The Lost Lightning Bolt.

The Deranged Clown.

It's been a month since I was in this place, and one of the doctors offered me a special treatment that allowed the bones that were broken to heal faster, and I quickly agreed. It was a bit of a win-win for both of us, they could test new technology while I can get out of here faster.

Admittedly, I didn't like it at first because while I can move around, I have these annoying metal braces on my arms and legs that help me, but it makes moving a bit tough, the same with fluttering my wings, but I got used to it. At least now I can feed myself.

And right now, I was eating a bowl of porridge, while I was initially against eating it, it actually tasted pretty good, like most of the food here.

"HELLOOOOOOO!!!" Came a very cheery voice that I was weary of by now.

And through the door came my nurse, Nurse Joker, god was he a weirdo. The dude always wore this huge smile that gave Pinkie Pie a run for her money, his white coat and green hair makes him easily distinguishable in a crowd, but the thing that made him a weirdo in my case was the way he acted. Granted, he was a medical official and the one who treated me when I came in, or so I heard, but it's the dudes personality that gave me the heeby jeebies.

"Hello, Nurse Joker." I greeted.

He shakes his head and closes the door, "No no no, we went over this before, just drop the formalities around me, just Joker is fine." He replied.

I smirked, "Okay 'just Joker', what brings you here?" I questioned.

He chuckles at my subtle joke, "So you do have a sense of humor. I was beginning to think that I was the one who needed a doctor with that attitude you was giving me." He jokes.

I shrugged, "I can be funny when I need to be." I replied.

He nods before walking closer to my bed, "Now why don't you sit back, and enjoy a little magic show." He said before pulling out a mouthful of roses from his sleeves and gave them to me before waving his hoof in front of the now empty porridge bowl and it was clean as if nothing ever touched it.

I clapped my hooves, entertained by this magic show, especially since Joker was an Earth Pony.

He continued to pull off trick after trick that seemed impossible for an Earth Pony, and finished it with my favorite trick of all, the coin behind the ear trick.

He placed the coin in my hoof, "Now don't go spending it all in one place." He jokes, lightly tapping me on the nose.

I laughed before putting the coin away, "Say Joker, I was wondering about something." I stated.

He nods, "What is swimming around in your head, darling?" He asked.

I sighed, "Why are you a nurse instead of some kind of stage performer?" I asked.

His face immediately loses that joyful aura as it dropped into a frown. He sighs and sits down on the chair next to my bed and rubs his hooves together and stares at the bottom of the floor, clearly collecting his thoughts, "It's a memory I don't find myself returning to often, but when I do, I find myself conflicted with many emotions it just makes my head spin." He states, "But I guess I can tell you." He quickly adds.

He takes a deep breath before starting, "I remember my first show like it was yesterday…."

(Flashback, Joker's POV)

Granted, my audience was just a bunch of foals I volunteered to babysit, but it was a start nonetheless.

And from then on, I kept on putting on shows for foals and other ponies younger than me.

I tried to keep it from my father, but he soon found out and started to beat me for believing in such a childish dream. My mother didn't do anything to stop it, and my older sister believed I was foolish too.

So beating after beating, I stopped putting on shows for anypony. I believed what my dad wanted me to believe; that I could never be a stage magician since I was an Earth Pony.

I lived with this belief in my head for two weeks until a Unicorn teacher told me that no matter what anypony else told me, that I should pursue my dream. And so I did.

I powered through the beatings and berating from everypony. And she was there by my side every step of the way.

And when I was 10, I put on my biggest show for my school, I dazzled everypony with spectacles of light and illusion. But it seemed that my dad didn't like the show and kicked me out.

But the teacher took me in and continued to encourage me.

And with all this stage business, you'd thought I'd have a Cutie Mark about stage performance, but you'd be wrong.

One day; when I was coming back from school, a kid was hit suffered a major hit to the chest and was guaranteed to die, but I was miraculously able to get him healed long enough for the hospital to come and pick him up, and that's when I got my Cutie Mark.

(End Flashback, back to Lightning's POV)

"I was devastated that my Cutie Mark wasn't stage related, but my teacher told me that just because my Cutie Mark was related to the medical profession, that I didn't have to give up stage performance." Joker finished his story.

I was speechless from Joker's tale, "What happened to the kid who got injured?" I asked.

"He survived, went on to become pianist." He answers, "I want you to know Lightning Dust, that whatever Cutie Mark you get, it doesn't mean you have to abandon everything you love." He lectures, his comedic facade still dropped.

Before we could dwell on the situation, my doctor, Dr. Tensai, came in, with a tray of food, "Thanks for keeping our patient entertained Nurse Joker, I will be taking over now." He said.

Joker's comedic facade comes straight back, "I'll you see you later Lightning, don't have too much fun without me." He responded before leaving.

Dr. Tensai shook his head and placed the tray of food in front of me, "How you doing today, Ms. Dust?" He asked.

I shrugged, "Doing fine so far." I replied, opening the main dish seeing it was potato soup, which tasted better than I had expected.

He nods, "Good, good, your progress have been going swell for the past month." He said, "If things keep going like this, then you'll be out of here in another month or two." He announced.

I nodded, "Hey, Dr. Tensai, is what Joker told me true?" I asked.

He nods, "Yes, me and him have been classmates ever since high school, we broke paths during college." He said, "The reason I never helped him was because I was occupied with my own profession, but I can tell you that his story is true." He reconfirmed.

I nodded, "He's certainly interesting." I admitted.

Dr. Tensai nods, "He is interesting, I'll give him that." He agrees, finishing whatever he was writing on his clipboard, "All right Ms. Dust, everything seems to be in order, see you tomorrow." He said, getting up and leaving.

I nodded and finished my food before laying down, ready to go to sleep with one thought one my mind; I'm really starting to like it here.
