Chapter 2: The Letter -REVISED-

Finding the pervert monkey was a tough job, but it was eventually done.

Team Natsu, Wendy, and Carla were all heading back to Fairy Tail, all except Lucy.

The whole entire time, she was desperately hiding behind Wendy's back. As they would walk across the sidewalks, people would frequently stare at hiding blonde.

All Lucy could do in the meantime was think of how other people would see her: "Hey, who is that boy hiding behind that cute little girl's back? Wait… Is that even a boy?"

She could only imagine how people would see her now.

The busty blonde told the rest of Team Natsu, Wendy, and Carla, that she would go home and rest. They all agreed, waved their goodbyes and parted.

Her friends didn't really care about the haircut as much as Lucy did, but they decided they should just let her be for a while.

As Lucy was going to her apartment, she hurried along the trail and hid in the shadows so nobody would see her. It was hard not having somebody to hide behind, especially if you were trying to hide an embarrassing haircut. She even hid from the men on the boat who would tell her to be careful when walking on the edge of the road.

When the brown eyed girl finally got in her apartment, she closed the door and sighed dramatically.

She can't live the rest of her live like this, can she?

The girl decided it would be a good time to take a bath and relax. She needed to think and rest. Hopefully a certain somebody wouldn't pounce in on her.

Lucy wrapped her body in a towel and walked out of the bathroom as she finished her bath.

She stood in front of a mirror and pouted.

"Ah! I'll call Cancer, he probably has some do-hickey thing that might make my hair grow back!" she exclaimed, her mood quickly changing.

"I summon, the gate of the crab, Cancer!" she exclaimed as the key from her hands floated into mid air.

"Hello there Miss Lucy -ebi," Cancer bowed as his eyes widened slightly when he took notice of blonde's hair.

Lucy noticed, "Hey! Stop staring at my hair! Anyways, do you have some kind of thing to make my hair grow back?!"

"Sorry, I don't have anything like that -ebi," he replied.

Lucy's happy mood turned into a depressed one as she started sulking in a corner growing mushrooms.

"Uh… I will go back, see ya later -ebi." The presence then vanished as the crab's key suddenly appeared in her pouch which was stored inside her side table next to the bed.

Lucy knew what she had to do next, since Cancer can't grow her hair back, she will desperately search for anything with a hoodie to cover up her boyish haircut.

The female ran all over her apartment, with the bath towel still on, as she paced back and forth, trying to find any type of clothing that might be of use to her to hide her oh so horrible hair.

She looked in her closet. Nope, nothing good there. Under the bed? Nope. In the toilet? Nope. Okay, now she was just plain desperate.

"How can I not have one single shirt or jacket with a hoodie?" she whined to herself.

She went back to her closet to stuff in all her random articles of clothing when a white, crumpled letter fell out of a ripped jeans's pocket.

The girl raised an eyebrow. "What could that be… ?"

Lucy took hold of the letter as she walked over to her bed and sat down.

She started to open the letter gently, trying not to break it as it looked very fragile.

As her hands slowly ripped the letter open, the blonde tried to decipher who it came from. A signature at the bottom of the letter answered her question.

"From Your Cousin, Haruhi F." Lucy read aloud.

Lucy pondered for a while as an index finger drummed on her chin. She had a cousin named Haruhi? How could she have forgotten?!

"Ah! Haruhi, my cousin who dreamt of getting a scholarship to attend that snotty school for the rich!" Lucy remembered as she memorized how Haruhi was much smaller and younger than she was at the time they met. The little brown haired girl would always express her dream of attending the pink colored school with a scholarship, saying, "I'm gonna show 'em brats you don't have to be rich to be smart!"

Lucy glanced at the date when the letter was sent. "Over seven years ago? Ehhhhh?!" she screamed as she rapidly skimmed through the rest of the letter.

"Haruhi is doing great, well that was more than seven years ago," she thought out loud.

The busty woman started calculating how many years it has been since they last seen each other.

Haruhi was seven and Lucy was thirteen before Lucy had to move away with her parents to the magic world where they originally came from. Though, the whole different world was kept secret from the non-magic one, for special reasons.
They were separated for three years after Lucy moved away, then here came the seven year gap.

Lucy added the many numbers up, "Three plus seven equals ten, so if I add ten years to what Haruhi's age was back then… Haruhi would be seventeen by now!" Lucy exclaimed as she held up a confident finger.

She knew what this meant, Haruhi was in high school already, but did she get a scholarship and go to a snotty school meant for the rich? Lucy knew she was twenty-three years-old theoretically. But in mind and body, she was sixteen years-old with her birthday coming up.

Lucy sat in silence as she thought for a while.

"Maybe I should visit Haruhi… Should I?"

"Maybe I should!" she shouted. "Okay, I will!"

Just then she realized she would still have nothing to wear that would hide her boyish haircut.

And thus, the gloomy sulking corner was created!
