Joey woke up after water was poured on him, thanks to Chandler, who had an empty glass in hand and was grinning. Chandler seemed to enjoy dumping water on him. That jerk.
"Joey, sweetie, are you okay?" Rachel asked him as she and Monica helped to pull him up to his feet.
"Yeah, yeah...I'm fine," Joey rubbed his head that had hurt him a little when he fell onto the floor. "Have I dreamed that you guys said I have a kid?"
"A daughter to be precise," Chandler replied. "She's a baby and she has a name that's Leah."
"So, no, it's not a dream." Rachel said.
"It's...it's true?" Joey asked in disbelief as Rachel and Monica led him to sit on the recliner. "How did this happen?"
Chandler smirked. "Well, you see, when two people are madly in love, or in your case, horny for each other, they-"
"I know that!" Joey interrupted in annoyance. "I mean...I don't even know who the girl's mother is. Do you know her name?"
"She said that she's Caroline Davis. Sound familiar?"
"I think so...I don't know," Joey really wasn't sure since he's been with multiple women. Then an idea came to him. "I bet I can find her in my phone book!" He got on his feet to go into his bedroom.
"No!" Chandler stopped him quickly. "Joey, Caroline told me she never wants to talk to you or see you ever again."
His face had fallen. "She doesn't...?"
"Yeah." He nodded.
"Looks like I've really screwed up big time, huh?" Joey asked his friends which they all agreed to without hesitation.
Chandler was in the bedroom with Joey. Joey was trying to get used to holding the baby - his daughter, Leah - and just bonding with her. It was terrifying to hold her at first because he feared he would drop her, but he managed to be good at it.
"Joey, if there's anything you need for the baby, I'll help you." Chandler promised.
"Thanks. I don't know how to be good Dad," Joey vented about his own fears to him. "I never thought I would have a kid right now. I'm not ready."
"Neither was Caroline so that's why she gave Leah to you. You have to be there your daughter, Joey."
"I know and I will," He vowed. "I still have to try and talk to Caroline-"
"Joey..." Chandler warned.
"We'll only talk stuff about Leah. I don't even know her birthday or anything about her."
"Well, Leah is still a baby so there's not much to know about her."
Joey glared at Chandler.
"I would like to apologize to Caroline for everything, too."
Chandler wasn't sure if an apology was going to cut it, but Joey did seem sincere about it and wanted to know more about his daughter.
Over the past weeks, Joey was trying to get used to his new life as being a father. It was extremely difficult and tiresome, but Leah was cute (of course she was, she has his good looks, after all) and it was hard to stay frustrated and angry at her all the time. Joey was buying all kinds of baby supplies such as diapers, milk formulas, clothing, toys, etc. Everything that the baby would ever need.
In the afternoon one day was when Phoebe and Ross dropped by to see the baby. They heard it from the others that Joey Tribbiani has a kid. Being his friends, they would want to see Leah.
"She's so cute!" Phoebe gushed as she cradled the baby in her arms. "What's her name again?"
"Leah Isabelle Tribbiani." Joey answered proudly as Phoebe continues to feed Leah with the bottled milk.
He never believed and imagined himself having a child of his own someday and that would carry on his family's name. Since Leah was a girl, he's positive that all of his sisters would absolutely love their niece.
"So, was she conceived on one of your infamous nightstands?" Ross assumed.
"Yes," Joey answered. "I'm actually going to do my job and be a father for Leah."
"Good for you, Joe," Ross approved. "There's nothing more rewarding than being a father."
"Hey, maybe you can give me some tips?" Joey said.
"Sure, but I do have a son, you know, so it's different when you have a girl."
"Really? How come?"
"For a boy, you have to raise him to be a man and respect women."
"And teach him stuff about dinosaurs." Joey added.
Ross chuckled. "Girls can like dinosaurs, too."
He shrugged. "I guess, but I never knew any."
Ross rolled his eyes at that.
"For girls, there are more...delicate. They're Daddy's little girl. You want to protect them more and I'm sure you wouldn't want your daughter to date any sleazy guys like..." A smirk danced on Ross' face when he came up with the comparison. "Like you, for you example. You don't want Leah to get used, rejected, and heartbroken. Wouldn't you?"
Joey thought about Ross' words and how guys will fall over Leah once she'll get older. He'll have protect her at all costs and be on complete 'Dad Mode' when that time will come.
For now, Leah can be Daddy's little girl.
"No. I do not." Joey answered.
"See? So, that's how raising sons and daughters can be different," Ross finished. "Of course, I wouldn't want my son to get heartbroken and used by women either."
"I miss holding babies ever since I gave birth to Frank and Alice's triplets," Phoebe said as she passed the baby to Ross once she was finished eating. She went to clean the bottle at the sink. "I would love to babysit."
"Sure. Leah could use another mother figure."
"Yay!" Phoebe was excited. "What if Leah will become vegan?"
"What? No way. She's a Tribbiani. She'll eat meat like me."
"I guess that'll be her decision when she gets older."
Eventually, Ross had to go to work and Phoebe still stayed being with Joey and Leah. Leah was sound asleep in her bassinet in Joey's bedroom.
"I would appreciate it if you'd be around more often for Leah." Joey told her.
"Really?" Phoebe felt honored.
"Yeah. I trust you more than Rachel and Monica," He suddenly had a second thought. "Okay, maybe I trust Monica more than Rachel. But you've got the experience."
"Oh, I know. Babies just love me," She smiled. "You know, I've actually wanted to keep one of Frank and Alice's triplets."
"You did?" Joey was surprised.
"Yeah. It's just that you get attached as they grow inside you, you know? So, I couldn't help to want one of them. But it'll be fine helping you with Leah."
Joey was grateful for that. "Thanks, Pheebs."
