Volume 1, Chapter 2
Adam finished walking out of his deceased family's compound. Nothing major has changed, he was still wearing his modified mask, but now, he had a simple black duffle bag slung over his shoulder, with spare clothes and some bullets for his rifle.
As he was walking through the area, which was heavily condensed with overgrown trees, shrubs and even grass. He stopped and turned to face one of the larger trees.
"Come out." Adam said simply with some heat in his voice as he felt someone's eyes on his.
When that simple statement was heard, the trunk of the tree moved, and the camouflage wore off and revealed it to be another White Fang member that was higher ranked than the grunts.
"What are you doing here? Ilia." Adam said as he turned his head slightly to look at Ilia who just got rid of all her camouflaged and revealed herself fully.
Ilia is a young woman and a chameleon Faunus. In her normal appearance, her skin has somewhat darker spots on her arms, legs, stomach and face. Her brown hair is tied back in a ponytail that curls at the end like a chameleon's tail, and her eyes are a light gray with a faintly bluish tint.
"I was sent here." Ilia said carefully, she knew very well what can happen if you make Adam mad.
"Was it by Sienna?" Adam asked to Ilia, not bothering to face his body towards her, just watching her out of the corner of his eyes.
Ilia simply nodded to that question that was given to her.
"Figures, she always was nosey." Adam said as he finally turned his body towards Ilia, who was still high in the tree. "Now, that you have found me. What is your next move?" Adam said as he put a hand on his weapon in case it was needed.
Ilia's entire body turned red with her spots becoming bright yellow. "Don't speak about Sienna like that!" Ilia shouted out to Adam before taking a few breaths to get her emotion under control, with her skin turning back to its normal colour. "My next move is to either report this to Sienna or lie to her and let this slide. Because this place seems important to you." Ilia said as she looked towards the run-down compound.
"Yes, this place is very important to me. So why are you risking your career and possibly your life for this?" Adam said as he was intrigued by the way Ilia was acting about this, she was normally the one who wanted things done properly.
"Because, we will be even." Ilia softly said before she turned around and was about to leap of to another tree. "Goodbye." She said softly before leaping to another tree and disappearing out of sight.
"I guess we might be even." Adam said as he let his grip on his weapon lighten and let his hand fall by his side, with his non-dominant arm fix the position of the duffle bag.
"How much you have changed." Adam said softly as he remembered when he first met Ilia.
Flashback
A younger looking Adam was currently walking his way back to the small 'home' he was given. Of course, it wasn't any near a home, but it was livable to a certain extent.
His face was absolutely disgusting, with dirt and grime smeared all along his face and some even matting his hair colour, making it seem like he was a brunette. His clothes were in shambles, barely being held together with some stitches and his pants were now considered shorts from how much material it lost.
The lower portion of Atlas was where all the dust mines were, where all the Faunus that were unfortunate enough to get caught or captured were thrown into, the area was heavily polluted with smoke and fire from the constant use of the mines. However, all the rich and snobby people were simply living in luxury, on the floating city that looked like a Utopia. With it being high in the sky connected via chains to the lower portion of Atlas, which was now considered Mantle. Gravity dust was used to make sure the upper portion stayed afloat.
Adam sighed and looked down, this was probably the second year he has been here, nothing much to keep count.
His eyes were looking around the area, making sure to be careful of any people who might be in the mood to rob.
As he walked by an alleyway, a sudden and feminine cry for help got his attention, and as he stopped and peered down the alleyway, he saw that there was a girl, being held at gun point by a man with Atlas military armour, and from the way he looked, he looked very old.
Moving in closer to help the girl, he caught the final couple of words being spoken by the man.
"Now, Faunus scum. It is nearly time for your shift. I don't care if you are sick! You are going to be working until you drop!" The man said, Adam could instantly tell that he was an extreme racist and probably getting paid a whole lot just to do this.
As he saw the gun being pushed further into the girl's temple, he saw the girls skin tone change from brown to deep blue with lighter blue spots and her hair colour changing to deep blue as well.
"Hey! Stop bothering her!" Adam shouted out in anger to the Atlas person.
The Atlas person heard him and turned to face where the noise came from, and when he turned around, he was met with a fist to the face, not enough to hurt him, but enough to make him stumble back in shock.
"Grr. Faunus scum, touching someone of my stature. I will be sure to get you punished!" The man yelled, pointing his gun towards Adam.
Adam looked towards the female in who was still in relative shock. "Run! I will distract him!" Adam yelled to the girl, who nodded fearfully and turned into the colour of the surroundings, basically making her invisible.
"Come on! Fight me like a man!" Adam taunted the man who gritted his teeth and put his gun away and charged at Adam with the intent to seriously injure him.
Adam ducked under the wild haymaker he threw and grabbed the man's wrist and pulled, making him lurch forward, Adam then connected a knee to the man's unprotected abdomen, knocking the air out of him.
"You little shit!" The man yelled in anger, angry at the fact a Faunus dared to lay a hand on him.
The mans speed seemed to double and Adam was quickly on the back foot, with him barely dodging some attacks, his aura already low from an accident that happened in the mine earlier that day.
The man threw a feint with his left hand and Adam went to block it, fearing that he would get hit. Suddenly the man's right fist came directly into contact with Adam's solar plexus, knocking the air out of his lungs and forcing him to his knees.
"Heh. Not so tough now are you." The man taunted as he grabbed hold of Adam's hair and yanked him up.
"Ah!" Adam yelled out in pain as he struggled to get out of the hold he was in, but to no use, his eyes watering from the pain of his hair being pulled.
"I'm going to enjoy this." The man said before he cocked his fist back, aiming squarely at Adam's mouth.
Adam mustering as much strength as he could, used his dominant leg and forced it between the man's legs and kicked him directly in the groin.
The man's eyes widened in pain as he let go of Adam and his hands cradling his groin that just got kicked. "Argh!" He fell to his knees squirming in pain, although, with every movement of his body brought even more pain.
As soon as Adam dropped to the ground, he took off and ran, he knew that when he was spotted next, he was going to get punished.
Flashback End
Adam shook his head clear of those thoughts and made his way back to one of the only settlements in Menagerie; Kuo Kana.
Adam enjoyed the quietness the outskirts provided, no one really lived on the outskirts, maybe because more chance of being attacked by Grimm, or maybe just to stay away from the Taurus family, which were infamous for being harsh to new people, but when they knew people, they were rather kind. Something that Adam couldn't quite do with his past experiences and has trouble in trusting people, whether they be Faunus or humans, especially the latter.
As the short walk of peacefulness ended, he was back into the bustling streets of Kuo Kana, where some people looked oddly at him for carrying a duffle bag, where some looked happy because of the travelling bag, people still gave wide berth for him, not wanting to be in the proximity of him.
Adam ignored all the people either ignoring him like he wasn't there or the people who were cowering away from him in fear. He had one destination in mind, and that was at the docks.

The smell of sea water greeted Adam's nose, closing his eyes for a moment, he took his time with allowing the sounds of the small birds squawking at cawing and the sounds of the waves crashing to enter his ears, however, his little moment was interrupted when he heard a small huming noise coming from in front of him.
He grunted in annoyance and opened his eyes to see a dark skinned dog Faunus, with large and floppy ears on top of his head, a receeding hair line with greying hair and a set of black eyes to go along with his slightly aged face.
"Yes?" Adam questioned, looking at the elder dog Faunus with a unreadable look.
"Hmm? Oh yes, I was hoping to ask you something." He said, a nervous chuckle at being caught at an unnatural time.
"What is it, old timer?" Adam questioned, a little annoyed that he had been pulled up for such a simple thing. He had a ship that was about to leave and here was this old man stopping him, from not only his tranquil moment, but also from progessing further.
"Well, I noticed that you had a great deal of turmoil within yourself, and by the looks of where you were going and what you are carrying, I can presume you are headed on board that cruiseliner over there." The elder dog Faunus said and pointed in the direction where the ship was currently docked, with it easily being over three stories high and many meters wide. "So, I wanted to make sure you aren't attracting dangerous Grimm." He finished explaining to Adam, looking back at him with a sharp, yet concerned look in his old eyes.
Adam looked at the old man like he grew a second head, sure, it wasn't everyday when someone actually approached him, even when he was on duty with the White Fang, no one ever came up to him, nor did any of the civilians of Menagerie did. It also was a rare thing indeed for someone to actually be concerned about him.
"I do have turmoil. However, it is my problem alone to solve, and if any Grimm show up, then that can mean that people will have to work to kill it." Adam replied to the elderly man, he was about to brush past him, until he felt a hand clasp onto his arm, with a rather tight grip. Adam looked to see the elderly man looking at him with a harsh look.
"Now young man, while I may be old, I do care for others. So, if something does happen, then I expect you to help. I can sense that you want to become at peace. Maybe that would be the first step." The elder said, before turning on his heel and walking away in the distance. "Though, I do wish you a good trip." He said off-handedly as he continued to walk off.
Adam blinked once from behind his mask, before turning his attention to where the old man was walking. 'Wierd.' He thought to himself, before shaking his head clear of those thoughts.
WHISTLE
"Last call! Any passengers yet to board, please do so now!"
Without missing a beat, Adam quickly ran to where the ship was docked, quickly flashing his ticket to the guard, which he pulled out of his breast pocket and quickly sprinted up the lowered staircase.
A few moments later, the ship lurched forward slowly and the smell of burnt coal lingered in the air and small puffs of steam were seen overhead as the ship started to set sail.
Deciding that he wanted to stay as far away from others as possible, he started to make his way to the cabin areas, with him avoiding running into any other crewmates or passengers of the ship, and if some passengers or crewmates saw him, they would also give him wide berth to move past them. 'Now, I have some time to think.' He thought to himself, before stopping infront of his cabin number, one that made his brow twitch in annoyance.

He always had a mixed relationship with that number. Sometimes it lead to good things happening to him whenever he saw that number, like that time when he won a small raffle when he had that ticket number, or it was terrible, like the date he was taken away by those Atlas soldier scum.
Shaking his head clear of those thoughts and trying to get back to the more nuetral thoughts or maybe even the rare good thought, he brought the ticket again and swiped it down to the keypad on the door. With a small click the door opened, without wasting anymore time, he walked inside and chucked his travel bag on the armchair near the bed, and took of his large jacket, which revealed a black undershirt underneath with grey trimmings. Nodding to himself, he then flopped down on the bed, with his body seemingly sinking into soft matress of the bed.
END CHAPTER
Alright guys, I hope you liked this chapter, let me know what you thought about it. This story is based a couple of weeks in the first term Canon wise, however, it will stray from the canon greatly.
Also, Adam will have some moments were he seems to be getting better, then nuetral, then flat out annoyed. This is because he is trying to change, but his mindset and personality will take sometime to get on with the change.
