Part 44 (Bridges)
Tessa watched as T'Pol and Hoshi sipped their tea. Both woman had clearly been raised in households that were of the nobility. Hoshi Sato may assume the role of a junior officer but Tessa had no doubt she came from a noble family.
The women manners were to precise to delicate to belong to common people.
"So Hoshi how is it you speak my language?"
Hoshi sipped her tea and then set the cup down. "I study languages. Spanish was the third language I learned. Japanese is my native tongue and Protegeese was the language of my homeland."
"I thought you were from Japan?" Tessa asked confused.
"My family is from Japan but we lived in Brazil."
"How was this?"
T'Pol answered." Earth has become one people. "
"I do not understand?" Tessa said confused.
"Earth still has nations but overall it is ruled by a central government. It is also part of a larger group of planets. While we have planetary independence we all work within the Federation." Hoshi tried to explain.
"So on your Earth there is peace?"
"Yes it is." Hoshi said
"That would be a wonderful thing." Tessa said "Peace is a dream we have long wished for."
"It is a worthy goal." T'Pol said. "It has taken Earth many years to achieve it."
"I hope we find it one day." Tessa said. " Tell me about this alliance your people want?"
"Captain Archer will explain this better. But we need supplies and are willing to trade for it. The arrival of the Klingon's have complicated matters. They are a noble people in many ways but they can be conquerors." Hoshi said
Tessa looked at T'Pol "Are they dangerous to my people?"
"They can be. Enterprise however will not abandon you. We will protect you because you are human." T' Pol said
"I do not understand how you are here. How can I believe you? How is it that they would invade us?" Tessa said
"We have no proof that this would happen. It is just that is possible." T'Pol said with total honesty." As we have said the Klingons are honorable people. They are however an empire and empires seek to grow. It could be they may seek a peaceful alliance. "
Hoshi looked away and took a deep breathe "I agree with the Sub-Commander if they seek to have peaceful relations that might actually be in your world's best interest. They are a powerful and few would seek to harm a world allied with them."
"Are you by chance suggesting they may be better allies to have?"
Hoshi shrugged." In all honesty they have a more powerful military. The difference is in culture and custom. They are not human but as we found with our allies the Vulcan's , Denoblians ,Tellerites and Andorians that does not mean they are not worthy. "
T'Pol was impressed with Hoshi's honesty. " It may well be that this world could become a bridge between all our peoples. Peace is always better and if indeed we could work together here then perhaps peace would spread. That possibility is what the Captain hopes to explore. Of course your world would need to help with this. Your leaders would need to choose to become the bridge."
Part 45 (Bad News travel's fast)
Sartell watched as his sips were joined by Duras and several of their allies. He was pleased to note he now had the equivilant of a full squadron. This would be more then sufficient to destroy two Klingon ships especially with one badly damaged. He wondered why the Klingons kept their enemies alive?
"Bait " answer he received.
Maybe Duras was not the fool he had believed? He would reserve judgment.
------------------------------------------
Commander Shran was bored. There was no two ways about it since the war ended life was simply to easy. He sighed as he leaned back and sipped his ale. What he needed was excitement. He looked over at Jamal tending his infant son and smiled. While he like all Andorian males adored family life he craved a challenge. Sipping his drink he read his latest correspondence with the Pink Skin.
We will be investigating the Beta section for the next few weeks. Nothing important and I am looking forward to a dull mission for a change. The Vulcan Data base suggests that this area has little value. However we both know how accurate they an be at times. There was a smily face after that understatement and Shran had to smile. A dull patrol nothing of importance. He set the PADD down and humped.
He flipped on his own data base and cursed. Right … As always the Vulcan's had been less then truthful. Then again they did not know about the uses of certain crystals yet. Shran tapped his PADD and made a decision. He would join the Pick Skin. Knowing the Humans and Enterprise in Particular they would find trouble. They always did. He owed the Pick skin a favor and wanted to pay it back. Then there was the fact he was simply bored. One thing was certain life was never boring around Archer and his crew.
------------------------------------------------
The Klingon Battle Cruiser Golan and Scout ship Herat were beginning to grow concerned at the lack of a report from the surface of the planet when a coded message came in.
"Captain we have found these people to be human. However that are honorable beings. I fear I was caught up in … negotiations to contact you sooner. Sir I am beaming up a bottle of wine a gift. It is almost as good as out blood wine. I must say an alliance might be the perfect counter for House Duras." Mortag
Mortak was pleased. "Agreed I will beam down at once. " He hung up and then contacted Enterprise.
"I am beaming down to negotiate with your Captain. Lt. Martok will be in charge in my absence."
Travis nodded and said "Thank you sir. I am certain we will become allies. Or at least it is my hope. I believe your people would be of great value to us."
Mortak laughed heartily deciding he definitely liked this human.
"Perhaps young one Perhaps." He cut the transmission and headed to beam down.
Just then a warrior ran up to him.
"Sir we just got this via sub space."
The warrior was shaking with rage and fear.
Mortak looked at the PADD and began to curse loudly and fluently. "Inform both ships. We must be ready for anything." His heart was enraged and he was fearful. Did any of his family left behind still live?
He hated this but now he would need to ask for help. Pride had no place if he was to rescue his family from the Duras.
Part 46 (Help)
Mortak beamed to the Hacienda and
walked to the door. He knocked on
it hard. He was very angry at
the news he had received and he needed
help now. He had to secure
the materials to repair his ship quickly
and prepare to take on
the Duras.
Donna Maria Teresa went to the door. She saw a tall man waiting there.
"Excuse me please is Mortag here and Captain Archer?"
"Yes he/they are. Please come in. May I help you?"
"I….apologize for barging in. I must speak with them at once."
T'Pol and Hoshi had
followed Tessa out. T' Pol noted the look of
agitation on the
Klingion's face.
Jonathan we need you here.
Jonathan
sat up. He looked about. "Mortag your Captain is here."
He
said
Mortag set his glass down. He rose concern showing.
He looked at the
captain and wondered how he knew. Then he noted
that the Captain
could see the front door. He relaxed a little
believing his imagination was working over time.
Mortak stepped into the house.
He saw Captain Archer and went to him.
He stopped in front of him and
said. "I need your help.
"
Archer was taken aback by this blunt statement.
"Archer I must for expediency sake set my
pride aside. Once you aided
my government…You acted honorably
then. I am hoping you will be
honorable
now. " he looked
at his brother. "Mortag the family…. They have been
either
captured or murdered."
Archer was stunned. He knew
Klingons' were a private people. The
Captain had to be desperate
to seek help from an unknown outsider.
"Commander Shran
has said you are a man of honor. That you and your
Star Fleet have
helped him and his people. I consider Shran an Ally.
He owes me a
favor or two. "
Why I am I not surprised. Archer thought.
"Shran is a friend. "Archer cocked his
head. " I would be happy to
lend assistance in repairing your
ship. Any information we have we
will share.
He has helped me
on occasion."
"Captain you do not know me but I must
have help. My mother ,wife
youngest son and daughters may still be
alive. Duras has butchered
the remaining members of my house.
"
"We must go after them." Mortag said his eyes
were blazing. "We do
not need help. We have my ship our
crews."
"Silence!" Mortak said "We have
that but the enemy has sided with
Romulas. I have proof." He
handed a PADD to both Archer and his
brother. "Captain I know
my people have not acted honorably toward
you. But, I swear if you
help me save my family I will see your name
is cleared. I will do
all I can to create a peaceful relationship
between our
peoples."
Archer could see the Captain was worried and
afraid. He read the
report and nodded. "Alright we will help.
Let us speak to the lady of
the house. She knows all the local
merchants and with her help we
should be able to get the materials
our engineers need quickly."
"Agreed. I will pay
anything to get my family back safe." Mortak said
Archer
nodded "Well save your money for the supplies. I would like
to
think you would help me in a similar situation. Any chance you
know
where Shran is? He could be useful to us both."
"Maybe…. Let me think about it." Mortak said
Chapter 46 (Weighing the options)
T' Pol went over to her mate.
Helping Shran save his daughter had
almost killed Trip. Shran
however had proven himself an ally.
Jonathan is this wise? We do
not know this Captain?
His family is at risk T' Pol I do not
believe he would lie. This may
be our best chance at securing
better relations. It may also be the
safest course of action. If
we help they will not feel threatened. If
we refuse they may
become desperate and the situation could spiral
out of control. If
we assist them then they may look for peaceful
relations with
these people. If they feel we are not helping they
have no choice
but to act with less tact. No, it is the right thing
to help
them.
I was merely pointing out the potential risks.
That
is your job as my second in command. I appreciate your input
T'Pol
and I am weighing the risks. I just think that a desperate
husband
and father not to mention head of his house and Klingon is a
bad
and dangerous combination. I would rather risk helping this
family.
We may just actually improve our own relations along the
way.
Logical Captain. She said nodding slightly.
Tessa
listened and considered her options. She felt this man was
powerful.
He had the presence of a Don and this was disturbing. If
his
family was at risk however she would offer her assistance. She
was
justice in this pueblo and that was not going to change even if
the
people involved were from an other world.
"Captain what
is it you need to secure your family? How may we help?"
She
asked. "I am Maria Theresa Alvarado and I have some
small
influence here in this territory. If you need anything I can
provide
or that we can get we will help. Families should not be
used as
political pawns."
Mortak looked over to her.
He was surprised at the woman's offer. She
had no knowledge of him
or his people yet she offered assistance
freely. For all she knew
he could be a monster.
"We need materials to repair my ship.
I have a list of the materials.
I had hoped Captain Archer and his
crew could help us negotiate with
your people. We,… we would not
wish to cause offence because we do
not understand your
customs."
Archer listened and was once more impressed.
This officer was not
like other Klingon's he had meet. He seemed
willing to negotiate
rather then just take. While it may be the
circumstances Archer was
willing to go along and give him the
benefit of the doubt. Perhaps
taking him at face value and showing
good faith would pay off in the
long run.
"Captain
Mortak if I may have your list? Trip take a look at this. If
we
have it on Enterprise and can spare it send it over.
Commander
Charles Tucker III is my chief engineer. T' Pol see if
you can find
equivalents here. Dona Theresa maybe you and the
Doctor could assist
her?"
"That could work.
Robert maybe you could get the chemicals they need?
If you do not
have them maybe Xon Du will at the apacathary?" Tessa
said
"I
would think there is a good chance. If not maybe the shop will
have
them." Robert said. "Captain do you need assistance
rescuing
your family? I have had some…. Some small experience in
this area."
"Did she not say you were a doctor?"
Jog said "How will this be of
use. Your profession only has
use for the wounded and weak."
Methos growled and grabbed
the Klingon warrior. He knew this man was
a body guard or second.
He slammed his fist into his gut and
dropped
him.
----------------------------
Malcolm
Reed looked on and had been ready to intervene however it was
clear
Doctor Helm had the Klingon under control.
"Jog is it…I
was not always a doctor." he growled. "Once I was
death
himself"
Mortak looked shocked at this sudden
move and then he began to
laugh. "I like you Doctor. I will
let you know. "
"Robert please. Ego has no place
here. This man's family needs our
help. When we have freed them
you may play with his second. "
Tessa

Sartell
read the report and knew that they would need to secure the
planet.
He knew that the house of Mortak was made of Klingon Augments
who
appeared human. He had to secure the planet to prevent them
from
recruiting help. Humans tended to be simple minded and they
might be
convinced to help Mortak. No securing the local
population centers
would be vital. He would send in shock troops
and eliminate any
potential resistance.
He had considered
the problem with care. He decided that he would
eliminate all
human leaders. He would destroy the leadership then
enslave the
human population. He would use these humans and begin
colonizing
this world. Careful reviews of the records changed his
mind on to
the planets value. No this world would become his fortress
his
home. He would help Duras destroy his enemy and in the process
gain
a private colony. A world that would begin his own
dynasty.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Hoshi sent a message to Enterprise for the Captain.
"Travis we
have to prepare to help the Klingons. The Captain is going
to need
the transporters to send materials over to them. It seems we
will
be helping them. Have Ensign George contact Commander Shran if
you
can. We need his help. The Captain is negotiating for us. We must
be
prepared for trouble."
"I will take care of it. I
just hope we do not have any more
surprises." Travis
said
Ensign George shook his head. Yep we are in for trouble.
When ever
that particular Andorian shows up life gets complicated.
We have Klingons, humans and If you count the commander and doctor
Vulcan and Denoblian.
If I had any doubt
this was a duplicate of Earth that would surely end it. Now all we
need is the Romulans for a full house. He rolled his eyes. Oh, yeh
and the Tellers. He used the slang term and wondered what else could
go wrong on this nice quiet mission? Find the Andorian right. His
luck the entire Orion pirate
fleet show up.
Part 47(Disillusionment)
Luis could not remember having enjoyed himself more. He drank his coffee and smiled. Who would have thought that Marta was so charming? He was having such a good time his meal grew cold.
------------------------------------
Markus Grisham entered the Colonel's home and heard him laughing. He could not believe what he was hearing. Colonel Montoya was flirting with a common servant. He knocked on the door.
"I am sorry to disturb you sir but I have news from the patrol."
Montoya was annoyed but business was business and he rose. "If you will excuse me a moment." he said to Marta.
She nodded politely surprised he was treating her like a lady. She had to admit she enjoyed his gallant ways.
Luis picked up his coat and followed his Captain out. "Alright what is so urgent that you disturb my luncheon?"
Grisham just looked at him. He had been enjoying entertaining the woman? That was news. Then again even he liked to slum it now and again.
"I did not intend to disturb your days sir. Only your orders said to report any strangers. Several men have been spotted heading for Dona Maria Theresa' home. I thought you should know."
"Yes, This is most disturbing. Get a rig ready. I believe I will drive Marta home now. She has expressed a wish to return home and the doctor has said she may leave. Perhaps I can discover what is truly going on."
"A wise precaution sir." Grisham said
"Yes, There is more going on here then we know."
Marta had walked over to listen. She knew Tessa had to be warned. For a moment she had forgotten what Luis was capable of. She sighed saddened because she really had been enjoying his company.
Part 48 (Prize)
The Romulan fleet was joined by several Klingon vessels. The ships all remained cloaked as their commanders transported to the Romulan command ship.
"Duras we have much to discuss." Sartelll said as he lead the way to his office. He had been formulating a plan to take control of the small settlement his scout ship had located. "You have Mortak' wife and son?"
"Yes we do. His eldest is in our sick bay and will likely perish and his younger son and daughters are our captives along with his wife and mother. His daughter in law and her children are also aboard one of our ships. I thought it wise to separate them." Duras said most pleased with his actions.
Sartell kept his disgust out of his features. While assassinating an individual for power was the Romulan way even he would not stoop so low as to murder children for so small a prize.
---------------------------------------
Melanie worked her hands free. She had to escape and save her family. Her eldest had been taken to the infirmary and she would be surprised if he still lived. She vowed he would be avenged as he hands came free. She moved and quickly released her mother in laws bonds. " We need to get away."
Part 49 (Guess who?)
Amanda stepped off the transporter and headed for the
bridge. She was
to give
Lt. Maryweather a full report while
the Chief briefed the rest of the
MACO's. She might only be a
Corporal but for some odd reason she kept
getting sent to officer
land. She sighed and knew it was because she
had been on so many
missions with the command staff lately.
She hurried along and
hoped that there was finally some good news.
------------
--------- --------- --------- ----Shran had a bad feeling
about all of this. Some how he knew that the
Pick skin was in
trouble again. He could not explain how he knew but
he did.
Sometimes it was damned incontinent to have a sense of honor.
He
sighed and ran his had through his white hair. One would think
that
damned human was almost family. Shran sighed as he listened to
his
firsts report.
------------ --------- --------- -----
Ensign
George was shocked when he received a long distance
communication
from the VHC ship Surak.
He listened to the message and swore under his breath.
"What is it Ensign." Travis
asked. He had been listening to Corporal
Cole's reports.
"I
am sorry sir. It seems that Ambassador Soval is on his way here
sir."
Travis swore knowing that the Vulcan was likely
to upset the delicate
balance. "Well thell him we do not
need his help." BR
"Sir I would love to but it was a
one way coded transmission. I have
no way of sending a return
message. Maybe Hoshi could but I do not
have the skill." He
looked embarrassed.
Travis sighed. "Alright we will make
do. Hail the Klingon ship. I do
not want them to think this is an
aggressive move."
"Aye sir." His com officer said.
Amanda grinned. Soval coming here. She could hardly
wait. She missed
that crusty old Vulcan, I wonder if We will find
some time together?
I will maybe get to guard him again. Somehow
that thought did not
displease her.
Part 50 (Escape)
"I fear we are being held to be used against Mortak. Duras has killed to many of our family for this to not be avenged He would kill us all unless he had some other purpose for us."
"I am afraid you are right mother. We must get away or else out house will be lost. They dragged my eldest to a sickbay but I overheard the guards say he was dying." Melanie said "If my son dies I will feed Duras his own heart."
"I will help you. But first we must get the children to safety. "
Melanie nodded and opened vent. It was small but it was large enough for her to slid through. For once she was grateful for her small stature. Slipping inside she crawled to the outside. She listened carefully and then kicked the vent. The outer vent flew off. She was glad they were on a Duras bird of prey for they were cheaply made. She climbed out and keyed the door freeing her family. She looked at her mother in law and they both seemed to hesitate. Run or save her first born?
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Mortak paced he wanted to howl with frustration. He hated this waiting. However the human captain has a point it would be far more efficient to gain the wiling cooperation of the humans of this world. He did not have time to break them.
"Captain Archer, Captain Mortak it is time to go. The ride into town will take at least 45 minutes. The carriage is waiting for us." Tessa said
Just then they heard the thunderous sound of horses hooves. Tessa looked out and saw a dozen soldiers with the Colonel in the lead.
Damn it. She thought. What is he doing here? She opened the door. "Colonel what do I owe the pleasure of your visit?"
"I have brought Marta home. She was feeling restless and worried for you." He went to the carriage that Tessa now noticed and helped her friend out. There was a smile on his face and he seemed to soften as he looked at her.
Ok what happened? Who took the colonel? "Thank you. Dr. Helm is inside maybe he can check on her once I have helped her to bed."
Tessa moved to help her friend. She noted the sad look on Mart's face as she glanced at the colonel. If he hurt her I will cut out his black heart.
Luis looked at Maria Teresa and sighed. "I came to escort you all into town. I was concerned that bandits might attack you."
Mortak looked at him and then at his brother both Klingons looked amused rather then offended. For that Jonathan was grateful but somehow he doubted that was the reason the Colonel was here. "I can see you have a large force. The bandits must walk in fear of you."
Luis Montoya straighten with pride. "We do our best with what we have sir. Are you ready to leave?"
"Yes we are ." Tessa said looking at the others. "Why not go mount up. I will help Marta inside." She said smiling. "Dr. Helm can you come check my maid."
"Of course." he said smiling. Methos definitely wanted to know what Marta had learned.
The trio made their escape to Marta's quarters.
T'Pol looked at the trio and had a feeling that they were updating each other. She looked at her mate.
Jonathan Archer was no fool. He knew the colonel was here to gather intelligence. Smiling he drew the Colonel in. "Colonel Luis Montoya I would like you to meet an associate of mine. "This is Captain Mortag and his Brother Captain Mortak. As you know Mortag joined us earlier his brother just arrived and came to check on him."
Mortag grinned and decided to tease his elder brother. "Colonel My brother is the elder and he takes that role seriously."
"Indeed I do Colonel. This one." He motioned at his brother. "Is always getting into trouble. I promised our mother to keep him safe."
Luis relaxed. The attitude was to relaxed to be an act. Was it that simple a family matter? He considered how his elder brother Alexhandro had looked out for him. Yes this did make sense to him.
" Well little brother did you manage to get the supplies we need?" Mortak asked.
"No, We were going to discuss the business after dinner." Mortag said grinning.
Part 51 ( Invasion) R- Violence.
The Romulan and Klingon Stike teams beamed directly into the Pueblo a startled population ran for cover. Juan watched as the strangers strode toward the main government building. Sgt. Lopez came running out as he had been informed that a band of armed strangers had appeared into the pueblo . He had been left in charge when Captain Grisham and Colonel Montoya rode out.. He had been eating his lunch and was highly angered at being disturbed. His ears were still ringing from the dressing down he received form both of the officers for allowing the fight in the cantina. He had lost face and authority in front of his men and he was eager to regain his control. If subduing some bandits was his way back into the officers good graces he would do so with all dispatch.
----------------------------------------------------------------
The Enterprise was doing routine scans when it picked up the presence of additional Klingons in the town along with Romulan Bio signs.
"Sir I think we may have a problem." Ensign Farmer said "Romulans and Klingons just beamed down to Terra Beta. Sir They did not cone from the ships we are in communication with. "
"Damn." Travis said "Corporal Cole I need you to beam to that Klingon Vessel. Let them know what we found and suggest ask if I may beam over to discuss this problem. We do not want our newest arrivals to realize we are know they are there."
"Aye sir." Amanda said leaving. So now I am a glorified messenger. She sighed but at least she be doing something.
10 Minutes latter Travis appeared on the bridge of the Klingon war bird.
"I am sorry to do this sir. I wanted to ensure our communications was secure. Our ship took a lot of damage and I did not wish to endanger my crew."
The Senior Lt Nodded. "Wise Lt. Travis. What is your plan. We have no idea of the number of Romulan and Duras ships. I can not leave my Captain to them."
"Neither do I wish to leave my team alone. However , we need supplies and repairs. We are in no condtion to take on an undamaged ship much less more. While I know Klingons never run from a fight a strategic withdrawal of your main vessel and Enterprise may be necessary. Before you object they know we are both here but not about your scout ship. If need be it could easily extract our crews and captains. I was thinking maybe we could trick them into thinking we are going. The scout could then gather supplies safely and we could monitor the situation from a safe vantage. This would also give us time to work on a plan of attack. The Corporal has said that Commander Shran owes your captain a favor or two. Well he owes us as well. Maybe we can reach him. His help would event he odds a little. I am told Klingons are brilliant at strategy and I am hoping you will be willing to use it to help us. I admit to not having the experience you do. I want to save my captain but not sacrifice the ship to do that."
Martok look at him and was impressed. "Agreed. While running is not my first choice you are correct in that we have few options. I think we are both fortunate that we have not yet been attacked." He paced. "We will regroup. " he motioned for one of his warriors who came to him. "Beam down tell my father what has occurred and tell him we will be back soon. Tell him he must secure the supplies and that the scout will retrieve them and bring them to us. Go."
The warrior saluted and ran to the transporter. "Human I have an idea but it will greatly depend on what we learn. I am leaving a cloaked probe here. Maybe we can find what these animals are up to."
Travis nodded in relief.
Connor Mc Cloud of the Clan Mc Cloud and his companions rode into the plubeo. It had been several days of hard ridding to arrive her from Los Angeles. He could not believe that his the message he had received from the oldest of all his people. He had come immediately and been accompanied by his kinsman Duncan MC Cloud and their friend Amanda also known as the Raven. If Methos' was worried then he to was concerned. They had ridden all day and all night for several days. They rode in to the settlement in time to watch the lead Klingon warrior remove a sword like weapon and gut the Officer in charge.
"Who is in charge of this dung heap." Duras called
"I am in charge her bandito. You will surrender your weapons and prepare for interrogation." Sgt Lopez said he was in no mood to be polite. He could not believe the brazen actions. He had no reason to believe these people were dangerous. Their pathetic armor was primitive as were the weapons they wore. He called for his men.
That was a mistake. To be arrogant with a Klingon or even a Romulan warrior.
Duras looked at him and laughed he looked at his Romulan companions whose brows rose in amusement.
Duras Looked at Sartell and said "Humans are so stupid." before Lopez could react the Bathyl had been drawn and the Sgt. Looked down to see his insides on the ground.
The Klingon and Romulan troops then began to fire disruptors on the soldiers and civilians. They did not care who they killed.
MC Cloud watched in shock and he and the other quickly were fired on. A mistake as the Highlander was tired and irritable. Several Klingons charged them Bathyls held high.
Swords came out and the four Immortals began to fight.
The Klingons were in a mood to play so they pulled bladed weapons. Sartell watched motioning his men to secure the building. Let the Klingons deal with these troops no sense losing his own.
He was amazed to see these new comers clearly had skill with bladed weapons.
He watched with detached interest as one Klingon lost his head to the one in the long Black cloak. Sartell was also surprised to see a female engage one of his men. She was easily stabbed with and honor blade. Clearly she had courage but it did little good against a trained centurion.
He dismissed her and then heard a cry as his centurion fell. She had risen and cursed.
"You bastard I liked this shirt. It cost me twenty pounds in London last year. " She seemed unaffected by the wound. She had slit his throat. With his own blade that she had somehow taken from his belt. "Nice blade it might pay for the shirt."
"Amanda quite fooling around." Duncan called. He ran and called the people. "Run we will cover your escape."
The people of the pueblo wasted no time in following his orders. They ran for their lives. The soldiers to their credit did all they could to protect the civilians. However they were clearly no match for the trained warriors they now faced.
"I am so going to shoot. Methos." Amanda said
"For once I agree with you." Duncan said
"What are these things they are bleeding green." A soldier shouted. "Oh By the blessed Mary they are demons. They have pointed ears. "He had knocked the helm of a Romulan. Who promptly ended his life by breaking his neck.
"Connor we have to get away those weapons." Duncan shouted as a disruptor evaporated a soldier.
"Lets go. Follow those soldiers." Connor shouted. His Kinsman nodded as he grabbed the fresh horse Amanda had retrieved. It had no saddle but that did not bother the younger Highlander as he swung up. He was relieved to se Connor mounted and the three immortals retreated. The were followed a civilian.
"Hurry follow us. I know where the Colonel went." Don Helegio shouted. His portly form was securely on his mount. His wife Vera mounted in front of him for safety.
They followed him having no idea of the lay of the land. Hoping he was leading them to a place where they could regroup.
