(Dorothy in Oz: one year after leaving Storybrooke.)
Running…why was she always doing so much running? When she was little it was fun; like all young children, running, falling, jumping was just a part of playing. At the moment she was running to stay alive. Thankfully she found a tree in the small apple orchard on the side of the yellow brick road. This tree however, was just as scared as she was, barely noticing her scramble up its trunk and branches to safety. She held her breath in hopes that the Bandersnatch would just run on by.
As she pushed herself against the tree trying to make herself invisible; her mind rushed with questions: how was the Bandersnatch in Oz, who had control of it and why on her? Though she had a pretty good idea who. She was then pulled back to reality as the Bandersnatch roared past her; she closed her eyes and buried her face in her knees. She wanted to cry but she had cried too much already. She won't give the white witch, the red Queen, or Glenda and the wicked witch that satisfaction.
She breathed out slowly, held, then in. She did this several times till she was calm; or calmer then before. She moved from her perch, cautiously slipping down the tree. She landed on her feet, crouching low; she stayed there as she counted to ten slowly five times. The Bandersnatch was now most likely in the field of poppies, hopefully beginning to slumber. She stood; it was getting hard to run in the ruby slippers; even if the heel was small.
She took a shaky breath to try and further calm, closed her eyes and began to click her heels. Whispering: 'there's no place like home.' She began to speed up the chant, clicking her heels more rapidly. Soon she felt her body leaving Oz; her heart broke a little then. She was leaving friends: the scarecrow, the tin man, the cowardly lion, the true wizard but the comforting reminder that her had given her of her true love helped. She was pulled from her thoughts as her body steadied in a new land.
Her eyes were still shut; how she hoped she was home. A smile creped on her face, she was ready to be home. She opened her eyes as she herd a familiar voice, but she met her eyes was a jungle.
"Maybe this is just you running off on me but I don't believe that, there's always a way…" Dorothy ran out of the bushes to see the backs of Emma and Snow; they turned to her, weapons drawn.
"Emma! Snow!...I-" She began but Emma cut her off.
"Who are you kid? Where's Pan!?" Dorothy was taken a back; she quickly realized she was in Neverland.
"Pan?…I never met him…" She explained.
"Emma she's not dressed like the other kids." Snow looked Dorothy up and down.
"Ya, but it might be a trick. Who's Pan to you?" Dorothy took a breath.
"He's my Grandfather. I'm from the future, from Storybrooke." The two older women looked stunned but Emma lowered her sword.
"Dorothy…If I tell you my last name the very fabric of time could change; people could be unborn, that sort of thing." Emma looked at Snow.
"She's telling the truth." Emma motioned for Dorothy to fallow them.
"Wait! When we meet up with everyone, you can't tell them Pan is my Grandfather, it will give away who my parents are. Pan himself doesn't even know I exist." Snow and Emma exchanged looks.
"Come on kid…we-"
"How to save Henry right?" Dorothy finished for Emma.
"…Ya…How?"
"It's…A Storybrooke legend…Henry use to tell it to me all the time when I was Little." The two other women stood gaping at the girl, till they herd charming call for them. Fallowed by three others. Immediately after the group heard wrestling behind the three women. Soon Dorothy was surrounded by Regina, Hook, Tink, her big brother she never got to know, and her Father. Charming eminently raised his sword but Emma stopped him.
"…Neal…" Dorothy whispered in awe.
"Stop she's not with Pan."
"How do you know?" Regina asked as she studded Dorothy with a scowl.
"She's from the future, she knows Henry." Snow informed.
"How is that possible, time travel hasn't bean done." Rumple retorted.
"It's the shoes, you chick you're heels and they move you through times in different worlds…Like how the white shoes can transport to other lands…" Rumple narrowed his eyes at her as she gave him insight.
"And you know Henry in this future?" Regina asked coldly.
"Yes, I was his 'little shadow' till I started pre-school. He would read his story book to me; but my favorite story's were the ones her told me." Dorothy finished with a smile at her memory.
"So your friends with my son? Who are your parents?" Regina inquired. Dorothy looked from Emma to Snow but Rumple was the one to step in.
"Time is a delicate, tricky thing; if we disrupted it the consequences could be fatal. I think we should let…?" He turned to Dorothy.
"…Oh, Dorothy…"
"We should let miss Dorothy have her secrets, and only let her tell us what we need to save Henry." Regina scoffed.
"Wait, what are you two doing here?" Snow asked.
"Same as you but we now have a chance." Regina motioned to the box in Rumples hand.
"Pandora's box!" Dorothy exclaimed. Regina stared the young woman down. Dorothy looked away, down at her shoes.
"It can trap Pan for eternity simply by opening the lid." Regina explained.
"You didn't tell me my Father was with her." Dorothy herd Neal whisper to Emma. It was strange seeing her big brother and father at odds; when her father had spent so much time telling her about how much he loved her big brother.
"Wait your father is the Dark one?" Tink exclaimed.
"Ya, and he's not getting anywhere near Henry." Neal's voice was cold. It didn't suit the image her father had painted for her.
"Bae…" Rumple's voice was little more then a whisper of pain.
"Wait, what are you talking about?" Emma asked.
"There's a prophecy that says that Henry will be his, 'undoing'. He didn't come here to protect Henry, he's here to kill him." Tension swapped over the group of seven. Dorothy tried to become part of the back ground as she snuck glance at her father.
"That's why you didn't want to find Neal before you got Henry back; because you know he'd spill your secret." Regina confronted.
"Everything I did was to protect Henry, to recue him from Pan." Rumple defended.
"It all makes sense…you left before we even made shore." Emma raised her sowed. Rumple fidgeted with the box.
"You wanted to get to Henry first!" Snow exclaimed raising her bow.
"You would be alone." Charming drew his sword.
"So no one would stop you." Hook did the same.
"It's not going to happen." Emma insured coldly.
"Look, why don't we just ask the person that knows what is to happen." Rumple turned to Dorothy.
"…Henry dose, live…"
"Maybe that's because we kill him now." Hook moved forward but to everyone's surprise Dorothy ran to stand in front of Rumple.
"Nope! No, no!...No…That's not it…" Hook lowered his sword in confusion. He moved backed to stand next to Tink. Dorothy looked over her shoulder at Rumple.
"Tell them the truth…" Dorothy instructed, sounding too much like her mother. Rumple eyed the girl curiously before looking back to Neal.
"She's right, I won't hurt him." Rumple offered.
"Right that sounds just like you." Regina retorted sarcastically.
"Without him you will fail." Dorothy spoke strong, but her facial expression was of worry. Again Rumple glanced at her in disbelieve before addressing the others.
"I am the most powerful amongst us…" Rumple offers calmly.
"That's why we can't trust you." Dorothy's brother snapped.
"If I could give you my dagger I would, but I can't."
"But you can give me Pandora's box…I don't have to trust you if I can stop you."
"Son…" Rumple looked pleading as he made his decision, handing the box to Neal.
"Look at me. You so much as lift a finger to preform magic, you'll be in this box…" the box past to Neal's hand; that he dropped to his sighed.
"…Lets go." Emma announced as she sheathed her sword; while everyone but Rumple and Dorothy moved on after her. Rumple turned to the strange girl. She only stared back at him before moshing for him to fallow her.
"Come on, you're their only hope."
(Flash Back: Belle & Rumple in SB fine Dorothy's gone.)
They walked from Granny's with two takeout bags etch. It was a nice day for Storybrooke: slow, peaceful. Rumple rather liked this to the town under siege; He and Belle were safe, their family was safe, including their extended.
"So Dot's at the shop already? Its nice having her around like that now that she's done school." Belle thought allowed.
"Yes, and once Meme is done school in three years she can help you at the library." Rumple added calmly; a loving grin on his face as he turned to Belle.
"What, when did Dot stop working at the library?! And who says Meme even wants to take over the library, you…" She turned to him with a surprised happy look; she laughed as she tried to hit his thigh playfully with one of the takeout bags. He dogged it, laughing along as he moved one bag to the other hand to fish the shop keys. The two entered the shop still laughing. Rumple saw Dorothy was not at the front display case; immediately brushing it off thinking she was just in the back.
"Dot! Sweetheart! We're back, come get lunch!" Rumple looked at Belle when there was an eerie silent.
Rumple moved first through to the first back room still Dorothy was no were to be seen. It wasn't like her to slack off at one of her jobs. Even if he went to talk to her at Mo's, he would have to wait till she was done for her full attention. Belle called out for her but still nothing. Rumple began to think of what could be preventing her from appearing to them. Perhaps she was unconscious and needing medical treatment, or someone had broking and hurt her…or took her.
He felt a familiar prenatal fear build inside him, filled with rage for her wellbeing. He called to her ones more before entering the back hallway that lead to the other rooms: his offices, bathroom, second inventory. At the end was the room he kept his most dangerous and dark magic artifacts. His anger disappeared to be replaced with only fear as he saw the door to his 'restricted artifacts' room open. He ran to the doorway stopping short seeing the wardrobe in the middle of the room was unshackled and open. Belle had fallowed him at his quick movements; she ran into his back when he stopped short.
"Rumple…?" She looked around the room, she had never bean in before. All the objects where covered in a sheet or with chains or some sort of rectangular paper. She turned her attention back to Rumple as he ran to a wardrobe in the middle of the room. A drape and cut chains circled the base. He called for Dorothy as he stepped inside; she herd him banging his fist on the back. She entered as well then, pushing fur cots out of the way. She took his shoulder as she called his name.
"Stop, what's wrong?...where, where's Dorothy?..." Rumple sighed as he felt the burning warmth behind his eyes begin. How could he tell her otherwise that their daughter was lost in another world. He took her arms pulling her close into a hug still in the wardrobe.
"She gone…she's lost and I don't know where…"
(Dorothy in the past: Neverland)
Dorothy walked quicker then she thought; soon finding herself behind Hook and Emma. Neal and Rumple behind her.
"Bae, you may think you know what you're up agents, but you don't." Rumple whispered.
"Then tell me…what really happened between you and Pan?" Rumple was quiet for a while.
"Peter Pan, destroyed my father…" It was strange to hear about her grandfather, all she knew was that he had hurt her papa; and that he never wanted her to meet him, and nether did she.
Emma and Hook began to argued ahead, about how to save David, when they stopped in front of Dorothy. She stopped as well.
"Once he leaves the island the night shade will kill him." Hook tried to speak quietly.
"Innless there's another cure…" Dorothy moved to stand beside her brother as Rumple gently past her. Emma turned to him surprised.
"Suddenly interested in what I have to say, thought I wasn't to be trusted." He moved forward between savior and pirate. Neal and Dorothy slowly fallowed their father to keep an eye on him.
"You're not…" Emma shot back mater of factly. "But I'll take my chances."
"If you'll remember I to was poisoned by dream shade by a pirate, and yet…"
"Yes, and we know how you cured you're self; the candle that takes another persons life. David is not that selfish." Dorothy knew of the candle, but she had no idea her father had used it for himself, another family secrete she was never to know uncovered.
"I don't know about that, the point is after my near death experiences I discovers much about the poison its self. I believe I could create an elixir, back in my shop."
"What's you're price?" Emma asked on her guard.
"This is, quiet the favorer, I'd expect on of equal weight when the time comes." Rumple slowly turned and moved on. Dorothy exchanged looks with the three before Neal moved after Rumple.
"No, when we get back to Storybrooke, you're going to save David because it's the right thing to do, no deal, no favors, understand." Rumple sighed but nodded slowly.
"Fine, I'll do as you ask…" Emma stared between them in disbelieve of the power his son had over the Dark one.
"Ok…I'll go tell David." Emma moved around then, with Neal fallowing close. Dorothy not wanting to be alone with Hook and her father at the sometime fallowed her brother. But they didn't get very fare as Tink, Snow and David returned.
"We're here, Pan's perimeter." Tink confirmed.
"It's time. Tink will sneak us in the bake like we planed. We grab Henry, in and out. Simple. You good with Pan patrol?" Emma asked Neal.
"Locked and loaded." He pated the bag that held the box.
"You mined if I ah…" Rumple walked to Hook and unsheathed his sword. Everyone, even Dorothy flinched a little. She was quickly learning this man was not her papa, yet. He didn't care for her as he would.
"Borrow this, you said no magic, I agreed, but I'm not walking in there with nothing but my good looks." As he past her to enter Pan's sighed lings first, Dorothy turned to hide her smile.
"Hold on…On the other hand." Hook began to argue after Rumple till David held out a spear sword to him.
"Here, incase you're good looks fall you." Hook held up the weapon.
"Thanks mate." The rest of the group turned to Emma.
"Lets get Henry."
Camouflage by the thick jungle sounding the lost boys camp was easy to hide in the perimeter. Watching the lost boys laugh, dance and play around the camp fire. Dorothy stood net to Neal, Regina and Rumple.
"Can I at lest use magic on these boys?" Rumple whispered to him, but didn't turn to Neal. He posed, actually considering but quickly turned deciding no.
"I'll do it." Regina announced.
"You remember the spell?" her past teacher asked.
She turned to him before rolling her eyes. Dorothy looked up at Neal with a large smirk. Which made him smile back for a moment. Regina waved her hand in the air making the lost boys campfire grew; the boys fell over at once. Rumple was the first to move out of the brush, the rest of the group emerged. Maneuvering around the now sleeping boys they began to look for Pan. But he was not among them. Emma called for her son but no answer came.
"He's got to be here some were." David tried to reason.
"Where!?" Snow breathed annoyed.
The group then heard a small yell for help. Emma was there first to retch the pleading call. Moving quickly through the thick brush till she saw a young girl in a cage. She knelt in front of the girl.
"You're an adult?..." The girl looked puzzled.
"My name is Emma, I'm looking for my son." Neal burst through the bushes but stopped short when he saw the girl.
"Wendy?" Rumple and Dorothy where close behind him as the others fallowed.
"I know you…" Wendy spoke directly to Neal then.
"It's Baelfire." He spoke warmly and very familiar with Wendy. Dorothy knew he had known her from the story's Henry and her papa told her but she was holding her tongue.
"It's really you!" She exclaimed in disbelief but excitement. Emma had stepped aside. Neal knelt to open Wendy's cage; she rushed out eminently embracing Neal tight.
"I thought I'd never see you again!" she smiled as they broke apart.
"What are you doing here?" Neal asked his old friend.
"Came back to save you." Wendy offered sweetly.
"You'd do that for me?" Neal asked in awe.
"Well, I couldn't bear for you to be without a family; not after you told us you're mother and father were both dead." This was another family secret Dorothy had bean spared.
"You told her that I was dead?" Dorothy sighed quietly; wishing she was still spared.
"It was easer then telling the truth: my father abandoned me." Dorothy looked between the two most important men in her whole life; even if she hadn't met Neal till now, hearing about her brother had made him important. It was amazing to her that they even talked to etch other before she was born at all. She looked over to see her father engulfed in sorrow. She assured herself that, that pain would get them to the relationships she was accustom to.
(Flash back: Dorothy in Narnia)
She arrived at the ice palace after being forcefully escorted by the Queens guard that was really a pack of talking wolves. She was lead to a through room; were she was made to kneel at the through. The cold snow pierced her bear knees she wished she had worn paints before working at the shop. She heard the echo of click, clacking shoes as a figure entered from the right.
"HER HINNES, THE QUEEN OF NARNIA!" was announced by what looked like an ugly garden Nome.
She herd more loud footsteps drawing closer to her that stopped once at the through. She tried to look up but the wolf sheriff stopped her.
"Leave her…look at me…" a cool emotionless voice, like air in a snow storm echoed to her. Dorothy looked up to see a pail woman. She had ice blue eyes and jet-black hair; piled on her head, waived around an icicle crown. She watched Dorothy for a moment.
"What is you're name child?" Dorothy found her voice but it was still quiet.
"D-Dorothy…I, I don't have a last name…" she considered with the wardrobe in the shop this Queen could have met her father, and probably not a pleasant one.
"How did you come to be in my world?" Dorothy considered her answer as well.
"I, fell into it. One minuet I was in my world, the next I was here." The Queen seemed satisfied.
"Do you have any brothers or sisters?" She asked a little more kindly, but Dorothy sensed it was fake.
"No, it's just me…" Dorothy lied.
"An orphan?"
"N-no, I have people I live with." The Queen then sighed as she stood. She was tale, for a women.
"Then you are not threat, I see no need for you…take her to the dungeon!" The pack of wolves circled her, snarling and growling. The Queen moved with Grace back to the right of the through.
"Wait! I need to get back home! You're just going to let me die! You just said I'm not a threat!"
"How dare you talk to her majesty that way! Why should she care about a common girl such as you?!" Dorothy gazed after the Queen as she left. The beavers had bean right, she was heartless.
(Dorothy in the past: Neverland)
Neal knelt next to Wendy, the rest of the group around them silent.
"Hay Wendy, since you've dean here have you seen my son, Henry?"
"You have a son?" Wendy replied with a question.
Ya, Pan wants his heart…" Wendy fidgeted awkwardly. Dorothy knew, Wendy knew. But she had to stand aside, let time have its way.
"Has Pan said anything about the heart of the truest believer?" Emma cut in.
"No…" Wendy answered stiffly.
"I'm sorry, he never mentioned anything about a heart."
"She's lying." Rumple spoke through gritted teeth. Neal turned to his father, as he advanced.
"Whoa!" Neal and David stepped in front of him.
"What the hell are you doing?" David held Rumple to keep him from getting close to Wendy. Dorothy sighed; she walked to stand where Neal had bean.
"Has he shown you to Henry, had you spoke to him, to persuaded the boy about being the only one that can save islands magic?" everyone was silent. Wendy was now shaking; turning back to Neal with a pleading look.
"Wendy, please, answered Dorothy…" Neal's voice towards the girl changed stern.
"…You don't understand…" Wendy began to plead.
"You're helping Pan?" Snow stood from beside her daughter.
"He's keeping you here and Keeping John and Michael alive; only if you do what he said." Wendy was now tearing up; still staring at Dorothy in disbelieve.
"Believe me, whatever he's promised; he will go back on his word." Rumple assured her.
"And why should I trust a man who abandoned his son?"
"Because you're brothers did. They trusted a woman named Belle; they helped her get this, box so we can defeat Pan." Regina recapped for the young girl.
"For now. And only if we succeed." Rumple attacked her conscience. Wendy looked back at Dorothy who knelt before her.
"Wendy, you need to tell them what lies Pan has told Henry. And where has he taken him now." Dorothy demanded calmly.
"How do you know that?" the younger girl asked. "How do you know about my brothers?"
"Because Henry has told me this; I'm from the future, where I'm from. But you're oldest friend needs you're help. Those people Pan had on the outside, in our world to watch you're brothers are gone. They can't heart them. Please, Henrys my best friend…" Dorothy's voice ended quite, shaky.
"…Ok, you're right, Pan is telling henry that he, and only Henry can save the magic, but it's a lie, he needs it to save himself; with it, he will become immortal…"
"What do you mean?" Neal knelt down next to Dorothy.
"Pan's lying, he needs the heart of the truest believer; with it, he will absorb all the magic in Neverland, once he dose-"
"He will be immortal." Regina finished.
"Yes, all powerful." Wendy confirmed.
"And what happens to Henry?" Snow asked, Wendy posed. Dorothy sighed already knowing.
"Well it's a trade' while Pan lives, Henry will die…" Dorothy looked up at Emma as she stood.
"Yes, that's what Pan told me." Wendy confirmed.
"I know, thank you Wendy." Dorothy stood and stepped back to stand next to Emma.
"What now Em?" Emma looked at Dorothy, obviously 'mama pissed.'
"Where did Henry tell you Pan was going to take him?" Dorothy didn't even hesitate.
"To skull Rock." Charming moved to Dorothy.
"How do we stop him?" Dorothy remained silent. Though she wanted to help her nephew, she had said too much already. Thankfully Wendy finally spoke up.
"Pan took Henry half an hour ago. There isn't much time now."
"Someone should stay behind to guard the lost boys when they wake up." Charming suggested.
"You don't need to stay behind." Emma began.
"David's right, get him home, tell him we love him." Snow assured.
"You can tell him you're self when we get back, Gold can core you're back in Storybrooke. We just need to bring some of this worlds water with us." Snow quickly moved from next to David, and around to hug her daughter. David could only reach out to Emma's hand, while Snow continued to hug.
"You didn't give up." She turned to Rumple. "Thank you."
"Apparently that's all the thanks I need these days." Hook spoke up.
"Tink and I will take care of things here, We'll meet you back at the jolly roger."
"Promise me if you're father and I don't make it back you'll get him home."
"We're all going back home, together." Emma assured her parents. Snow nodded and took off; David kissed Emma's forehead before he fallowed her mother.
