Hi so I urm...changed it quite a lot...I re-read the second chapter of this fic and I realised that it could be so much better so here it is! I'm sorry it's taken such a long time but I've had exams and revision to do. It's been a very stressful year.
I don't own NCIS or Les Mis nope nada not gonna happen.
Tony, McGee and Abby are late. This is not going to look good. First rehearsal and they're already late. The one thing running through their minds is I really don't want to do Chess. One is definitely enough.
"Palmer text me and said that him and Ziva are already in there" Abby says as they make their way up the steps toward the front door of the theatre. They follow the signs helpfully showing the way to the room in which the rehearsal is taking place. As soon as Abby pushes open the door they are met by a largish red haired woman who comes running at them arms laden with copies of various pieces of music from the show. She dumps them in a pile on top of the grand piano next to the door.
"Hi!" She says and shakes each I'd the threesomes hands individually "my name is Gillian and I am directing the show. You must be Tony, Timothy and Abigail?"
"Please call me Abby"
"Well then let's get you three introduced" she turns around to the large group of people behind her and bellows "alright you know the drill any of you who believe you have a main part come join me over here!"
A sub group of about 10 people spilt off and join Gillian and the rest of the team.
"Abby, Timothy and Tony this is the cast. Cast, Abby, Timothy, Tony"
One by one each of the cast members step forwards and introduces themselves as if it is by a script.
"I'm Tom I play Valjean"
"I'm Robert I play Javert"
"I'm Brian I play Enjloras"
"We are Ashleigh and David and we play the Ternadiers"
"Hi I'm Amy and I play Cosette"
"Rachael I play Fantine"
And then it gets interesting for the three musketeers.
"You know my name and I play Marius" Palmer says quietly
"And I play Eponine" Ziva adds
"Wait. You guys know each other?" Gillian asks obviously confused about the way in which Palmer and Ziva had introduced themselves
"We are meant to be doing the same 'group bonding' thing that these guys are doing" Ziva replies "we work with them"
"Ok then I was just wondering" Gillian says looking from Ziva and Palmer to the rest of the team and back again "just be ready to start warming up in five minutes"
She leaves the small group along with the other 8 of the main cast members.
"Well that was surprising" Tony smirks "seriously though. How did this happen?" He asks gesturing towards the two of them.
"She walked in on my practicing A Little Fall of Rain for my audition in autopsy. I hadn't realised until I could hear two versions of Eponine one in my headphones and one coming from Ziva"
"He then explained that he was going to audition and I jokingly said if come along I did and got the part!"
"So that's why you knew so much about les mis?"
"No. I do watch the DVD constantly. This just pushed my knowledge a little further!"
They all go and take their appropriate seats in the large circle of chairs that have been set out for the rehearsal.
"Let's start with an easy one shall we? One we all know?" Gillian says and passes round the copies of Do You Hear The People Sing?" Abby gets suspicious as to why Ziva hasn't taken a copy.
"Ziva don't you need one?" She asks her friend sat next to her
"Nope. That is the only downside to this character. She misses out on this song"
"If you are not in this song as I know many of you aren't you are welcome to go and find a room and practice solo's/ duets. I would recommend Ziva going to practice On My Own and Rachael go practice I dreamed a Dream but go into the same room to save space." Many of the original eight get up and leave the circle an air of chattiness surrounding them as they do "Shall we begin?" Gillian asks and signals the piano man to begin playing the introduction.
As they are leaving Palmer whispers to Ziva "this is going to be a long couple of months" Ziva can only snort in agreement as they split to go to their own rooms.
1 (VERY LONG) HOUR LATER
"You know what I'm starting to get the hang of this" Tony whispers to Abby
"Well at least one of us is. I was never the best at music in school, I always played the triangle"
"I can hear that McTonedeaf"
"Tom can you go and get the others please? We'll run the songs we've done today before we all leave for the evening"
A few minutes later and everyone is once again gathered in the room. "You two want to do your solos?" Gillian asks Ziva and Rachael.
They look at each other and a smirk comes to each of their faces "Not particularly" Rachael replies
"They are not perfect yet…" Ziva adds "We may-will do them next week"
"Ok then. I'm not even going to ask." Gillian says and walks away as Ziva and the others take their places in the circle "As it appears that all of the people who have just come back are refusing to perform" she looks around the circle to be greeted by snickers form those in question "and I really don't want to know what they were actually doing out there we are going to show then what comes out of actually rehearsing" she motions to the piano man in the corner "from the top"
After a rousing rendition of Do You Hear The People Sing the choir are greeted with a round of applause from the few who had left.
"Unless you have been told otherwise I will see you all next week. Please take a copy of One Day More with you to learn for next week"
Everyone gets up to leave and Tony, McGee, Palmer, Abby and Ziva gather around the piano where the copies of the music are piled high. They all grab one and begin to look through them.
"I can't even read this" McGee whispers under his breath "The other one was easier. There were only four lines to follow"
"McGee if you want some help I have a piano at home" Palmer says "I was going to invite you all over anyway to go over the larger songs which everyone apart from you guys already know"
"I can help if you want?" Ziva chips in
"How about tomorrow? After work?" Palmer asks "Breena will be fine with it. She's doing the costumes"
"I'm in" McGee says
"Me too" Abby adds
"Me three. I'm actually enjoying this!" Tony adds
The team leave the theatre. Past the posters. Past the photos of the cast which have already been taken. Into the diner across the street which would become their usual haunt for the next few months.
