A/N: I wrote the prolog one day then this chapter the next and forgot to update. I'm sorry if my writing sucks.

Chapter One: A Promise Starts to Break
It has been several years now and Arthur now resembles a four year old while Alasdair is about thirteen, the twins around nine, and Jareth about seven. The siblings were close except that the older four Alasdair especially were somewhat distant with Arthur because they in a way connected him with their mother's death. Because he was so young at the time of her death he had no memories of her and so loved the rare stories about her.
One day Arthur was playing with his magical friends by a river when suddenly one the fairies thought it would be fun to see how well Arthur could swim so pushed him into the river. What the fairy didn't know was that Arthur can' swim and that the river was a deep one. Arthur was swept downstream trying to keep his head above the water and screaming for help when he could. Luckily for him his brothers heard him and came running. Upon seeing Arthur in trouble Alasdair dove into the river to save Arthur while the others were running along the riverbank to keep up with two who were being swept away. After sometime Alasdair finally caught Arthur and swam to shore with his waterlogged brother. Upon reaching shore Alasdair started yelling
"Why were you playing so close to the river knowing you can't swim?! Were you trying to drown yourself?!"
"But it was one of the fairies,"
"Don't blame the magical creatures for your carelessness!" Alasdair shouted interrupting Arthur.
Arthur not wanting to be yelled at anymore ran off into the woods to hide from his brothers. Alasdair started to go after him so that he could continue his lecture was stopped by Cian who said
"Don't go after him, you both need to cool down before talking to each other"
"Yeah Ali, did you really have to start yelling at little Artie right after saving him from the river." Chimed in Sean
"He needed to know not to play be the river!" shot back Alasdair
"Yes, but it could have waited till it was clear that he was okay and without the yelling." Said Jareth
Things started to go downhill after that in the relationship between the brothers it got to the point that when Alasdair was mad at Arthur he would beat him. The other three never did anything to Arthur besides some pranks but they never stopped Alasdair because they were unsure if they could stop him from hurting Arthur.
A/N2: short chapter is short they will all most likely be short. Next chapter I plan on Artie being about twelve, making Alasdair 22, Cian and Sean 19, and Jareth 15. There will be more sibling drama but it will end up resolved… eventually.
