Chapter Two: Rising

Disclaimer: Anything you recognise is Jo's. (why!)

It had been two weeks since he left. She was just now getting used to the fact that he wasn't coming didn't need him, they were doing just fine on their own.

But she knew she wasn't fooling anyone.

She was falling apart, desperate without him.

Five years before, she never thought she would miss that crooked smile he gave her when she was studying or reading, or the spark in his eyes when they were having one of their daily rows. She'd never known she would miss how he laughed after SHE laughed at his joke or expression, or the awkward silence after an argument or misunderstanding.

She'd never known she'd miss…him.

Then again, she didn't think he would ever leave her….hem, hem, sorry…..them.

She thoughjt he knew what he had promised. She thought Harry was his best friend. She thought he cared about them; thought he cared about her.

All in all, Hermione Granger thought a lot of things.

Harry was keeping watch outside as she pretended to sleep, really thinking about how lonely it was to, well, be alone.

Just then, a soaking wet harry came in. 'There's someone here to see you", he said.

And there he was. At the entrance of the tent, dripping with water. He came back.

Her friend.

Her companion.

Her soul.

Her heart.

Her Ron.
