Dodgeball: B

Tossed.

Bounce!

DONK!

Tossed.

Tossed.

Dodged.

CRASH.

"Watch out!"

Smack!

WHISTLE.

"You're out!"

In no longer than five minutes, almost everyone were out of the game. It was also mostly thanks to a certain duo's inhuman strength and the ability to perfectly aim things. By now, it was only up to two members in Izaya's group, including himself; and much to Shinra's dismay, he was pulled over to the brunet's side earlier and now remains as one of the only two in the battlefield. As for Shizuo's team, it was pretty much only him. Therefore, it was okay to assume that the losing side would be Shizuo.

The brunet smirked with amusement, a ball in his hand as his eyes were darted on the blond like a predator would eye on its prey. Shinra was just fidgeting, moving around occasionally every time he noticed how close Izaya was to him. After all, he didn't want to get hit by a ball in his face nor did he want to face the wrath of the still fuming blond who just so happened to be their opponent.

Besides, what happened beforehand was simply... too impossible to even be described. On their side, there were some students on the floor, some were clutching onto their stomach or even their head. The balls that their teammates managed to dodge, few were stuck in the wall. Indeed, this was a proof that Shizuo had not at all been merciful in his game of toss. Shinra felt sorry for them, and even apologized to anyone that got hit near him since he knew all too well that the thrown balls were meant for his other raven-haired friend.

All the more reason to why Shinra was not looking forward to the remaining fifteen minutes. Little did he know that he was not the only one, given that the coach by the side looked all too shocked.

As Shinra continued to swim around in his mind of little thoughts, he was brought back to reality when he was taken by surprise, noticing that Izaya had suddenly went behind him and fingers dug into his shoulders, pushing him forward before ducking.

"Human shield activated~!"

"... Eh?"

Hold on. Human shield? Oh no. Oh no, no no no. Was Izaya going to—

".. EH?"

SMACK!

The ball had crashed into the face, hard enough to send the poor young man flying off not too high from the ground but enough to fly past over Izaya before tumbling down few times. "Ow..." A groan slipped from the said man as he covered his face with both hands.

"Oops. Sorry, Shinra!" On the other hand, Izaya did not react much but flashed a sweet, apologetic smile. Of course, he had apologized but it was said in a sickeningly sweet tone. Something that disgusted Shizuo to no end whenever he hears a sugarcoated statement coming from the brunet.

"Now look what you've done, Shizu-chan! You just hit Shinra in the face!"

A vein near his forehead popped. Now, he was pinning the blame on him? What kind of low blow was that?!

"STUPID—"

A growl was heard as Shizuo swung his arm to aim the ball at him, but realization soon dawned upon him, that he had only thrown nothing but an empty air. Alas, there were no more balls to be thrown. God fucking damn it, the blond cursed to himself, not quite satisfied with how the game had turned out to be. He had told the stupid flea loud and clear that he was going to lose, and he was going to win.. Ah, fuck it. Fuck the rules, who cares who wins anyway?! The point why he even willingly joined in the game was just to wipe off that stupid smirk off the pest's face in the first place!

"Aw, what's wrong, Shizu-chan? No more balls to throw?"

Izaya must have noticed what was happening as well. His smirk grew if possible, the ball repeatedly being tossed up in the air slightly before catching it with his hand. To Shizuo, it might have seem like that the brunet was trying to mock him, giving him a reminder that he now had all the balls. Did that stop him from wanting to throw something in the flea's face? Nope. Not at all. And the last thing he'd do is to give in. Hell, as if he's going to let Izaya win. So, what was he going to do?

"SHUT THE FUCK UP!"

Shizuo stomped over to the bench behind him, a steady grip held onto the tail of the furnished object. Yes, that's right. This is what he was exactly going to do. He's going to resort from throwing balls to throwing things at Izaya. Anything as long as he get to hit the flea. Everyone must have seen this coming, especially since students even those who are in pain had run out to get somewhere else safe. Who would want to stay when the place starts to reek of danger?

"Sigh. Really, Shizu-chan?" The brunet pouted before moving away quickly, successfully leaping away from the bench that collided onto the floor, a loud crash shaking the room. Seems like the twenty-minutes time limit for their game earlier has to be extended.

"Looks like the real fun is about to begin, ne?"

4:13PM, Outside Grounds, Raijin High School.

"You two are going to get in serious trouble one of these days." Kadota sighed, brushing a hand through his hair as he sighed quietly after hearing the story. Shizuo simply grunted, Izaya childishly skidding beside Kadota. "Don't even bother, Kadota-san. They're not going to listen anyway." Shinra muttered, busily squinting through his cracked glasses more than he should have.

Rewinding the story and long story short, neither sides won. In fact, it ended up as a tie as soon as Shizuo ran out of things to throw and the gym became too wrecked for Izaya to take blunt movements. Not to mention that the fight had to be stopped by the school's principal who in return had given them detention for two weeks. Alas, a bitter ending with no satisfaction coming from both sides.

"Tch, if the stupid flea wasn't there, this wouldn't have happened."

"That's plain mean, Shizu-chan. I'm not the one with anger issues or the one who did most of the gym-wrecking."

"You hit me in the fucking face, flea!"

"I'm pretty sure you hit more than one person back there, Shizu-chan. Really hard too!"

"You sure you didn't use everyone else in your team as human shields, Izaya?" Shinra interrupted, a bitter expression shown on his face.

"Awww, Shinra. I said I was sorry."

"At least make it sound like you mean it!"

"I'm sorry~!"

"— not even close!"

Ever since that day, the class never played dodgeball again. At least, they decided not to. And that say was nothing but an ordinary day for the four friends, everyone and Ikebukuro but the principal, the coach and victims of Shizuo's wrath. Indeed, it was a just a merely another ordinary day.

"By the way, you guys owe me a new pair of glasses."

Coming up: Laboratory I - Things went awry when doing a Chemistry experiment in the lab.

Note: I realized that I made a mistake. Before making an adjustment, I accidentally typed Raira instead of Raijin. What's the difference? During the times when Izaya, Shizuo, Shinra and Kadota were in school, it was called Raijin High School before it merged with another school.
