Gabriella and Troy sat in the back seats of Chad's car. He brought it the summer before their senior year, after he had gained enough money from working at Lava Springs.
Chad and Taylor sat in the front bickering every now and then about random things, such as what music they should listen to. They were all on their way to their future their life; University of Albuquerque.
Today Troy, Chad, Jason and Zeke were trying out for the Red Hawks, U of A's basket ball team. Zeke wasn't sure of he wanted to be on the team, sure most way through high school it had been his life, but now he could bake, it was what he loved. Troy wasn't sure wither or not to be on the team or not as well, he loved basketball, but he also loved Gabriella and after the summer last year he wasn't sure if him and the Red Hawks would be a good match if he still wanted him and Gabriella.
Even with all this uncertainty they all decided that they would try out for the team, even if it was for nothing more than old times sake, and non of them wanted to grow up wondering if they could make it or not.
While the boys were trying out for the team, the girls, plus Ryan, would be looking around the campus signing everybody up for dorm rooms and finding out what was around the campus. They were all very excited because they were getting a glimpse into what life will be like after the summer.
As Chad pulled up into a parking space in the U of A parking lot, they all grabbed their stuff and got out the car. In other car parking spaces around them Sharpay and Ryan pulled up in her pink convertible and Zeke, Jason and Kelsi pulled up in Jason's silver 4X4. Everybody walked over to Chad's car.
"Hello," Sharpay said in a bubbly mood, and everyone replied with hellos and Hi's. Troy looked at his watch and realised the time.
"Guys, we better go; there is only fifteen minutes until tryouts start." He said to all the boy's, Apart from Ryan. The girls stood there after the boy's walked off, wondering what to do.
"Well I think we should get dorms sorted first so we get good ones, then look around the campus and the stuff around it." Taylor said and everybody agreed. They walked into the main area of buildings. They were all situated in a court with a water fountain and benches in the middle, some steps went from the buildings to the Waterfall. They all walked towards a large building with a banner hanging on the out side.
'Main Office' the banner read. That was what they needed to get their dorms, they walked into the grand building that was been used as the office for sign up week. A small board stood in front of them with arrows in different directions.
'Main Reception'
'Course sign up' it said with an arrow pointing straight on.
'Student chat'
'Tours' this time the sign was to the left.
An Arrow pointed right with the words
'Dorm room sign up'
'Clubs and extra activities'
That was what they needed the dorm room sign up. They walked along a corridor with grand paintings in large gold frames. They walked into a large room buzzing with people. A woman in her late thirties was standing by a table. She had leaflets and sign up sheets. She had displays of happy smiling people all around her.
"I think that is where we need to go." Kelsi said when she saw the woman that was dressed in a small but fashionable suit. They all nodded and walked over to her.
"Hello. Are you here to look at Dorm rooms?" the lady asked in a very professional voice.
"Umm, yes we are." Taylor said "Our boyfriends are playing basketball and we would like to sign us all up for dorm rooms."
"Are you freshmen next year?" the older woman asked and saw Taylor nod. "Well it is compulsory here for you to stay in dorm rooms for your first year." She stared explaining "We have boys' and Girls' dorm rooms and housing available for married couples or couples with children. Apart from that we put you in separate rooms." The woman told them "are any of you married or have children?" she asked and they all quickly shock their heads.
"Well, do you have any idea of the sort of rooms you like?" The woman asked
"Well we have 4 girls and 5 boys." Taylor said.
"May I suggest you having two double rooms and a two and a three for the boys?" She suggested.
"That sounds sensible." Taylor said and the woman nodded picking up some papers.
"You are going to have to fill in paper work for each of the rooms. There are some questions in there you might want to wait until the boys are here for, but you don't have to."
They decided they would fill them in now. Everybody filled the information about them selves and their boyfriends, apart from Ryan who just did his. After half an hour the papers were filled out and they all decided to have a look around the campus.
Meanwhile the boys were playing basketball together two on two. The coach was watching all the small games going on a clipboard in hand. A whistle hung around his neck on a thin black string. He was stood on the bleachers watching a group of friends trying out for the team as well; one made a shot and missed by miles. The coach then quickly noted something down on his paper and looked at the next group They seemed to be playing well he thought and carried on watching for a while. One of the guys stood out from the rest of his team. He had brown hair and a pale-ish face. He shot the ball and it went straight through with nothing but net. He wrote something about this boy on his paper as well.
He then turned to look at Troy and his friends, they all played well but there was something else about them. Their passion for the game, he could see they loved basketball and everything about it. The foundation of their friendship was probably basketball. It was kind of like him when he was younger; he liked the look of them. He decided he would keep an eye on them. They could be exactly what the team needed.
