The rest of the day went by smoothly. Skyler had a few classes with Emmet, and a few of his siblings, Skyler later learned the names of them all, whether it was by them introducing themselves, or by hearing stories about them.
Skyler had three or four classes with Emmett, One with Alice, and Edward, And two with Jasper. She was glad she didn't have a class with Rosalie because the blonde didn't seem to like her all too much.
She was glad that she had at least one of the Cullens in almost every class; That way Skyler wouldn't have to try and talk to anyone else, And for the classes, she did have that didn't have someone familiar in Skyler kept to herself. She couldn't be bothered to be any more social today,
Walking out of the entrance of the school, Skyler looks around before stepping onto the concrete of the parking lot, as she begins walking to her mothers SUV, she hears a voice call out her name. Turning To face the person calling out her name Skyler is met face to face with Alice. Well more face to the forehead, seeing as Alice was shorter than her. Skyler waves at the shorter raven-haired female. "Hey, Alice." Her smile is small. Honestly, as much as Skyler would like to have company at moment she just wanted some time to herself, as she was exhausted.
"Hey, Skyler!" Alice says happily. Skyler nearly winces at the high pitch of her new friend's excited voice. "I forgot to ask for your number earlier!"
Nodding, Skyler pulls out her phone and hands it to Alice. She waves at the other approaching Cullens. She smiles slightly when the three males out of the four-wave back. Emmett seeming to be the most her excited about seeing again, Rosalie clearly unhappy with her presence. the other two, Edward and Jasper gave the girl a small smile, to which she returned with her own small smile. Skyler then glanced at Rosalie. she would never understand why the blond hated her so much, she had bearly spoken to her, if at all. Sighing slightly to herself, Skyler decides to push the thought away and think about it at a different time.
Emmett's eyes turn down looking at what his shorter adopted sister is up too. Seeing Skyler and Alice exchanging numbers makes a smirk appear on his face, A Mischievous look reaching his eyes. Walking over slightly quicker he looks down at Skyler, the smirk on his face not fading in the slightest. "So Tiny, giving out your number, huh? How about you be a doll and slide your number into my phone as well."
Skyler's eye twitches. Gently taking her phone from Alice, once she's done, she looks up at Emmett an unimpressed look covering her face. "Well aren't you smooth." she snarks. trying not to smile at the taller man, she had become friends with during the day.
"That's not the only smooth thing about me if you know what I mean. " Emmett says smugly with a wink looking down at the girl in front of him. He keeps a smirk on his face, forcing himself not to laugh at the look that crosses Skyler's face after he finishes speaking. He finds the angered look that flashes through Skyler's eyes absolutely adorable.
"Emmett! You're disgusting!" Rosalie's voice rings out behind Emmett, she had finally walked over to them after dragging her feet because she did not want to be near Skyler.
"I agree." Skyler voices her response, Now leaning against her SUV. As much as his comment annoyed her, it also amused her. Skyler watches as Emmett and Rosalie begin to argue and bicker back and forth. She also notices Jaspers apologetic look towards her, so she smiles at him, attempting to let him know its okay.
Turning to Alice once more, Skyler begins to speak. "Thanks for giving me your number Alice, You can text me whenever, or if I've got time I'll text you. Through I should probably be on my way home, My mom will be needing it soon so she can get to the hospital for her first night shift as a nurse."
"Oh ok!" Alice says, still happy. "Talk to you later Sky!"
With that said Skyler opens the driver's door to the SUV and begins to climb in. She smiles at the nickname Alice had given her before shutting the door and starting up the car engine she rolls down the window and says her goodbyes to the rest of the group. With four out of the five also saying- their goodbye the Cullens move from in front of the SUV and begin to climb in their own cars, ready to go home as well.
Starting to pull out of the parking lot, Skyler carefully maneuvers her way out of the high school parking lot and onto the road. She reaches over to turn on the radio and listens to some of her favorite songs.
Before long Skyler finally reaches her new house. As annoyed with moving as she is, Skyler would be lying if she said her house wasn't nice. She would also be lying if she said Forks wasn't beautiful. As much as she missed her old home, old town, Skyler also thought the forest surrounding her new home, was magnificent. Parking her car, she pulls out her keys stopping the Engine.
Opening her door she gets out, as she climbs out she hits her head on the roof of the car. "Dammit!" She curses wincing at the spike of pain throbbing from the back of her head. She hoped it wouldn't give her a headache. Shutting the Suv door with agitation, Skyler starts walking until she reaches the front door. unlocking it, with her new key Skyler sighs and walks inside as the door opens. "I'm back." She mumbles quietly, thinking her mother to be asleep so that she could get prepared to work a full night at the hospital here in Forks.
Just as expected her voice was the only things that rings through the quiet house. The only thing there to greet her was the sound of her own voice echoing through the living room. Sighing she kicks off her shoes beside the door and puts her backpack on the shelves her mother had decided to put up in the foyer of the house. Skyler then starts upstairs to her room, but not before grabbing a small snack from the kitchen. A Granny Smith Apple,
Once Skyler makes it up the stairs she takes a bite out of the sour green apple in her right hand. she hums at the taste, happy with it. walking through the hall Skyler finally walks to her bedroom door and opens it, and shrugs her jacket off before throwing somewhere in the room. Taking another bite of her apple Skyler smiles and flops backward onto her nice soft bed. "Oh, bed. How I've missed you!" She exclaims after swallowing the bite of the apple that was in her mouth and rolling side to side on her bed. After a few moments, she finishes the apple and gets up to get rid of the remains. Bored, Skyler turns on her laptop, which had been sitting on her desk right next to her bed. Placing the laptop beside her she begins to watch Greys Anatomy for nearly an hour and a half.
laying on her bed peacefully, she smiles happily as the next episode begins. Having been so immersed into her show, when a ding like noise sounds through the room, Skyler perks up when she hears the familiar sound of her phone going off. Grabbing her phone she looks down and sees a text message icon on the lock screen of her phone, the message is from Alice. Unlocking her phone, she reads the message that appears on her screen. 'Hope you don't mind, but I gave Emmett your number. He wouldn't stop bothering me for it. :3' Skyler then hears her phone go off for a second time, except this time it was in her hand. She watches as another text message flashes across her screen. This time the number is unrecognizable. She assumes it's Emmett. Turning to her laptop, she pauses her show so that she could finish it later.
'What's are you up to Shorty? :P' The text message reads.
Skyler sighs at the nickname. She was going to have to get over the nicknames, as she doubted he would ever stop calling her some type of name that meant short. within a few seconds, Skyler's small fingers begin to run across the screen, replying to his message she writes. 'Not much Bear.'
"Why the fuck would I write that." Skyler groans embarrassed, at her use of words she throws her phone to the other side of the bed. It's not like she was wrong though, the man not only towered over her but as clearly built. So in her defense, he could be said to have the appearance of a bear.
Hearing her phone go off again, Skyler stops freaking out and climbs over towards her phone, once she has a hold of it she unlocks it, hoping that she hasn't weirded him out by calling him a bear.
That would be horrible. Skyler could certainly admit the man was good-looking, and she would feel so utterly stupid if she drove him away by being weird.
"lol. Nice nickname, I like it. It's manly. Anyway, I was wondering if you wanted to come hang out, Alice hasn't shut up about you and now our parents want to meet you as well.
Skyler chuckles, and quickly texts back a slight smirk appearing on her face. ' Oh so the only reasons you want me to come over is so your sister will shut up about me? Wow, I'm hurt.'
Not even a moment later, a response is quickly sent back. 'No! that's not what I meant, I mean it'd be nice for me to see you too..'
Skyler laughs loudly at the struggling brute.
I'm messing with ya dude, chill. LMAO :3' She sends back still laughing but then she sighs. She wouldn't be able to go, her mom would be waking up to start getting ready for soon.
Before Emmett can respond Skyler types out. 'Cant hang out, My ma's gonna be getting up to get ready for work soon so she'll need the car.'
After waiting a few moments, another text appears glancing down at it, it reads. 'Well shit. I can pick you up if you want.'
Skyler's breathing froze. Did she want him to pick her up? Did she want to go hang out at the Cullens? Sighing, she shakes her head back and forth hoping to rid the thoughts from her mind. Looking at her phone for a moment, she forces out her next response. 'Uh, Sure.' Skyler gives him her address, and when Emmett tells her he would be on his way Skyler jumps up from her bead and walks into her connected bathroom. Although normally she didn't care about her appearance, she didn't want to go to the Cullens house looking like a Hobo. Looking into her appearance, she decides that her outfit from school looks fine. She wears a Grey Tee- shirt covered by a red flannel, with some simple black jeans and some sneakers.
Grabbing her phone, Skyler quickly asks Emmett to text her when he arrives and not to beep, so he wouldn't wake her mother. Walking through her house she stops walking once she reaches her mother's room. Opening the door quietly she enters, her mother lay asleep comfortably on her mattress. Quietly searches to leave her mother a note so that when she finally wakes up, she wouldn't freak out at the absence of her daughter.
'Hey, mom, don't freak out when you wake up. I made some friends today and they wanted me to come hang out. So that's where I'm at. I've got my phone and keys on me, and my friends giving me a ride. Call me if you need anything. '
Leaving her mothers room, Skyler gently shuts her door. Turning to face the stairs she begins to walk down them and then towards her kitchen where she grabbed another apple and started munching on it while she waited for Emmett to arrive.
After about ten minutes, Skyler's phone goes off. Looking down at the small cellular device in her hand, she sees Emmett tell her he was right outside. walking over to the window she takes a peek outside. She sees a Black jeep sitting in her driveway. Walking back over to her door, she unlocks it, steps out of the doorway, and locks the door again. Jiggling the doorknob to make sure it's locked, she smiles in satisfaction when it doesn't move.
Turning to face the Jeep, she Seems Emmett sitting in the driver's seat. He smiles and waves at her, in return, she waves back, a smile on her face as well. Walking over to the passenger side, she gently opens the car door and climbs inside. "Oh my god, I fucking love your Jeep!" She exclaims her eyes twinkling in excitement.
"So do I," Emmett responds, smugly. He prided himself in taking such good care of his baby. "She's my baby, gotta take care of her." He says a smile on his face, and a look of adoration towards Skyler, He hadn't expected her to like cars, but he was glad she did. It would give them something to talk about.
Slowly an evil smirk crosses Emmett's face, he tries not to chuckle before speaking. "So shorty you ready to walk right into the Lions den?"
