Chapter 1
Here's Chapter 1. Sorry i didn't put an explanation in the Prologue. This is my first multi-chapter story so please R&R!
Fogstar didn't stop running for a long time. Her lungs were burning and her paws felt like they were going to fall off, but she wanted to make sure that she was far out of reach from the Clans. It was dawn when she finally stopped running. She was panting heavily and intent on stopping, she dragged herself into a bramble bush, not noticing the thorns pricking her skin and fell into a deep sleep.
"Welcome, Fogstar," A silky voice whispered into her ear and Fogstar woke up with a start to a black she-cat with bluish-purple eyes that changed everytime you blinked.
"Meh, it's you Illusion," Fogstar sniffed, standing up and shaking out her dark fur. She looked around, recognizing the murky water and gloomy setting. "Since when were you welcome in the Dark Forest?"
"Always," Illusion growled. "Now, no time for chit-chat, we need to go."
"Well aren't you moody today," Fogstar purred, as she followed her, oh what would you call it, acquaintance, through the dark trees. There was wailing, screeching and snarls ringing in Fogstar's ears as she walked with her companion. After a few minutes, Illusion stopped in front of a clearing that had a group of cats sitting in the middle. They were speaking in hushed tones, constantly looking up to see if others were listening. Fogstar rolled her eyes. 'They're acting like secretive mousebrains,' Fogstar thought with a snort. Too late, she realized she had snorted out loud, and the cats looked towards her with growls.
"Who is this?" One of them, a pale brown tom with white markings and dark blue eyes, growled. But, he was shorter than Fogstar so he had to look up, to which she chuckled silently.
"Oh it's just Fogstar," Illusion mewed with a side glance at said she-cat.
"She's the one who got driven out of the territories?" The mrrow of laughter came from a white she-cat with green eyes and gray ears and paws. Fogstar narrowed her eyes, not liking being mocked about her failure.
"Umm, I don't think you should mock Fogstar," Illusion mewed slowly as Fogstar's fur bristled slightly along her neck. But she forced herself to calm down, for the remaining cats looked at her warily.
"I'm Oakheart, the one who has no sense and wants to get on everyone's bad side is Whitefeather, the black and white tom is Badgerfang, the bluish-grayish one is Blueheart, and the tabby is Tigerlily," Oakheart addressed everyone in order. Fogstar nodded.
"And what am I doing here in the first place?" Fogstar mewed while studying her claws.
"Well, you said you wanted revenge so I thought that these cats could help you," Illusion meowed coolly. Fogstar snapped to attention, glaring at her.
"Like I would want to work with that, that abomination!" Fogstar spat with a glare at Whitefeather, then proceeding to turn her head. Whitefeather simply sniffed, feeling offended and started to fade. Fogstar looked down and realized she was starting to fade, as like others.
"We will continue this conversation tomorrow night," Fogstar then hissed and she faded completely.
When she woke up, the sun was shining brightly in her eyes. Fogstar felt stiff all over and her pelt had thorns in it. The large she-cat got up from the bush she crashed in and shook out her fur, managing to get out the loose thorns. She stretched, her joints cracking with a satisfying 'pop!' and yawned, then being alerted by her grumbling stomach.
"Oh right," Fogstar said out loud, "I haven't eaten since last night. But first I need these thorns out." It took some time, but Fogstar managed to get all of the thorns out. She laid them in a discarded pile then lifted her muzzle up, scenting the air for something to eat. Only then that she realized that she ran into a meadow that was laden with prey under bushes, hiding in burrows or just sitting out in the sun. Sniffing the ground for tracks, she found small pawprints. 'Too large to be a mouse but about the right size for a rabbit,' Fogstar thought as she followed the tracks through the bushes.
Sure enough, there was a fluffy stub of a tail bobbing in the air and a brown rabbit looked up, eyes focusing on the opposite direction of where Fogstar was located. Fogstar set her paws down lightly on the ground, sneaking up behind the rabbit. Unsheathing her hooked claws, which dug into the ground automatically, she crept up the last few mouse-lengths. Licking her jaws, she prepared to leap. And then the rabbit started to run. Fogstar was so surprised that she sat there looking stupid for a good minute. Shaking her head, she leaped forward, but the rabbit was nowhere to be seen.
"Mouse-dung!" Fogstar cursed at her missed meal, claws tearing up the dirt. It was close to sunset so Fogstar settled down for sleep with an empty stomach. She made a mental note to hunt first thing in the morning. As she closed her eyes, she swore she saw a glimmer of starlight before her eyes.
Fogstar kept her eyes closed, even as Illusion hissed.
"Get up you lazy cat."
"Fine bossy," Fogstar opened one gray eye and then got up, following her as they began to walk.
"You still haven't made your decision about whether you want the cats to work with you," Illusion began. Fogstar halted.
"Yes I have. I want the others, but not Whitefeather. She's way too annoying for my taste." Illusion sighed exasperatedly, already knowing that she was going with that answer.
"Come on then," Illusion muttered, continuing to walk with Fogstar following her. Again like last time, the snarls and hisses continued. They reached the clearing, seeing the group there as well. Yet they were lounging around.
"Greetings again, Fogstar," Oakheart mewed, coming from behind her and walking over to Tigerlily. Everyone looked up as Oakheart greeted her, Whitefeather snorting, Badgerfang dipping his head, Blueheart smiling a little, and Tigerlily waving a paw.
"Have you decided yet?" Badgerfang asked as he sat up. Fogstar nodded and called everyone together.
"Alright you guys, I've picked who I wanted to take with me back to the Clans. But we're not starting right away, for we are going to train here so WindClan and ShadowClan will have a nasty surprise," Fogstar mewed. The cats nodded in appreciation.
"Then it's settled. Time for a battle plan," Illusion mewed and they all got smiles on their faces.
Well that's Chapter 1. Looks like Fogstar is planning her revenge. But that wont happen for about another possibly 5-10 chapters? Idk im planning this story as i write it. There might be something big going to happen next chapter.
