TERA Rising

"Arthur, we need to get going soon!" A fairy appeared on the man's shoulder, looking like a flying green bunny.

"Wow, what's that?" Alfred was curious.

"A guide didn't come to you when you came on the island?" Alfred and Matthew shook their heads and Arthur sighed.

"Well, maybe you could find some of your friends, Bunny."

"Wait!" The rabbit was about to leave when Matthew interrupted, "You said Bunny's a guide, right?"

"Yeah, I help keep you informed on things in the world, like what you need to do next and things like that." said the bunny, "I'm Falerus Mercu, by the way, but you can just call me Bunny."

"I was thinking that, since we're all in one group, why don't you act as a guide to all of us?"

"That would actually be a lot easier, so we don't have to have guides all the time." Arthur said, "What do you think?" Bunny thought about it, then shrugged.

"Sure, I don't mind."

"You're cute!" Anya said, and Bunny giggled.

"Thank you!" he flew down to rest on her head, "You're cute, too!"

"Don't forget Zo-zo!" Kiecey put in.

"And also," Arthur leaned close to the brothers so the others couldn't hear, "if that's true, then what about your quests?"

"Quests?" They blinked and Arthur facepalmed.

"You must be kidding me." he sighed, "Weren't you sent here to train by someone?"

"Well, we came here by ourselves, so no one else knows where we are, not even our parents." Alfred gave a sheepish grin and Arthur and Matthew shook their heads.

"The main reason we didn't tell anyone is because our parents didn't want us to join the war." Matthew put in. Arthur nodded.

"I see." he sighed and ran a hand through his hair, "Then you're lucky to have me. As for quests, the people on the island give you some of them to train you, once they know you're a trainee. My first one was to get some bark off of that root."

"Sounds boring." Alfred said.

"Well, for your information," Arthur huffed irritably, "you both are still at Level 1 while I'm almost to Level 3." Alfred growled; he didn't like to get bested. Their escalating fight was also attracting the attention of the others. Matthew was trying to separate them, but they didn't move.

"How'd you know that, limey?"

"This!" the Elin shoved a watch into the human's face, "It's the latest in adventuring technology! It shows you the map of the area you're in, gives you a radar system for enemies, keeps track of your quests, and even shows you your level, HP, and MP!" Alfred swatted his hand away.

"Like I need something like that!" he grumbled, adjusting his glasses, "Give me a good-old notepad, pencil, and map any day and I'll be fine!"

"Oh really?"

"Yeah!"

"I challenge you to a fight!" Arthur pointed at Alfred, "Best 2 out of 3 wins!" Alfred grinned.

"You're on!" The men separated and grabbed their weapons, ready to fight.

"I thought you said you guys don't like to fight." Kiecey said to Alfred's brother. Matthew sighed.

"We don't, but Alfred gets into trouble a lot, so I'm not surprised."

"But can't they get along?" Anya asked, hugging Zo-zo tightly, "They were fine earlier!"

"Like Alfred, Arthur has a temper and is very stubborn." Bunny said, "Just let them fight so they can cool down."

"Hi-yah!" Alfred struck first, rushing forward and using one of his swords to jab at Arthur. The man was just as quick, somersaulting out of the way and grabbing his shuriken. Instead of throwing it, he began to twirl it in his hand, trying to slice Alfred. The human quickly stepped away, where Arthur then threw the shuriken. Alfred blocked it and sent it back with his swords, where they were back where they started. Both grinned.

"Not bad, you git."

"Not bad yourself, limey." They put their weapons away at that.

"I thought you both wanted to do best 2 out of 3. Why are you cutting it short?" Kiecey asked.

"We gauged each other's strength through that little bout, and we both know we'd be equal in a fight. Besides, we cooled down." Alfred said, "I still think the regular, non-tech stuff is better, though."

"Say what you want, git." Arthur rolled his eyes.

"Zo-zo says it's almost time for the sleep experiment!" Anya said, "It's the last one, but I don't like them."

"I don't either." Kiecey agreed, "They make us go to sleep in the middle of the day! And sometimes when we don't want to."

"Why don't we come with you?" Matthew asked, "You know, so you don't have to be alone in it?"

"Really?" Anya hugged Zo-zo to her chest. The men smiled.

"Yes, really." Arthur helped Anya to her feet as Alfred did the same with Kiecey. Matthew got up on his own, being careful not to hurt his tail.

"Then let's gather up the boys and go to the village." The males followed as the girls led the way.

"Gauging strength wasn't the only reason you both stopped the fight, was it?" Matthew asked. Both Alfred and Arthur shook their heads.

"We heard what Anya said, so we made sure not to hurt each other and stopped after we knew our strength." Arthur said. Matthew smiled.

"Maybe we can make a great team after all, if we keep their wishes in our hearts."

"Yeah." Alfred nodded, as well as Arthur. They stopped walking, however, when the girls stopped.

"Everything suddenly got dark." Anya whimpered, "It feels like something bad is about to happen!"

"Tiaran doesn't seem to feel good, either." Kiecey added. Suddenly, there was a strange roar, and out of the ground came several tree monsters.

"Behind us!" Alfred barked, where the girls took shelter.

"Ghilliedhus." Arthur said, "What are they doing here?"

"They appear sometimes and steal Tiaran's sap, making her sick!" Kiecey said.

"Girls, come with me, we have to find the boys." Matthew said, "Is there a safe place we can go?"

"Uncle Emun's in the village, but he keeps all of us safe." Anya said. Alfred unsheathed his swords.

"Then let's kill two birds with one stone." Alfred said, "Mattie, take care of the kids and get to the village. Arthur, you're with me, we need to take some of these guys out." The other two nodded and Matthew grabbed the girls' hands. Grabbing his shuriken, Arthur threw it at the nearest Ghilliedhu, cutting its legs. It screeched in pain and faced Arthur, who continued to attack it. Alfred did the same with another monster and Matthew ran with the girls, looking for the boys along the way to the village. Once that was done, they joined in the middle of it all.

"Why aren't they attacking?"

"They're too intent on getting the tree's sap. Besides, they'd notice us if we got too close, and if we moved by too fast, they'd think we were a threat."

"How do we get rid of them?"

"We need to take out the leader and then rip up the seeds. Once their leader is gone and there aren't any seeds for new monsters, they should leave." Alfred nodded.

"Gotcha. Who would the leader be?"

"The biggest monster." They scanned the crowd of monsters, attacking some when they got too close to the tree, before they spotted the leader.

"You take the right, I'll get the left." Arthur nodded.

"Once the leader is beaten, they should be disoriented. The seeds also shouldn't be far from here, as they want to be close enough so they can attack the tree."

"Any specifics on where they're buried?"

"Usually in stinking mud, not that hard to find." Alfred nodded.

"On my count, we attack at the same time. One, two, three!" They rushed through the crowd, between the monsters' legs, and attacked the leader.

"Thank you for helping the children." Emun said to Matthew once they were safe, "Who are you, may I ask?"

"I'm Matthew." the popori nodded, then looked down the trail, "I hope Alfred and Arthur are okay..."

"Are they you're friends?" Matthew nodded once again.

"They stayed behind to deal with the threat, so I hope they aren't hurt."

"I've never seen ghilliedhus directly on the island before." the man said, "Usually they come out from the rocks, having grown from under the island, but they can't reach Tiaran, seeing as all its roots are on the surface."

"Do you think they left some seeds behind to grow later, after they were defeated?" Emun nodded.

"It's possible."

"Yo, Mattie!" The two turned to see Alfred and Arthur trudging up the trail, looking fine.

"Guys!" Matthew raced down to meet them, as did Emun, "Are you okay?"

"We're fine." Arthur turned to Emun, "And, may I ask, who are you?"

"I'm Emun." he shook their hands, "Anya told me what you did, as well as Kiecey. Thank you for protecting them."

"We also got rid of those ghilliedhus." Alfred said, "We ripped up their seeds and beat up their boss!"

"You defeated Varkas?! He's been giving us so much trouble and you beat him?!"

"Yes." Alfred gave a sheepish smile as Arthur answered, "Here are the seeds." He handed the man a leather bag.

"Well then, thank you once again for everything. You're all a bit special, I can tell. Maybe you'll make the Federation, because you certainly seem like you will."

"Thank you for the praise, sir." Matthew said.

"Good bye and good luck to all of you!" Emun waved as he left the three.

"You guys really beat them up by yourselves?" Matthew asked once they were alone.

"Yeah, but Arthur's the one you should be praising." Alfred said, "He said what we should do to take them out and such." They turned to the rabbit ninja as he shrugged.

"My home used to deal with ghilliedhus all the time, it wasn't uncommon."

"Now that we're all together, let's check on the children." Bunny reminded. They nodded.

"So, where did the kids go?" Alfred asked his brother.

"Over there, to that temple." Matthew pointed, "Now that the attacks are over, I wonder if they'll be doing those tests the girls mentioned."

"Let's go, we promised we would be there for them." Arthur and Matthew followed Alfred and we led the way to the giant building.

Here are some notes from this chapter and some I forgot to mention in the last chapter:

If you know TERA, then you know those aren't real cities. I'll be making up some of the places they come from, so I'll mention it when I do.

Matthew is a little larger than most poporis, being as he is a polar bear popori. That doesn't mean he isn't light on his feet or a quick archer, though. He also still has his glasses, as does Alfred.

I created the watch, seeing as they wouldn't know all of that stuff just on sight. And you know that fairy that follows you and gives you hints? I've decided that the entire TERA Rising group only has one to share between them, who is FMB!

Also, being as the TERA Rising group is diverse, it'll have at least creatures from all races and everyone will be a different class. But, like with Arthur, there are going to be a few changes with the whole 'classes with special users' thing. Ex: Gilbert is a gunner and Ivan is a brawler, both classes which belong to females. I'm not against girls or anything (I'm one myself), but I don't want to change their genders.

And one more thing: THERE WILL BE ROMANCE! Not everyone will have romance, but there are several pairs I'm aiming for!

Anyway, read and review!
