AN: I am not a songwriter. Most definitely not a blues songwriter (I am incapable of emotion strong enough for the blues. That's the downside of eating souls, I suppose.) I'm sure the rhythm and whatever else my musically inept mind can't fathom is all over place. Theoretically I could sing the song, but nobody wants that. Really, you don't.

But it was fun to make.

Fun fact: I actually tweaked this song the day after I published it, having thought of more lyrics the morning after.

Shepard 201: Those Cloning Blues

The Second Shepherd looked over the People, and knew that they had begun to despair of Sanctuary. For He saw them with different eyes than the First, and knew more than he. For though each incarnation of the Shepherd is the same, they are all but a facet of a greater whole.

And so the second sang unto the People the Song of Peace, and as one The People were calmed, their resolve restored. Their differences were forgotten, united once more. But those who had known the first Shepherd were amazed, for they had never known him to sing with such beauty.

"I am the Shepherd, but I am not the First." He told them. "I was not born on Earth, and my mother is long since dead. We are different, the First and I, but we are both the Shepherd."

This was how the People first knew the Shepherd to be more than mortal, but instead a god made flesh. Each of his incarnations are merely a fragment of a greater whole, sent to us to guide us on our way.

For His abilities are many, and his skill is unmatched in any endeavour. Strive ever to imitate his perfection, for he leads through guidance.

Oh, I am the Shepherd two hundred and one,
And I'll be two hundred and two when I'm done,
Oh, it aint right, but that's just my life.
And that's why I sing these cloning blues!

And I like to keep cool when I got the time,
But people keep putting me on a shrine.
Oh, it aint smart, but I play my part,
And that's why I sing these cloning blues!

Ooh yeah (Oh yeah)
Ooh no (Oh no)
They churn me out by the two and twos,
And that's why I got those cloning blues!
Ooh yeah (Oh yeah)
Ooh no (Oh no)

Oh, I got a good kid, he looks like his mom,
But when I'm dead, believe that he'll be gone.
Oh, it aint humane, but that's just the game,
And that's why I sing these cloning blues!

Oh, My forty six 'somes have been the same,
Since the day my mamma up and ran from her shame,
Oh, it aint nice, but that's the price.
And that's why I sing these cloning blues!

Ooh yeah (Oh yeah)
Ooh no (Oh no),
I may not like it, but what can I do?
And that's why I got those cloning blues!
Ooh yeah (Oh yeah)
Ooh no (Oh no)

Ooh, I hope I can say without bein' rude,
That I had no mamma; I was born inna tube.
Oh it aint fair, but I don't care.
And that's why I sing these cloning blues!

Oh now, people see me but not my face,
'Cause I got the oldest genes in the human race.
Oh it aint kind, but it's on my mind,
And that's why I sing these cloning blues!

Ooh yeah (Oh yeah)
Ooh no (Oh no)
I can't fight fate, so what's the use?
So that's why I got those cloning blues!
Ooh yeah (Oh yeah)
Ooh no (Oh no)

I can't walk the streets without people givin' thanks,
'Cause when it comes to religion I got highest rank,
Oh, it aint true, but that's who I am to you,
And that's why I sing these cloning blues!

And that's all true, but aint it strange?
That my personality and talents have changed.
Oh it's a sham, but this is who I am,
'Cause I'm a clone of that Shepard-man!
