Pirates and Shinobi on the High Seas

Yup I'm going it again. I am taking one of my favorite Anime/Manga's and I am adding my own OC to join in the adventures of the main characters and adding an amount of Crossover.

Captain Smoker was not the only one moved by Straw Hat Luffy's performance on the Execution Platform. While standing in Louge Town's center, a young man named Menma, witnesses Luffy smile as Buggy the Clown tried to kill him. Seeing this, Crow has made the decision to join the Straw Hat Pirates. How will their trip through the Grand Line change with this new addition?

IMPORTANT NEW AUTHORS NOTE AT THE END!

Chapter 2: Enter the Grand Line!

It had been hours since The Straw Hat Pirates had left Louge Town with their new crewmate, Uzumaki D. Menma. The storm that had moved in during their adventure in the town of the beginning and the end didn't seem to be letting up, but that did not seem to bother Nami. In fact, she was so confident in her navigation skill that she let the ship sail with the wind, while she, and the rest of the crew, sat in the cabin, eating, drinking, and getting to know Menma.

"So Menma, why don't you tell us about yourself?" Nami asked as she sat across from the new crewmate, who was drinking a cup of tea.

"Well my name is Uzumaki D. Menma, one of two sons of Namikaze Minato and Uzumaki Kushina, who are known as The Yellow Flash and the Red-Hot Blooded Habanero in the Grandline. I am from the Island Archipelago of Uzu, located within the Calm Belt." Menma said in a calm voice as he sipped his tea, causing Nami's eyes to widen in fear. "The navy and world government calls our island, the Island of Chakra, due to the fact that ever person on the Island can use Chakra, a combination of Physical and Spiritual energy that every living thing has. It's the reason I'm able to bend the element to a certain degree, and how my people were able to travers the Calm belt. I wouldn't be surprised if none of you heard of Chakra or my island, seeing as how the World Government prefers to keep us a secret."

"That's impossible… There's no way for anyone to traverse the Calm Belt, let alone for an entire culture to live there." Nami said in shock, while the rest of the crew just stared at the two in confusion.

"Ha, Uzumaki/Namikaze rule number one, Impossible isn't a limitation; it's more of a challenge. The only reason we are able survive in the Calm Belt is because of our Chakra, allowing us to control the winds and waters." Menma said.

"Hold on, what's this Calm Belt you two are talking about?" Usopp asked. Releasing a sigh Nami was about to get up and grab her world map from her room when Menma touched on of the studs on the leather that was wrapped around his arms. As soon as his fingers touched the metal, his hand became enveloped in small cloud of smoke. When the cloud dispersed, the Straw Hat Pirates eyes widen in surprise when they say that Menma now held a piece of paper, which turned out to be an exact copy to the world map Nami had in her room.

"That was so cool!" Luffy said in excitement, not caring how their new friend had just made something appear out of nowhere.

"How did you do that?" Zoro asked.

"I have storage seals engraved into each of the metal studs. You see many of the families on Uzu all had some form of specialty in some shape or form. For my family, the Uzumaki, we specialized in Fuinjutsu, or the art of sealing. By using complicated runes and designs we are able to use our chakra to seal various objects, energies, and more into other objects." Menma explained.

"Most of this shouldn't be possible, but not much is known about the Calm belt." Nami said before she directed everyone's attention to the map. "Right, I've heard the rumors that center on both the Calm belt and the Grand line. According to this map, and the map we got from Buggy, the only entrance to the Grand line is a mountain entrance." Nami said shocking everyone but Menma.

"A Mountain!" Usopp shouted.

"Yes, at first I thought it was impossible, or that Buggy's map was a fraud, but after seeing Menma's map I know it's not. Look here, the place where the guiding light was pointing to is Loose Mountain on the Red Line." Nami began.

"What? Do you mean that we will hit the mountain?" Sanji asked.

"No, it not like that. Can you see a canal here?" Nami said, pointing at the point on the map.

"A Canal? Don't be stupid. Even if there's a canal, there's no way a ship can go up a mountain!" Usopp denied.

"That's where you're wrong. Loose Mountain goes by another name, Reverse Mountain. It gets that name because of the fact that ships are able to travel up the mountain through the canals you see here." Menma said.

"Not that I believe you, but what's the reason for going to the Grand line by using the entrance? If we head south, we can get to the Grand line too, right?" Zoro asked

"Not unless you're have a Wind or Water nature." Menma told the swordsman.

"That's a bad idea, Zoro!" Luffy said.

"Luffy's right. There's a reason for that." Nami told Zoro.

"We're supposed to go to the grand line by using the entrance because it's cool." Luffy shouted.

"That's not the Reason!" Nami shouted as she hit Luffy in the head.

"Look! The storms gone!" Usopp announced, excited that they were finally free of the storm, and drawing everyone's attention from the issue of how to enter the grandline.

"He's right, the weather's so calm." Sanji said as he looked out the window over Usopp's shoulder.

"That's impossible, if we head towards the storm we will arrive at the entrance." Nami said before everyone rushed outside, where the crew discovered that they had in fact left the storm behind, revealing a perfect day. However, only Menma seemed to notice the fact that no wind seemed to be blowing, despite just leaving a huge storm. This only meant one thing, which caused the boy to grin like a mad man.

"Wow, Nice Weather." Usopp exclaimed, happy to be away from that horrid storm.

"What happened here?" Zoro asked who, along with Sanji, was unable to comprehend how the storm could just disappear like that. However, Nami had finally realized what had happened, and was beginning to shake in fear.

"Guys were in deep trouble. We're in the calm belt!" Nami shouted in fear. Of all the places they could have sailed, why did it have to be he calm belt. But how could have sailed into it? She made sure their heading was correct before they talked to Menma. Somehow they must have been blown off course.

"There's that name again. Both you and Menma keep saying Calm Belt but neither of you will explain what the hell it is." Zoro said in annoyance. Sometimes that Navigator could get on his nerves, but so could the rest of the crew, but it made life interesting.

"I'll explain, but first we need to get out of here before the Sea-Kings find us." Menma said before he jumped onto the railing in front of Nami's Tangerines. "Someone get on the rudder and get ready to turn the ship around, I'll be providing a powerful enough gust of wind to get us back into the storm." Menma said, surprising the crew. Here he was, the newbie, giving them orders, but then again he lived in these waters so he needed to take control to make sure his new friends live to see that their dreams come true. Eventually Nami was able to get over the shock and turned to the crew.

"You heard him, get on the rudder!" Nami shouted before turning back to Menma, "Let's see if everything you've said is true." 'For our sake I hope it is.' "The rest of you get ready to row us incase Menma can't create a big enough gust of wind!" Nami shouted at the crew.

"But why, what the big deal about this "Calm belt"." Sanji asked.

"The Calm belt, which is actually two seas that surround the Grand Line, gets its name due to the fact that no currents run through these waters: No wind currents for sails to catch, and not ocean currents to ride. That is why I said only people with Wind or Water Chakra Natures, or someone with Jutsu that can move a ship could travers these waters without the use of oars. Outside of devil fruit users we are the only ones that can create currents of wind and water strong enough to out run..." Menma started to explain, only to be interrupted by the ship shaking.

"AAHH! ITS AN EARTHQUAKE!" Usopp shouted as he held onto the railing, his knees shaking like crazy.

"Don't be such an idiot, we're in the middle of the ocean!" Nami shouted back.

"Crap, they found us…" Menma said, his skin a little paler than normal.

"Wait, what found us?" Sanji asked. However, before his answer could be answered, the entire ship began to raise into the air, as several large Sea Kings raised their heads out of the sea. This reaction of the Crew was instant, Nami hugged the mast in fear, Luffy, Sanji, and Zoro's jaws dropped in shock, Usopp's mouth foamed over, and Menma paled even further, if it was possible. Without hesitation Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji each grabbed an oar, ready to get to rowing while Menma performed a long sequence of hand signs, ones that would have confused the others if they had seen them.

"Get ready! As soon as this thing goes down, we row ourselves the hell out of here!" Zoro shouted. Unfortunately, for the crew, the Sea King had other plans in the form of a large sneeze that sent the Going Merry flying, resulting in the crew to screaming as they held on for dear life.

"Brace yourselves!" Nami shouted out, holding on to the mast with a death grip. At this time, Menma, who had been using Chakra to stay on the railing, narrowed his eyes in concentration before calling out his technique.

"Water Style: Water Dragon Jutsu!" Menma shouted before a large dragon made of water shot out from the sea, scaring the crew, before moving under the ship, becoming a form of transportation for the going Merry as it descended to back into the sea. Once on the surface Menma went through a few more hand seals before inhaling a large amount of air before calling out "Wind Style, Great Breakthrough!" before releasing a giant blast of air that caught on the ships sail, pushing it out of the Calm Belt and back into the storm, where Usopp rushed back into the cabin to grab hold of the rudder while the rest of the crew slumped onto the ship's deck, or along the cabin's walls in Menma's case.

"Oh thank god,,, We're back in the storm now…" Luffy breathed out.

"Now do you understand how dangerous the Calm belt is?" Menma asked as he pulled himself off the ground.

"I'm sorry Menma, we should have believed you." Nami apologized to the black-haired teen.

"Yeah, sorry." The other repeated, to which Menma just waved off, though they could not see.

"So we really have to climb up the mountain." Nami said.

"You still going on about that?" Zoro asked from his place against the mast.

"It must be due to the sea currents. If strong currents form all four seas were to head up that mountain, than they would drive the water up the waterway. And at the top the currents will merge and come out to the Grand Line. Since we're already riding the currents, thanks to Menma getting us back on course, all we have to worry about is steering properly." Nami explained.

"Reverse Mountain is a winter island, so any currents that hit the edge will cool and travel down so the bottom of the sea." Menma said, giving a little bit of info on the properties of Reverse Mountain, causing Nami's eyes to widen.

"So if we fail to enter the waterway, we'll crash and get dragged to the bottom of the sea."

"So basically, you're saying that it's a magic mountain, right?" Luffy asked, not understanding a single word that either Menma or Nami had said. 'Not even Naruto was this clueless as a child…' Menma thought as a sweat drop formed on the back of his head.

"*sigh* I shouldn't have expected you to understand…" Nami sighed.

"NAMI, YOU'RE AMAZING!" The ever love-struck Sanji proclaimed.

"I never heard of a ship going up a mountain before." Zoro said, voicing his skepticism.

"I've heard a bit." Sanji said to the Green-haired Swordsman.

"About the mountain?"

"No, but I've heard things about the Grand Line. Supposedly, half of the people die just trying to go in. Entering it is no easy task." Sanji said, recalling many of the stories he heard at the Baratie, as well as those that the Old Man told him.

"I see the Magic mountain!" The crew heard Luffy shout out. Turning to where their Captain was looking, each of their eyes widen in shock at the sheer size of the of the Mountain that stood before them, which made the Going Merry look like an ant in comparison.

"So that's the Red Line?" Menma asked out loud as he used his hand to cover his brow as he tried to see the top of the Mountain. "I can't even see the top thanks to the clouds."

"Get a good grip of the redder so we don't get dragged down under!" Luffy commanded, resulting in Sanji joining Usopp in controlling the rudder.

"Amazing." Nami breathed out.

"I can't believe it…" Zoro said as he peered through a pair of binoculars, "The Ocean is really going up a mountain…"

"I see the entrance to the waterway!" Menma called out as he pointed to a large canal that was surrounded by gates.

"We're veering off course! Turn a little to the right!" Luffy called out, having seen that the ship wasn't perfectly aligned with the canal.

"Right? You mean Starboard!" Menma called out to Usopp and Sanji, who began to move the rudder as best they could. Unfortunately, the rudder couldn't take the pressure, and snapped, causing Sanji and Usopp to be thrown about in the cabin, Luffy and Nami to cry out in shock, while Zoro sweat-dropped at Sanji and Usopp and Menma narrowed his eyes as he began to gather Chakra, preparing to try and move the water beneath the ship, despite it being useless.

"We're going to crash!" Nami called out as the ship drew closer to one of the gates. Thinking fast, Luffy jumped over board before drawing in a large breath.

"Gum-Gum BALLOON!" Luffy shouted as his body expanded in size, before being smashed between the ship and the gate. Thanks to Luffy's quick thinking the Going Merry avoided disaster as it bounced off Luffy and back on course up the waterway. Once the ship was past him, Luffy's body returned to normal as he began to fall towards the ocean.

"Grab ahold Captian!" Menma shouted as he stood atop the back railing, using Chakra to hold onto railing as he held out his hand towards Luffy. Seeing Menma's hand, Luffy stretched out his hand towards the ship, where he grabbed a hold of Menma's hand, before pulling himself back on the ship, unfortunately for Luffy though, his forward momentum sent him crashing head first into the floor of the deck. Once Luffy pulled his head out of the deck he gave his crew a grin, not only signaling that he was alright, but they had done it, they made it into the waterway. This resulted in Usopp and Sanji to throw their arms around each other's shoulders as they jumped for joy while the rest of the crew smiled and did their own victory stance.

"We did it!" Everyone shouted as their ship continued to travel up the canal, to the top of the mountain. Once at the top of the mountain, the Going Merry was launched slightly into the air, before coming back down on one of the five canals, and the only one that was moving down the mountain. As the ship made its way back down the mountain the crew all watched as their Captain held onto the Going Merry's figure head as he stared out towards the sea.

"OHHH! I can see the Grand Line up ahead!" Luffy called out smiling like crazy. "So this is the Grand Line, the greatest of all the sea's in the world! FULL SPEED AHEAD!" Luffy commanded, just as the Going Merry re-entered the cloud line. For a short while all seemed to be quiet, that is, until a loud bellowing broke the silence.

"Hm? Did you hear something just now?" Zoro asked.

"Ah don't worry about it. I'm wouldn't be surprised if that was just noise from the Wind. The terrain here is quite off after all." Nami said just before the same bellowing echoed throughout the canal.

"I don't know about that… I feel a large Chakra source a head." Menma said as he stared forward, his eyes giving off an odd glow. Once Menma spoke the same bellowing was heard again by the crew.

"What the…" Usopp said as he lowered on of his sniper googles to get a better look.

"Nami! There's a Mountain up a head!" Sanji shouted to the ships navigator.

"A mountain? That can't be! Once we pass the twin capes up a head, we should reach the open see." Nami said in disbelieve as she and the rest of the crew stared forward hoping to see this island, except for Menma, who actually closed his eyes and held out his hand.

'Chakra pulse.' Menma thought as a pulse of invisible chakra was sent out of his hand. The chakra was sent forward before hitting the "mountain" and returning to Menma, who opened his eyes in shock. "That's not a mountain! It's a whale!" Menma called out, causing everyone to look at him in shock, before turning back to the "Mountain" and discovering that their newest member was right, a giant whale was in fact blocking their path.

"What should we do?!"Usopp shouted in fear.

"Should we fight!?" Luffy asked.

"Are you kidding? How the heck are we supposed to fight something that big!?" Zoro asked Luffy.

"But it's blocking the path!" Menma said.

"We're to close to see anything! It looks like a giant wall! Where are its eyes?" Sanji asked.

"Wait! That's right; if it looks like a giant wall to us, imagine what we look like to it. Maybe it hasn't seen us yet." Nami said being a little optimistic.

"Well if we don't anything soon we're going crash! There's an opening to the left! Turn Portside!" Zoro shouted.

"But the rudder's broken!" Usopp shouted back.

"Well we've gotta do something! Menma come help us!" Zoro shouted. With a nod, Menma followed Zoro, Sanji and Usopp into the cabin.

"That's it! I've got a plan!" Luffy shouted as he went below deck.

"What is it Luffy?" Nami asked, confused as to Luffy's plan. All the while Usopp, Sanji, Zoro, and Menma tried their best to move the rudder, but to no avail.

"It's no good! The rudder won't budge!" Usopp shouted as the ship sailed closer to the whale. However, before the ship could crash, the front cannon went off which caused enough force to slow the ship.

'THE CANNON!?' Each member of the ship thought as the slowed to a stop, but not before the figure head of the ship was broken off from hitting the whale. Nami was forced to duck down as the figurehead sailed over her head.

"Oh God… I almost died just now…" Nami whispered to herself as the figure head landed on the deck, just as Luffy was returning from below deck.

"AH! MY SPECIAL SEAT!" Luffy shouted. For a few seconds the crew did nothing, hoping that the whale hadn't notice them.

"Now's our chance! Run for it!" Usopp shouted in fear.

"What's with this thing? Did it not even feel that cannonball just now!?" Menma asked as he and Zoro grabbed on oar while Usopp and Sanji grabbed the other and began to row.

"Maybe it's just really slow!" Sanji exclaimed.

"Who the hell cares! Let's just get outta here!" Zoro shouted. As the ship began to move around the whale, the whale finally felt the hit from the cannon, and released a howl, which had its effect on the crew.

"AGHHHHH, MY EARS!" Sanji and Usopp shouted.

"ROW! JUST ROW AS FAST AS YOU CAN!" Zoro commanded.

"WE NEED TO GET FAR AWAY FROM THIS THING, NOW!" Menma shouted. Together the four continue to row the ship past the whale, though it didn't seem to notice them yet, even as they passed under it's giant eye, but that would soon change. Stepping onto the forward deck near Nami, Luffy looked the whale straight in the eye with a heated glare.

"How dare you destroy…" Luffy said as he pulled back his arm, before launching it at the whale, hitting it in the eye, "MY SPECIAL SEAT!"

"THAT IDIOT!" Name, Usopp, Zoro, Sanji, and Menma shouted before the whales eye move to look straight at them. "IT SAW US!"

"Come at me, you bastard!" Luffy shouted at the whale, before Zoro and Usopp kicked him in the head, causing him to hit the deck. Unfortunately, their hopes of not provoking the whale were for not, as the whale opened up it's huge mouth, drawing in water as well as the ship, while at the same time, knocking Luffy off the ship, and heading straight to the water.

"AHH! I'm gonna fall! No I'm not going to die here!" Luffy shouted before stretching his arm all the way out of the whales mouth, and to the top of it's head, before pulling himself up just before the whale closed it mouth, as Luffy caught his breathe. "What do I do now? Everyone was swallowed up." Luffy said, before he started to punch the whale. "Hey you! Give back my friends! Cough them up!" He shouted before the whale began to move, but rather than giving back his friends, he started to dive under water. "Damn it! Planning on diving under the sea? WAIT!" Luffy shouted, hoping the whale would listen, but unfortunately the whale had no intention of waiting. "I said wait! Give me back my crewmates! We were just about to start our grand adventure with our new friend! THERE All MY IMPORTANT FRIENDS!" Luffy shouted at the whale, before noticing what looked like a trapdoor. With nothing else in sight, Luffy entered the trapdoor, in hoped of finding his friends.
