*Zelda's P.O.V.*

"Well, Link, since the story seems to interest you so much, why don't you finish telling it?"

'Idiot.'

I listened to the class's laughter as I continued to take notes on Mr. Kira's lesson. Only someone like him could get called out on something like this.

'He probably won't even be able to tell the story.'

To my surprise, though, he was able to.

'He's still an idiot.'

Once school was over, I packed up, left the classroom, and went down the hall to another. I was the only one out of my group of friends that was placed in Mr. Kira's classroom. There were only two classrooms for students aged sixteen through eighteen, since it was the smallest group of students compared to the younger ones. And my other two close friends were placed in Mrs. Ire's classroom.

"Oh, thanks for waiting on us, Zelda!"

My friends, Tara and Brooke, stood in front of me with a smile.

"No problem."

"We're still coming over to your house right? Because I still need help understanding this whole math thing," Brooke mentioned. "Also with history. Because remembering everything about history is difficult."

I rolled me eyes. "Everything about school is too difficult for you. But yeah, you're both still coming over."

"Cool."

"So what about you, Zelda? You'll be turning eighteen before us."

After about an hour, Tara and I had given up on helping Brooke with schoolwork and started talking about our futures. Specifically, we were talking about the eighteenth birthday tradition, which was when a couple announces that they've been dating. Initially, it's kept a secret between the couple and their families, and maybe close friends, until the oldest turns eighteen. It had become such a part of Graces tradition to the point that it's looked down upon if the person isn't in a relationship. I personally hated it, but I had no power to remove it, nor would I ever will.

"Tara, you know exactly how I feel about that."

"Still, do you have anyone in mind?"

"Isn't the whole point to keep it a secret? Even if I did, I wouldn't tell you."

Tara sighed. "Fine. Anyway, I have to go. I have somewhere to be."

"And where is that?" Brooke asked.

"Somewhere." She repeated and left. Soon after, my grandfather, the mayor of the town, came into the room and informed me of my task.

'Why couldn't have Grandfather asked Tomas instead? I mean, it would have been more convenient that way.'

After Link finally agreed, Tomas backed away from him and I led the way to our house. It was the largest in the village, but that's only because my family have been the mayors of Graces as far back as I know, and therefore, richer.

Once there, we walked inside and headed straight for Grandfather's study, which was right on the first floor. He was sitting there with his reading glasses on and doing paperwork. A small candle was lit and it let off enough light just to see.

"Grandfather?" I spoke.

He looked up at me. "Ah, Zelda! You've returned. Did you do what I asked?"

"Yes, sir."

"Good." He smiled. Tomas pushed Link forward and left the room. I turned around and started to leave also, but Grandfather called me back.

"No, Zelda, this meeting includes you, too."

'Great.' "Okay." I sat down in a chair and waited foot Grandfather to speak. Link looked quite uncomfortable as well as irritated. However, he also sat down.

"You two are getting to that age where you need to be told about what happened to the royal family's bloodline, along with the hero of time's."

'And this is already confusing.'

"Us two? Why just us two?" Link interrupted.

Grandfather sighed. "You will figure it out once I am done telling you. Now, this is the story of what happened to them. A long time ago, after Thwin's son, Rugo, had tried to capture Hylians in order to wipe out the royal family bloodline, most of the Hylians had fled towards the woods near a village that used to exist called Ordon. That village, way back before the time of the dictators, used to deliver gifts to the royal family of Hyrule. But the village didn't last for long after Thwin took over. He had kept using their resources, eventually driving them out.

"Anyway, the Hylians thought about moving deeper into the forest to stay hidden from Rugo, and they built a small village. Unfortunately, it didn't last very long, but they managed to stay hidden throughout Rugo's reign. They eventually moved to a new location right on the edge of Hyrule Field to establish a village, now known as Graces. We've lived here ever since."

He stopped for a moment.

"Now, even though we live in peace now, it wasn't always like that. Right after the old Hylians established the first village, there had been a long debate of whether Rugo was successful in trying to wipe out the royal family bloodline."

I spoke. "Grandfather, may I ask a question?"

He looked at me and gave a small sigh. He hated being interrupted. "What is it?"

"If they were having that much difficulty just trying to figure out what happened to them, why didn't they just check birth records? Wouldn't it be stated on there whether or not if they were part of the royal family?"

"Back then, it wasn't as simple as checking a birth record. They had lost those when they ran away. However, there were a select few who did know about the royal family, but we'll talk about that later. Let's see, Zelda, I know you know the legend, but do you, Link?"

Link shrugged. "Depends on which legend you're talking about."

"I'm talking about the one where the young swordsman dressed in green triumphed over the great evil threatening to overrule the Sacred Realm."

Link gave Grandfather a nod. "Who doesn't know it? It's taught in school all the time. Though, there's never been names involved, and even though the teachers say it happened, I don't think it did."

I looked at Link. Did he just doubt the legend?

Grandfather sighed and shook his head. "You probably doubt many things, lad, if you doubt the legend. It happened, alright, and plenty of times at that. Here is what I'm getting at. The Hylians in the past used that legend to try and find the hero and the princess that are spoken of. Unfortunately for them, it never worked. They wouldn't be able to figure out who would be able to take down the evil. But, today, that's coming to a change."

I raised an eyebrow. "You mean, someone found who they could be?"

"Well, it wasn't necessarily found, Zelda. It was reborn into each new generation, one after the other. The only reason the Hylians couldn't find the royal family was because they kept their identity hidden. They have lived among the Hylians for the whole time the dictators have been ruling. This is only known because it's been passed down through the royal family itself!"

I gave a confused expression. "What are you getting at?'

"In the legend, Link, you said names were never told, right?"

Link nodded.

"Well, that's for a reason. False hope isn't needed here. We didn't want them to think that just because someone had the same name that they would return Hyrule to them."

"What do you mean by 'we'?"

Grandfather looked at me. Instead of answering my question, he continued. "Only two certain people are worthy to have those names spoken in the legend. Those two people are you."

Suddenly, it clicked. "Wait...you mean...?"

"That's right, Zelda. Me, you, and Tomas are currently the remaining members of the Royal family, and Link, you are a direct descendent of the Hero of Time himself."

Link stood up. "You've confused me with someone else. I'm not descended from any hero, I'm just like everyone else, descended from the poor Hylians that were kicked out from their homes a few hundred years ago. Besides, how did you even come up with this information? None of it makes sense."

Grandfather reached under his desk and pulled out an old looking book. When he opened it, it folded out like a large banner.

"This here is a family tree. To be specific, it's the royal family's. Your aunt holds the hero's family tree. Right here is proof of what I explained. The same story was passed on to your father and your aunt. Eventually, her son will be told, too. But you two are the only ones told about who you actually are. What I mean by that is everyone else in our family knows only that they're descendants of certain people. For the two of you, however…you both have a chance of being the saviors of all the Hylians here."

"What makes you think that I'm going to be this 'savior'? Savior of what?"

"Yeah, Grandfather, what exactly are you saying?" I asked.

"Did I not say what? My apologies. A plan has been passed down through our family ever since they were kicked out all those years ago. That plan is about taking Hyrule back from the dictators let it belong to our family again. But, we've had to wait for the right people. Only two certain people could have the courage and wisdom to face them."

"Well, how do you know it's me and not someone else, like...Dan, for instance?"

"Link, no one in your family has been left-handed and that well of a swordsman at the same time for a very long time. The hero of time was left handed and the best swordsman there could've been! Plus, you look exactly like him."

"Well, that doesn't mean anything! Whatever. This has been a waste of time. It makes no sense. And that book…it's not enough proof." Link turned around and left.

I looked at Grandfather. "Is it really true?"

"Yes, Zelda. You are descended from the royal family and Link is descended from the hero of time."

"So...what do you mean by giving them false hope if we had their names?"

Grandfather coughed. "Well, in the legends, it's always the hero Link and Princess Zelda who saved Hyrule from evil. These days, no one remembers those names, which helps in avoiding false hope."

"And you think it's me and him?"

He nodded his head.

I hesitated. "But...how can you be so sure? How do you know you haven't confused us with someone else? As much as I hate to say this, I agree with Link. He had a good point."

He shrugged. "I don't know for absolutely sure, but I've seen the characteristics in you both. There are records of those people in the past that are extremely similar to yours and his. Just take a look at this." He handed me the book. "I know that it's confusing with the way I explained it, but I'm sure it will make sense once you look this through."

I took the book. "I don't really know what to say...I guess I'll have to think on it. But, what about him? And does Tomas know these details?"

Grandfather took off his glasses. "Well, all I can say about Link is that his aunt is going to have to discuss it with him. I would much rather be his father discussing it with him, but you know...and as for Tomas, he just knows that he's descended from the royal family and Link's family is descended from the hero of time."

"Oh. Okay. Well, I think I'm going to turn in. Goodnight."

"Goodnight, Zelda. Sweet dreams."

I left his office and went to my bedroom. I found Tomas waiting outside my door.

"So...what do you think?"

I sighed, still too confused to talk about anything else. "I'm tired...can it wait 'till morning?"

"Isn't it awesome that we're pretty much royalty?" He had the biggest smirk on his face.

"Don't let it get to your head, big guy." I laughed and walked into my room. He followed me in.

"No, get out. I want sleep."

"Okay, fine. We'll talk in the morning." He left the room. I closed my door and changed into pajamas. I looked at the book that Grandfather gave me.

'I still don't understand any of this,' I thought before going to sleep.
