So chapter 2 eh? Initially I was only planning to do the one and see how it was received. I do have a plot in mind, but I didn't know if I'd actually go through with it or not. Feedback may be useless to some but it's pretty much the only thing that pushed me to finish in say this century. I started writing this chapter back in December of 2009. And here I am in 2011 not even half finished. Partly due to a destroyed computer. Anyhow on to the story. Hope you like it.
Fast Forward to Jan 2015
Notes: So, yeah. I wasn't sure I was EVER going to return to this story to be honest, like my other, its apparent I had something planned for it, but what exactly, Well who knows. Still here we are and here it is. Also, I may well change the name just because it seems a bit.. I dunno a bit cliché I guess. Still we'll see.
I sat down today during some spare time and wrote out 3 pages of chapter outlines, (well 2 and a half) so while I haven't gotten it completely planned, I at least know where to start. Also I will go back and fix a LOT of the errors, grammatically speaking, in the first chapter as I have time later on. Re-reading it to refresh my mind was painful...
I don't own Card Captor. You knew that already though didn't you. (Really though are these things even needed...)
000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
Sakura-chan is so very cute when she's sleeping; well I suppose beautiful is more accurate now than cute.
It was twenty minutes until ten in the morning and as usual, Tomoyo had been awake for more than three hours, while Sakura was very much not. During that time, Tomoyo finished packing the rest of Sakura's things and called her mom's moving van to come pick what little they were taking up. After that, she sat down at Sakura's desk and just watched her sleep while reminiscing.
Unfortunately, for Tomoyo at least, the people her mom was sending to get Sakura's things were supposed to be there in less than an hour. Still she had savored the few minutes she had in which she could watch her beloved Sakura sleep. Finally, with the movers only a few minutes out, she snapped out of her midmorning day dream and attempted to wake her friend.
"Sakura-chan. Sakura-chan."
"Mmmhm Tomoyo-chan? Why are you here so early in the morning? It's not a school day is it?" She rolled over and started to fall back asleep.
As clueless as ever waking up eh Sakura-chan.
"It's time for you to get up Sakura-chan! We have a test today and school starts in twenty minutes."
"Hu-eh?" Sakura shot up awake and jumped out of bed panicking. I couldn't resist.
As Sakura rushed around the room trying to get ready Tomoyo couldn't help but laugh.
"Relax Sakura-chan, I was only kidding. Its Summer."
"Tomoyo –chan that's not very" Sakura cut off as she yawned, "Funny you know, you scared me a lot there."
"I'm sorry Sakura-chan but I just couldn't resist, you were just so cute sleeping, but I had to wake you up. It's almost time to go."
Honestly Tomoyo that's not… going? Going where?" Sakura's half-awake mind turned over and it suddenly clicked. OH YEAH! I'm moving in with Tomoyo today!
Now fully awake Sakura looked around and discovered that all of her stuff was already neatly packed away and ready.
"Well I guess we can head downstairs then and get breakfast." After the finished breakfast, the car that was taking them to Tomoyo's home arrived. By now Sakura was so excited she could barely contain it. She was so hyper and energetic in fact, that Tomoyo found herself barely able to get a word in at all. Despite being nearly 16 years old, Sakura reminded Tomoyo of a far younger and energetic Sakura. She hadn't been this worked up in years.
"OH, Tomoyo what's my room like?"
"Well it-"
"is it close to yours?"
"Y-"
"How long till we get there?"
111111111111111111111111111111
Eventually, Tomoyo stopped trying to respond not out of frustration but really of sheer amazement that Sakura could be this full of energy. I'm not sure I'm ready for this after all... Tomoyo reflected as Sakura started asking about food and kitchens. Being close to her is one thing. I can prepare, and I always have my space to go back to if I feel like I'll lose it.. but now.. Tomoyo shook her head NO! If nothing else she's my dear friend and she needs help. My own personal feelings can't get in the way of that.
Sakura of course missed this entire mental exchange of Tomoyo's. She was far to excited very much at ll actually. Soon enough they pulled into the gated yard and the car stopped, Sakura was out and halfway up the main stairs before Tomoyo had left her seat. Sakura stopped at the top step and turned around looking sheepishly at Tomoyo. "Eheh, I don't actually know where we're going..."
Tomoyo could only smile and laugh softly. "Come on, Sakura-chan and I'll show your room. It's the one right next to mine."
Sakura sped up the stairs towards the room and threw open the door. I'm home. This is home from now on. For a second she missed her dad, just for a second before noticing her bed.
"Tomoyo-chan! THATS my bed? Its Huge!" Her bed was a 4 post king size bed carved out of cherry wood. To Sakura it seemed like a room in itself.
"Mom had it imported specifically for your room Sakura-chan." In fact nearly everything in here wasn't in this country a week ago. This used to be my film storage room.
"Eh? That's amazing Tomoyo-chan!" Sakura walked to the center of the room and kinda stood there for a minute. Its kind of amazing, just realizing this is all mine.
"Sakura-chan, since you've already been in my house, I don't think I need to give you the grand tour, so how about we just relax until the movers get here with your stuff."
"That sounds fun Tomoyo-chan, we can talk about all the fun we're going to have spending time together!" for just a second, Sakura thought she saw Tomoyo's face twitch at that sentence, but decided she must have imagined it. "I'm so excited!"
"Me too Sakura-chan, me too." Tomoyo said happily but with a good deal less enthusiasm.
I wonder if Tomoyo-chan's not feeling well, she seemed fine earlier. She's probably just overwhelmed a little by my moving in. I know I am.
11111111111111111111111
To Say Tomoyo wasn't feeling well was probably the best closest guess Sakura had ever come to being right about her friends emotions. Tomoyo was doing her dead level best to keep a smile and not let Sakura know how this was affecting her. Stop it! If nothing else, think of Sakura! You've spent years hiding this for her sake, what's changed with her in the next room? Nothing that's what. She's still your precious friend, and you will protect her, from yourself as much as anyone.
Thankfully for Tomoyo's mind, the movers arrived rather quickly and she found a great distraction in unpacking Sakura's things. However, during this, she realized something she hadn't been quite aware of. Sakura-chan doesn't have many nice clothes does she. Almost everything in here that's not worn completely out is the stuff I've gotten or made her as presents and even some of that is fading. That's no good.
Finally they had finished unpacking all of Sakura's things and getting them sorted how Sakura wanted them. Sakura fell back on the bed with a deep sigh.
"UH finally! That took forever Tomoyo-chan, I don't remember packing this much stuff last night."
That's because you didn't Sakura-chan Tomoyo smiled at that, but instead said.
"I think we should go shopping Sakura-chan."
"Eh, but we only just finished and you want to leave?" Sakura pouted.
Sakura-chan is very cute when she pouts like that.. still matters need tending.
"I wanted to buy something's to help you get better settled in, that way we don't have to do it later."
"Well, I guess that makes sense Tomoyo-chan. So what are we going to get?"
"Well for one, I was going to make a cake and also I think you need some new clothes. "
"Eh? What's wrong with the clothes I have?"
Tomoyo looked back over towards Sakura's closet and shivered slightly Uh Everything Sakura-chan
"Nothing really, I just think it would be nice to compliment your new life with a new wardrobe."
"Well… If Tomoyo-chan thinks it's a good idea then I'm not going to argue. Lets get going then!
111111111111111111111111
A half hour later they were walking around the mall near Tomoyo's house, a couple of Tomoyo's body guards were with them, mostly to carry whatever they bought, but they walked a distance behind at Tomoyo's request for some privacy.
"So Tomoyo-chan what did you have in mind?"
"Well, honestly I was thinking that it would be best to get your clothes made by a custom tailor our family uses regularly. I already have your measurements so we really just need to stop in for a minute so you can pick out some designs and styles you like."
Why does Tomoyo-chan have my measurements? Sakura wondered, but she just said, "Well that's good at least, I don't really like clothes shopping anyways."
"Well, were going to get you some clothes today anyways, it will be a couple weeks before your nice ones are ready."
"EEEH! Why can't I just wear what I have until then?"
"Because Sakura-chan would look even cuter in new clothes, and it will be fun." Also I had the staff remove most of your old clothes already after we left. "Besides, Sakura-chan can never have to many clothes."
Sakura sweat dropped at this, smiled and walked along in silence, realizing she had no chance of beating Tomoyo at this.
"Can we eat first Tomoyo-chan? I'm starving." As if to compliment this sentence, Tomoyo's stomach growled.
"I guess I am too Sakura-chan, lets go get some noodles from the stand over there."
"Yay, I love noodles." Sakura rushed off ahead, leaving a slightly exhausted Tomoyo behind. She really is made of energy isn't she?
111111111111111111111111111111111
After Sakura's 4th bowl, and Tomoyo's 1st, Tomoyo paid the vender for all five bowls and they headed further into the shopping district.
-Some Time Later-
"Tomoyo-chan! I know you want me to have new stuff, but this is way to much!"
"Sakura-chan will look in them though!"
Over the last six hours, Tomoyo had forced Sakura to try on no less than 70 different outfits in various combinations, all of which she had ended up buying. In all the combinations. It's a good thing she doesn't know how much it really is. Well Sakura needed them. She justified, looking at the receipts from various different stores. Adding them up in her head she sweat dropped. I may have gone a bit overboard though.
All told she had spent nearly 100,000¥ out of her yearly allowance personal checking account. Her mom would probably not be too happy, but her mom HAD said to enjoy their time out. And Mom isn't going to be that upset since its all for Sakura-chan. She was mostly convinced of this. It was a LOT of money after all. Her poor guards had had to call a truck to pick the clothes up from each store.
111111111111111111111111111
It was nearly 9:00 when they finally they arrived back home.
"Tomoyo!" Even before they got to the stairs, her mom began. Well, there goes that hope heh.. Tomoyo just said.
"Yes, Mother?"
"Don't 'yes mother' me young lady, where do you get off spending that kind of money in one afternoon? That account is for the YEAR Tomoyo, not the week!"
"Oh mom, I still have nearly 20,000,000 yen left." Her mom looked ready to explode, she continued a bit softer "Besides, it was all for Sakura-chan." Sakura's eyes had bulged at the number and then she blushed.
"Um Tomoyo-chan… how much DID you spend today."
"Enough Sakura-chan, she spent enough." Tomoyo's mom sighed, she couldn't stay mad, she was still upset, but she knew how her daughter was feeling about this move and about Sakura in general. She would certainly have to keep a closer eye on her daughter if she was capable of this, a daily spending limit would be a good start, but she couldn't stay mad.
"Tomoyo, we can talk later about it alright.. For now, go get ready for dinner."
"Yes ma'am."
After dinner, Sakura and Tomoyo were sitting in Sakura's new room on her bed, looking at all the jewelry and headbands they had bought.
"Say Tomoyo-chan… Why DID you spend this much today? I mean I get I needed some new clothes, but didn't you say we were going to be ordering me some anyways?"
Tomoyo's cheeks turned pink. Heh, Sakura-chan is getting more perceptive. Better just play it off "After seeing Sakura-chan in so many cute outfits, I guess I couldn't help myself."
"Tomoyo-chan doesn't have to do that for me. I'm perfectly happy with whatever Tomoyo-chan gets me, it doesn't have to be a lot."
Oh Sakura-chan… Tomoyo really was going to have a rough time if Sakura kept saying things like that. Only a day into this and she was feeling stressed by it. She wasn't sure why it was happening so fast though. They had slept over and spent many a summer week or two very close to each other. What's different this time?
Its that in each of those times, I knew that I would have to give her up again.. That she wouldn't be there when I woke up one day. That feeling, as much as it hurt Tomoyo, was also the one thing that made her whole situation bearable. It hurt to not be around Sakura, but eventually she could mute it to a dull pain. With Sakura-chan living with her, every night would end the same, with the same close yet not closeness of friendship, and she would have no escape.
Tomoyo had been quiet for over a minute and Sakura was beginning to worry about her. She looks like she might cry.. Why is Tomoyo-chan sad? Did she just not realize how much she was spending and now she's worried her moms gonna be really upset with her?
"Hey Tomoyo-chan, if it's a problem we can take all the clothes back you know, I don't want your-"
"NO!" Tomoyo's response surprised Sakura, "No.. I wanted to make Sakura comfortable here, it was my choice to spend my money." I can't do this..
"But Tomoyo-chan, I don't want you to get in trouble over me."
"I wont Sakura-chan, I promise." Sakura-chan… She faked a yawn. " Anyways Sakura-chan, I think we've had a eventful day. I am so sleepy." She said with a practiced voice for when she didn't want to alert anyone. I am tired so its not a lie, but…
Sakura responded with a clearly not fake yawn and said. "Alrighty Tomoyo-chan, it is getting kinda late and I'm tired too."
1111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111
Late that night, Sakura woke up suddenly. That was the weirdest dream.. Tomoyo-chan and I were.. A flash of lightning outside made her jump and just like that her dream was was aware of a more pressing matter. As she got up and headed towards the bathroom, she noticed Tomoyo's door open but thought nothing of it more than a passing thought.
On her way back however, She heard noises coming through the they sounded like immediately got Sakura's attention. Is Tomoyo-chan crying? Quietly she snuck over to the door and peeked in. It took her a minute for her eyes to adjust, but as she followed the source of the crying, she discovered a scene that would change everything she thought she knew.

Also if it gets too cutesy/laid back at times, well sorry. That's kinda what I'm shooting for. Moments of drama and plot, mixed in with enough lighthearted nonsense to keep it from burying me under the weight of guilt from writing Tomoyo-chan into such a crap situation...
Note: 100k yen is roughly 9,000USD$, so yeeeaahh Tomoyo might have gone a bit nuts there.
So funny story this might have been done a week earlier, but when I was writing the, incredibly small, bit about Sakura's room, I got distracted looking at expensive 4 post beds and amazing bedroom sets and 4 hours later I was to tired to finish anything. (Wonderful writer me)
Also I'm not sure how much actual magic( eg the cards) this series is gonna have. For me its not about that but who knows, time changes minds.
