LUCY POV

I walked up the stairs towards Percy's Apartment. It had been a week since he broke up with Annabeth and he had not showed up to school. I thought he might be sick and since his mom and step dad were on a honeymoon, I decided I might check up on him.

FLASHBACK TO EARLIER THAT DAY

I walked down the stairs in a t-shirt and jeans. "Mom," I called "Can I go to a sick friend's house to check on them?" "Is it a boy?" My mom called from the kitchen. "No" I lied. "Ok then, I'll call the school"

FLASHBACK END

I walked up to his door and knocked. No answer. After a few more knocks, I sighed. My mom had taught me a trick that she called 'shadow travel' but she said I would be grounded if I used it illegally. I found a shady spot at the end of the hallway and ran at it. (I forget how shadow travel works in the book so I'm just going to guess) Next thing I know, I'm in a cozy looking living room with sea blue wallpaper.

"Percy, where are you?" I yelled. I walked into what looked like his room and gasped. Percy was lying on the bed with a smashed phone lying across the room. his skin was grey and his hair was the color of dead grass. His skin had cuts all over and his eyes were solid red. he was giving raspy breaths that made me shiver.

My mom always told me that if I had ever had an emergency, I should pray to her, and I think this counted. Hey if she could shadow travel, who's to say she couldn't hear prayers. I had never done it before because, be honest, do you pray to your parents? I closed my eyes. 'dear mom,' I thought, 'my friend looks half dead. Can you come and help?' Suddenly there was a bright light from beside me. I looked over and jumped when I saw my mom standing there looking cross. "So you're friends not a boy huh?" I decided it would be better if I just stayed quiet.

My mom sighed and walked over to the bed and placed her hand on his head. After a minute she took her hand off and turned around. "He bathed in the river Styx and now that his mortal tie has been taken away, he's about to fade. We need to dip him in the river Acheron and the Achilles curse will fade, making him all better. "Does it work like that?" I questioned. "Yes, but only the Primordials were crazy enough to try and find out."

I was still confused on how she knew this but decided that there were more pressing matters at hand. "Now take my hand," she said grabbing Percy's wrist, "and we can save his life." as soon as I took her hand, there was a blinding light and next thing I know, I'm standing at the bank of a fiery river in the underworld. My mom proceeded to pick up Percy and toss him in. "Mom!" I gasped.

Suddenly a pained scream echoed from the river. My mom grinned, "I forgot to mention it is ten times more painful than the fields of punishment." Sudenly the water shot up like a gyzer and Percy landed a few feet behind me, looking extremely red, but back to normal. "Oh, my mom grinned, "Your grounded young lady."
