Chapter Two: Revealed
Author's Note: I'm so sorry for the delay in updating. I had originally planned to make this two or three chapters long but then decided to leave it as one shot for a while. Recently I've changed my mind and decided to add another chapter or two since I feel the story would be incomplete without them. I hope you all enjoy it.
"Aro, I can explain," Jane could feel the heat rising in her cheeks. Three of them stood staring at each other in stunned silence. Jane could see Aro was struggling to decide what he should say next. Jane glanced at Alec with a horrified expression on her face which he returned with a nervous shrug.
"Well then…" Alec broke the silence. "This is really awkward."
"Alec!" Jane glared at him.
"What?" Alec shrugged.
"Alec, could you kindly leave us for a few minutes?" Aro finally spoke. "I need to speak with your sister. Alone." The last word came out icy. His tone made Jane even more worried. She shot Alec another panicked look, which he returned.
"Um, sure Aro," Alec forced a small nervous smile. "I-I'll be in the library. I should go now." He quickly bolted out the door and flashed a thumbs up at Jane behind Aro's back and mouthed 'Good Luck' before darting off into the hallway.
Now Jane was left alone to figure a way out of this situation. She knew lying would be pointless, he would pick up the truth in her thoughts. But why didn't he see this coming in the past? She briefly felt anger. There must have been fragments of what she felt for him in her thoughts, as much as she had tried to suppress her feelings for him.
"Jane dear, take a seat," Aro pulled out a from her study desk and another chair that she shared with Alec and closed the door before sitting down.
"Yes, Aro," She kept her head down and reluctantly sat across from him.
"I overheard your conversation with Alec," Aro began.
"Yes, I know. I told you I can explain," Jane felt as if she were dying. Explain what though? She wished she could be anywhere but in that room.
"Jane," Aro held out his hand towards her. "Let me see."
"But Aro-" Jane folded her arms, scared to let him see her thoughts. She had been avoiding him as much as possible over the past few months in case if he wanted to read her thoughts. Jane didn't wanted to him to find out what she daydreamed of him or how she thought about him frequently.
"Jane," His voice was stern.
Jane sighed and slowly let her fingers touch his hand. He clasped his hand around hers and was silent for a moment. Jane was completely mortified. She knew he could hear all of those thoughts, see her memories of every single love letter she wrote to him, and knew everything she felt about him. It made her more uneasy that she couldn't read Aro's expression as her thoughts floated to him. Jane was tempted to jump up and bolt out of the room.
Aro finally released her hand and she avoided making eye contact. "Jane, this is not appropriate," Aro frowned.
"I know, Aro," Jane finally met his eyes. "But I can't help how I feel Aro. I've tried not to feel this way, I'm sure you saw when you read my thoughts. I love you Aro."
"Jane, stop this," Aro said. "You are just a child, dear. I am your Master. I'm a married man. This cannot happen."
Jane could feel her heart slowly splitting in two. Of course she knew this would never be possible but it hurt even more to hear Aro saying it himself.
"I know, Aro," Jane looked down. "But please." Without a warning, she abruptly stood up. "Jane, what are you-" Aro began but Jane wrapped one of her arms around his head and lightly pressed her lips against his. "Jane-!" He was cut off by another kiss.
She kissed him with all of her passion while his lips struggled against hers. Aro quickly stood up from the chair pushing her off of him. "JANE!" He was angry now. "What on Earth has gotten into you?"
Jane saw the anger in his eyes and immediately felt ashamed. "I'm sorry, Aro."
"Jane this must not happen again. If you cannot contain yourself I will have to send you away. Do you understand?"
"Yes," Jane nodded meekly.
"Now take time to recollect yourself. No more of these incidents," Aro opened up the door and left without another word. After the door shut, Jane slowly collapsed on her bed.
What have I done?
