Chapter 2

Somewhere In Iraq

Danny opened his eyes to darkness. His pulse quickening for a moment, until he realized he had a bag over his head, he wasn't blind. Though this conclusion didn't do wonders for his blood pressure, it calmed him a little.

The bag was suddenly ripped off his head roughly. He blinked against the dim, though still present, light. Once he had gotten his bearings, more or less, he began to assess his current predicament: His head was pounding, probably from the explosion, and his wrists were killing him as they were tied roughly behind his back. There was also rope around his shoulders as an extra insurance. He felt the rope around his calves and ankles pulling him tight to a hard, wooden chair. Who do they think I am? Goliath? It's not like I'm going to snap through rope with ease and run. he internally rolled his eyes. He heard Arabic muttering in the background of his mental whirlwind: Will I ever see Linda again? Mom? Dad? Joe? Jamie? Erin? Pop? Little Nicky? Did they know?

Danny was jolted from his personal turmoil by a cloth being pushed against his nose and mouth. And though he fought, he could do little to stand against the open arms of a drug induced darkness.

Jamie didn't understand. How could his brother, his idol, who was seemingly indestructible, be missing? He had begun to pour himself into his studies. If – no, when – Danny came home, he wanted to have something for the Marine to be proud of. He had closed himself off from the outside world, much to the worry of his family and stayed close to his studies. His routine was simple: he went to school, stayed quiet, only answering the teachers' occasional question, came home and hid in his room, only emerging for meals, staying quiet for those too.

Jamie's family was worried that if Danny didn't come home, that they would lose two sons, one to war, and one to depression.

A/N: So, how was it, do you want more Danny scenes or more family scenes? I'm open to criticism and ideas. I will post as often as I can, but I do have school. R&R! Thanks for the reviews, the reads, the favorites, and the followers.
