Uchiha Sasuke growled low in his throat as he prowled the ruins of the place he once called heaven, hell, and limbo. Tears blurred the vision of his dark eyes.
He knew not where the pain in his chest came from, just that his knees scraped gravel. He'd longed for so long to see the dogs of Konoha put down and the city herself fall beneath his boots...but why did it cripple what little heart he still held? Why did he long to see the faces of those he once knew? He had come with one simple purpose: end the life of his only friend...
With shaking hands, he dropped the hood to his shoulders. No longer did he wish to destroy Konoha or her children. He no longer wished for anything at that moment.
He cried. Tears streamed his face in torrents as the night sky darkened all around him. For the first time since the night his world shattered, he cried...
Birds keened their nightsongs as the night screamed her fury. Dissonance rang through the air from the combination of storm and song. Bittersweet notes clang harshly yet beautifully against the agonized wails. A beautiful symphony of peace and discord...of hatred...of love...of indifference...
A brief smile graved the last Uchiha's face before rain caressed his face. The soft rain quickened its kisses upon his face as he slid down and collapsed onto his stomach. He was soo...tired.
"At least the rain hides the tears..." With one last glance cast to stormy skies, Uchiha Sasuke was finally home.
