Night was approaching, and Link, Zelda and Sapphire were all done making their preparations. They had met up at the usual spot, right outside the gates of the castle.
"Sapphire, you sure your step-father won't wake up and notice your gone?" Link said with a slightly worried tone. "Nah don't worry. Once he's out he is out for the entire night. And besides, I have my bed set up to look like I'm in it. I highly doubt we'll have to worry about him." Link nodded and said "Alright, well are we all set to go?" Both Zelda and Sapphire replied with a yes and they quickly made their way out of town before they closed the entrance to town for the night.
After getting into Hyrule Field, Link said "Alright guy's stick close to me, we never know when enemies might appear…" Zelda replied, "Yeah we know Link, we're not worried at all with you by our sides!" Sapphire nodded and smiled.
Zelda began telling Sapphire their course of action "Now, to get to the Zora's Domain there's two possible routes. One by following the River that passes by the entrance to Kakariko Village, and the other that were taking. Right in the heart of Lake Hylia…"
Link spoke up saying, "Wait…What is Sapphire can't swim!?"
Sapphire looked a little worried all of a sudden and replied, "Yeah…I've never even thought about swimming before."
Zelda shook her head and said "Don't worry Sapphire, as long as you have the courage and resolves in your heart. You will be fine. And maybe if we're lucky, your Zora instincts will kick in!" Sapphire looked a little confused…"Instincts?" "Yes, Zora's are amazing swimmers." Sapphire hoped that she would be able to swim…At least good enough to get to where the Zora's are.
After a fair amount of walking, Sapphire could finally see Lake Hylia off in the distance… It was beautiful from just the bit she could make out. "Alright, were almost there!" Exclaimed Sapphire as she picked up her pace. Link said happily, "Wow, I can't remember when Sapphy looked this happy!" "Neither can I!" laughed Zelda. They all ran with excitement towards Lake Hylia. Sapphire ran and ran until Lake Hylia's water touched her feet… She stood looking out at the water, looking at the horizon and the stars that were reflecting off the water. It was absolutely breath-taking.
Both Link and Zelda felt like they were seeing Lake Hylia for the first time. They watched as their dear friend finally seem like she had a chance at finding out the truth about her life. Sapphire turned around and said "Alright! Show me where to go!" Zelda stepped forward onto a different surface that came out of the ground. It had pillars around it too. "I'm standing on the entrance right now!" Sapphire couldn't believe it was so close… "Really? She bent over looking under the water. And could see an opening. "Is that the way in?" "It sure is!" Zelda said as she jumped into the water. Link joined her. "Jump in Sapphire!" Link said.
Sapphire was a little reluctant at first, but decided to start out slow. She eased her foot in, then her legs, then the rest of her body. She was used to being immersed in water by taking baths. But this was totally different. Zelda used her arms to signal her to come over, and said "Alright, just try to use your arms and legs to swim over to us. We'll be here to help you, and it's not very deep." Sapphire felt a little bit of relief and without thinking plunged into the water and began swimming over to them. She indeed, seemed to be a natural. "See! I knew she'd be great!" exclaimed Zelda. Link replied by saying "Do you wanna try sticking your head under water?" Sapphire silently nodded and slowly put her head into the water.
A cold rush went all over her face as she felt the water cover her head. After a few moments, she opened her eyes. Everything was crystal clear and beautiful. She then came back up.
"I think I'm ready" Link and Zelda nodded and Link said "Alright, follow us!" Link and Zelda dove down to the hole underneath the water, and Sapphire followed, sort of struggling to keep up but doing good for a first timer. Zelda made a pointing motion at the hole and they began swimming into it, Sapphire's heart began racing. Was the place to answer all her question really going to be through that door?
