Haru came to sleepily his head fuzzy and his body heavy. The sun was peaking in through the curtains hitting his face. He turned to look at the shark toothed boy sleeping behind him.
Rin was still fast asleep next to him his face peaceful. Unlike his usual stubborn look he actually looked gentle. His maroon hair was tumbled across his face slightly; his long eyelashes brushing gently across his face. His lips slightly opened as he breathed gently in his sleep.
Haru gazed at him gently for a while before sitting up quietly. He might as well make some tea to help wake himself up. He had a feeling Rin may have developed a taste for coffee while over here.
Slowly he got out of the bed rubbing his eyes as he sat on the edge. His body was sweaty and hot from the heat outside; he needed a shower bad. Compared to Japan the heat was more intense here.
He turned to face the maroon haired swimmer beside him. He hated to wake Rin when he was sleeping so peacefully; but he hated to waste the day. If only they had more time so he could enjoy this moment.
"Hey Rin..." he said gently starting to shake him. He was the only one who knew his way around here; so he was his tour guide. He couldn't exactly leave without him; he was a stranger here.
Rin moaned sleepily but remained asleep. He was eager to stay in the pleasant unconscious state of sleep a while longer. They were going to be here for at least a week there was no rush.
Haru sighed heavily and shook him a little harder "Rin you need to get up" he said firmly. They had slept long enough; they needed to do something with the day instead of sleep around.
Slowly Rin opened one eye glaring at him crossly. He sighed wearily "What time is it?" he muttered sleepily. Why did Haru have to be such an early bird even when on holiday?
"9:30 am" Haru said bluntly. They had slept enough; and their bodies needed to get used to the time difference. He had to admit he felt very dizzy due to the time difference messing with his brain.
Rin lay there quietly thinking this over in his head. He needed to get up and show Haru around; but he was still really tired from the flight. God damn time differences messing with his head.
"I can make coffee" Haru soothed kindly. There was a coffee maker in the room which came with milk and different brands. He knew that would make Rin feel better about being roused from sleep.
Rin perked up a little hearing this; coffee sounded great right now. It worked faster than tea when it came to your morning boost. He raised his head slightly to look at Haru "Make it strong and I'll get in the shower" he said bluntly.
"Deal" Haru agreed. If it meant Rin would get up and they could sight see he was happy. He didn't want to spend the entire day in bed. He did plenty of that at home during the summer.
Rin sighed heavily and eventually sat up wearily. He rubbed his eyes with his hand sleepily and yawned. And here he hoped he could get a lie in on this holiday; obviously not.
Haru got up slowly and walked towards the coffee maker "I'll make enough for a few cups. You go get ready" he said firmly. He would drag him out of bed if he had to if it meant he got up.
Rin blinked at him sleepily and frowned; Haru acted more like his mum than a teenager. He wondered if he was like this with all his friends or just him. God he felt sorry for the others during summer holidays.
He eventually climbed out of bed and made his way to the bathroom slowly. His body felt heavy and his brain was fuzzy. Every part of him screamed for more sleep; but he knew Haru would kick his ass if he did.
As he closed the door behind him he switched on the shower head and started to strip. The words Haru said last night still buzzed freshly in his brain.
"You were so cute even back then"
Rin squinted his eyes thoughtfully and gripped his shirt tightly in his hands. Had Haru been serious or had he just been imagining it? He sighed heavily and started to remove the rest of his clothes to bathe.
He had been in love with Haru since they were kids and was deeply hurt when he wasn't as good as him. He had tried all his life to reach the same level as Haru and was upset to learn he had quit. Unlike himself or others; Haru was a natural when it came to swimming. He didn't even have to try as hard when it came to swimming. Most people would dream to have skills like he had.
This is what had annoyed Rin so much; the fact that Haru had such skills and wasted it by abandoning his dream. When he had started to pick it up again he had been so happy; to know he could be close to Haru once more.
The way the water dripped off his body when he got out of the bath, pool or ocean. The way his eyes lit up around water or when he was nearby. The way he swam so effortlessly or seemed at one with the water; it was truly stunning.
Rin felt his cheeks burn and he clicked his teeth crossly. He really had it bad for Haru but he didn't know if Haru felt the same. He acted so indifferent to everything that it was hard to know what he was truly feeling.
He continued stripping off his clothes and climbed under the hot spray of the shower. It would help him think and freshen his mind. He couldn't act like this in front of Haru; or he would read him so easily.
"What's going on with me?" he muttered quietly as the water ran over his body. He was always so in control of his emotions; but lately he was losing it.
a short while later
Haru was sat on the bed drinking tea while the coffee machine came to its peak. It would be done soon so Rin could have a coffee when he got out. He hoped he wouldn't be much longer as he wanted a shower himself.
Suddenly the bathroom door opened and Haru felt his cheeks heat red and warmth radiate from them. He used all his mental strength to stay focused and not react to the sight in front of him.
Rin was stood in the doorway of the shower a towel wrapped around his toned waist. Water was rippling off his toned muscular build and his head was covered by the towel he was using.
His body was a fucking masterpiece; work of the gods. So chiselled and well built like a sculpture. He wanted so bad to run his hands over every inch of him and feel it under his hands.
Rin caught him staring and blinked innocently. Since they came on this trip Haru had been acting pretty weird even for him. "Hey Haru is something wrong?" he asked curiously. Why was he staring at him like that?
Haru's blush deepened and he looked away quickly. If Rin knew what was on his mind he would tease the crap out of him. "Nothing's wrong; your just imagining it" He retorted bluntly his tone stubborn.
Rin frowned squinting his eyes; he was definitely hiding something from him. He slowly pulled his hair towel from his head sighing heavily. He turned to the black haired swimmer crossly and moved quickly towards the bed. He wasn't going to let Haru avoid his questions any more.
Before Haru could react he was pinned to the bed by Rin who stood above him in nothing but a towel. His tea spilled on the floor but he ignored it; too mesmerised by the guy above him.
"That's bullshit. Don't think I don't remember what you said to me last night!" Rin snapped crossly his own cheeks flushing. He couldn't just throw it at him and act like it didn't happen! That was just playing dirty and such a dick move.
Haru stiffened; so he had heard what he said last night. Why did he have to go and open his mouth like that?! Why couldn't he just keep his mouth shut like he always did?
"Ever since last night you've been acting weird. Acting all bossy, avoiding my gaze, ignoring me..." Rin stated crossly hurt hinted in his tone. Haru was the one that started all this not him; so how dare he act like he was the villain.
"You were the one that called me cute Haru not the other way around! So don't you try and blame me for this!" Rin said bitterly. He wasn't going to let Haru blame him for something he started.
Haru's face turned practically beetroot and steam erupted from his head. So Rin really had heard what he said last night. FUCK! Now he really had no way out of this.
Water droplets dripped off of Rin's hair onto the black haired boys cheeks gently. But they didn't care; they had more important things on their mind. They stared into each other's eyes intently; their eyes locked on each other not wanting to look away. Rin's eyes filled with hurt and sadness; Haru's filled with shock and affection.
Rin hesitated then took a deep breath "Haru...how do you feel about me?" he asked firmly.
For the longest time he had sensed tension between the two of them. First it started off as pure rivalry; but now it felt different. The tension felt more heated; passionate even. And he found himself wanting the other swimmer.
He had the feeling that Haru liked him too but didn't want to admit it. When he was around him his eyes lit up and he looked the way he did around water; happy. But he wasn't sure; however he hoped it was true.
He pinned his eyes on Haru intently; his purple eyes shining and filled with hope and desire. He wanted Haru so badly but didn't know if he wanted him the same way; romantically or sexually.
Haru stared back at Rin getting lost in his maroon eyes. They shone in the light and reminded him of jewels; they were the only part of Rin that showed his emotions honestly. He gripped the sheets in his hands tightly and swallowed nervously. How could he say clearly how he felt about him?
How sorry he was; how bad he felt for hurting Rin. How he felt guilty for causing him the pain that he had as a child. But how guilty he felt for being the reason Rin had been hurt; and that when he left his heart had broken.
"I...I like you Rin. I think I've always liked you ever since we were kids. I guess I never could admit it because I didn't know how to say it. My feelings for you aren't the same as the water; they are more complex..." Haru started awkwardly avoiding his gaze.
His feelings for the water were more spiritual than anything. He felt he could relax in it; he felt his darker emotions slip away. His mind wondered and everything else seemed to slip away; like nothing else could touch him.
But for Rin it was much more different. He kept him on the edge; unpredictable and wild like a storm. His cocky attitude flustered him but his deeper hidden emotions brought out his tenderness. He brought out the more complex emotions he kept hidden; but above all he just wanted to protect Rin's heart the one he kept locked away.
Rin stared at him in awe not knowing what to say or how to act. Haru had been in love with him for the past 8 years and he never knew?! How had he never realized that his feelings had been mutual?
"...I..I was upset when you left because...because I wanted to see you smile again..." Haru said sadly looking away. He had always hated that the last face he saw of Rin was his hurt and angry expression of losing.
Rin looked at him sadly his chest tightening. While he had been friends with the entire swim team as kids; Haru had always been the one closest to his heart next to Sousuke.
He felt awful for leaving him behind and leaving him with the regret that he had caused the pain in his heart. But he had to; he needed to prove himself to him. He had wanted to get better so that he could stand beside Haru and be with him always.
"Haru..." he said gently his voice tender. He wasn't mad at him anymore; if anything he was glad to know his feelings were returned.
Haru turned to look at Rin cautiously his eyes filled with hesitation. Was he going to apologize or cry? He was stunned to be instead met with the lips of Rin slamming onto his softly but passionately.
Rin closed his eyes and locked lips with the raven haired boy beneath him. The water dripped slowly in beads off his bangs onto Haru's cheeks but the latter didn't care.
He tasted salty like mackerel and yet fresh like the ocean. It was a strange yet additive taste and he wanted more. He leaned into the kiss deeper wanting to taste more and convey his feelings harder.
Haru's eyes were filled with shock as he was met with the lips of Rin upon his own. He had imagined this happening so many times and yet it was really happening. His heart raced in his chest and his mind went black.
"Rin is...Rin is...kissing me?!" he thought to himself anxiously. His lips were much softer than he expected. He felt Rin kissing him harder and eventually closed his eyes and retuned his kiss.
His lips were soft and tasted like soy sauce and ginger; like the flavouring he had on his steak. His teeth were sharp and pointy; but so smooth and so clean to the touch.
This felt even better than he expected it to and he didn't want it to end. He wanted to feel more of Rin's lips against him. "Rin...I like Rin..." Haru thought to himself quietly as he moaned into the kiss.
Rin felt the raven responding to his kiss and complied; he had wanted to do this for so long and now he could. "Haru...finally I can taste you..." he whispered mentally.
