Chapter 2: The Rescue

Mary Jane found herself floating into a vortex. She didn't know how long she had been there. At first she was terrified, yelling for help. Eventually her fear faded and slowly lost her sense of time. While not wonderful, it wasn't torture either. It was just a violet swirls that went on and on.

She vaguely remembered her home, but then the image would slip her mind and the violet swirls would be all she would know. She then remembered Peter Parker. She clung to the memory longer than anything else, but then it slipped away and the violet swirls would fill her mind.

Suddenly a white flash occurred and she saw something.

"Mary Jane!" A familiar voice shouted which then echoed all around her.

"Peter?" She whispered, recalling the man she loved.

"Is she alright?"

"She's been in a vortex outside the normal dimensions of space and time." A second voice said. "Go get her Spiderman."

"Mary Jane, take my hand!"

"Peter." MJ said, her voice sounding strange to her. She couldn't make sense of anything. She then felt strong arms grab her. In front of her was an obscured face with large insect eyes which seemed strange. "Peter is that you?"

"Mary Jane! Madam Web, get us out of here. "

"On it, Spiderman."

"Spiderman?" Mary Jane whispered, not understanding what was going on.

The City of New York was quiet by the standards of a noisy city. There was traffic, people coming and going. But other than that, there was nothing unusual. In Forest Hills section of New York, outside a certain house, a portal appeared. Moments later, three individuals emerged.

One was Spiderman. The second was Mary Jane Watson in Spiderman's arms, incoherent. The third was the inter-dimensional being, Madam Web, sitting on her life support chair.

Spiderman put the young woman on the ground. "You alright, MJ?"

"Peter is that you?" She asked weakly as she lay on the ground.

"She's fine, Spiderman," Madam Web assured the hero. "Trapped in the Vortex is disorientating. It will take a few moments for her mind to recover."

"Good," Spiderman said looking again at Madam Web. "So what happens now? Between us I mean."

"I doubt we will see each other again," Madam Web said softly. "As for you, you will move on with your life. You will face many challenges and hardships."

"I doubt anything could be harder the battle we had." Peter commented.

"But for now, you will have a moment of happiness." Madam Web assured the hero. "And I do believe you are entitled to it. Farewell and good luck."

Then the inter-dimensional being withdrew into the portal which then vanished.

Spiderman looked down at the incoherent woman he loved. She was unchanged. Tall, well built, long red hair, gorgeous face. She was clad in the yellow sweet, purple jeans and red cowboy boots she wore the night she vanished.

"Peter." She sat up, blinking. "Spiderman?" She exclaimed in surprise. "I thought I heard Peter."

Spiderman stared at her, his face unseen under his mask. "Mary Jane, are you alright?"

"I think so," The redhead said, rubbing her forehead. "What happened?"

"You were trapped in another dimension for months. I just manage to rescue you."

"Thanks," MJ replied, and attempted to get to her feet as she looked around. "This is Peter's place." She paused, her face full of shock."

"Mary Jane, are you alright?" Spiderman asked the woman he loved.

MJ turned to Spiderman, her face perplexed. "Peter, is that you?" She asked her voice low.

"What?" Spiderman asked his voice in shock.

MJ eyes narrowed. "Spiderman, are you Peter?"

Spiderman hesitated. "Yes, MJ. I am."

Mary Jane then ran over and hugged Spiderman. "Peter, I missed you."

"Me too." Spiderman said, returning the embrace.

Mary Jane then withdrew and reached for Spiderman's mask.

"Hey, wait, I…" Spiderman started to say but stopped when MJ only stopped pulling the mask at the Peter's nose and then kissed him passionately on the lips.

Peter returned kissed, enjoying the moment with all his heart.

To Be Continued

Author note by Data Seeker. Not much to say at the moment. I thought it be best to show that Mary Jane has been rescued and while she and Peter are currently happy, they won't have a happy ending.

Tune in next time.

Author Note by Mr. Rock: Even sad ending stories need happy beginnings to make a plot.
