She had been quite terrified especially of one wizard named Erza she specialized in gathering and fighting with rare and powerful items using requip magic. She had also made friends with the man called "Ice Princess" by Natsu. He was the Mage who had mastered every type of ice magic. She didn't know his real name because apparently he had only told his name to Natsu when they fought which apparently was a lot. It seemed that he always lost to Natsu and he was supposed to be the strongest ice Mage in the world. Lost in her thoughts Lucy didn't even realize the large shadow that slowly covered her from head to toe. Suddenly a booming voice spoke,

"Huh, who's the dumb blonde staring into space?"

Slowly and really afraid Lucy turned her head. Standing above her was the guilds 2nd most powerful member (not counting Natsu and the Master) Laxus. He seemed very intimidating with his sharp blonde hair and lightning style headphones. But then Lucy looked properly and suddenly saw a petite Mage with glasses hugging Laxus' arm tightly. Lucy recalled from her orientation that her name was Evergreen and that she followed Laxus everywhere as part of his bodyguards the Thunder Legion. Suddenly Lucy heard a familiar voice coming from a particular pink head.

"Hah! Who can you intimidate with that little Everbitch on your arm."

The doors to the guild were wide open letting in the sunlight which hurt Lucy's eyes so it was hard to see but she could never forget that voice and that distinct hair that she had been thinking about all day. Suddenly a ton of flags filled the guild hall. Just then the master walked in from the back room.

"Natsu what is this? Who's flags are these."

In the guild the master was the only one who spoke Natsu without fear.

"Hey Gramps I was just taking a stroll and like 20-30 small guilds tried to team up on me because I was alone. Well I just showed them one of my forbidden arts and they all keeled over. So I just walked into their guilds and took them over so now I own these guilds."

"Congratulations Natsu but tell me how can you be a guild master if you are bound to this guild for life?"

"Why'd you have to bring that up? Of course I remembered the contract. I just put the guilds in a subdivision so technically the guilds are yours without release until my contract ends."

At this point Lucy was lost for words. She just couldn't understand what they were talking about. Suddenly Ice Princess came behind her and started talking as if he could read her mind.

"The contract that they are talking about is that the master once saw Natsu fighting a wyvern and loved his abilities. Later that day the master approached him and they ended up fighting. Natsu lost but only because he fainted from hunger. So the master brought him back and fed him under the condition that Natsu joins the guild until he either turns 18 or defeats the master and all the 13 wizard saints.

"How strong is the master and the saints?"

"Well let's just say that even Natsu at full strength could only beat 5 or 6 of the saints and master is in the group he could beat. The strongest Saint is known as God Serena and is strong enough to completely obliterate this country and all its wizards on a whim."

"But I thought Natsu was really strong."

"He is but he only has a magic reserve big enough for two spells. But to fix that he invented a spell to drain enemies of their life and magic and he gains all of it. If he actually bothered to train himself instead of just sleeping and fighting he probably could defeat God Serena in a short battle. But in a long fight Serena is invincible. Actually gramps offered to teach Natsu a cultivation method to unlock the maximum reserve of magic power a human body can hold. But in the end Natsu refused because the training took almost 10 years to complete and he just didn't want that. So instead Natsu absorbs other wizards magic reserves through a spell he invented and eventually he could technically have an unlimited magic reserve."

Lucy just couldn't believe what she was hearing. She was hearing new and amazing things about Natsu every minute she spent as a member of the guild. With a fright she realized that she had not yet asked Ice Princess for his name and that she was being super rude to him.

"Senpai?"

Ice Princess grunted and shook himself awake

"Hmm, oh sorry, I was just kinda tired. What is it?"

"I just realized I never asked for your real name. I heard you only told Natsu your real name and I was curious as to what it was."

"Well now ur talking something I like. Are you suggesting that we spar, because that's the only way I'll tell you my real name?"

Lucy gulped with such desperation that it could be heard all the way to Cardia cathedral. She wasn't prepared to start a fight with the strongest ice mage on the planet. She kept telling herself how crazy she was as she accepted his offer, but she realized that she needed to make a name for herself in the guild if she was to ever be respected.

"Give me a couple hours to get ready and make some preparations."

"Ok sure. We can have our sparring match behind the guild whenever ur ready."

Lucy decided to go into town and check out the magic store. Upon arriving, she found that it was raining inside the store! All she could do was hang her jaw in disbelief and walk in with the jacket she was wearing over her head as she desperately needed supplies.

In that moment, Lucy had an experience she would never forget for as long as she lived.
