Kari Ketchum could not believe what she was reading… she was holding it, in her hand, an actual physical letter from the WWE…! No mistake about it, this was the truth...!

Dear Ms. Ketchum,

On behalf of the WWE scouting personnel, I would first hand formally like to congratulate you on getting recognition within our most elusive corporation. One of our talent scouts saw a performance of yours at an underground backyard wrestling show and was very impressed with your talent in our field. If you would like to proceed with interviews and a tryout, please do not hesitate to call our offices between the hours of 8 and 6 to schedule an appointment. We look forward to meeting you and hope that you too can become a member of our wrestling family.

Yours truly,

/s/ Kevin Dunn

"I don't… I just can't…." Kari's throat was dry, her eyes were shaking. She didn't understand yet she couldn't believe… this HAD to be a prank, somebody playing a joke on her. Kari swallowed and reached in her pocket, flipping open her cell phone. "I guess, there's only one way to know." She looked at the phone number at the bottom of the letter and dialed with one shaky finger and lifted the phone to her ear. "Time to find out..."

"WWE Stamford, office of Kevin Dunn." A secretary voice broke the ringing tone.

"Uh, hi." Kari was shocked that the number was actually legit. "I received a letter and was asked to call Kevin and…"

"Hold one moment please." The female voice cut her off and put her on hold.

"Wow." Kari blinked, that seemed easy… all to easy. She still wasn't convinced.

"This is Kevin." A man spoke up.

"Uh, hi, I received a letter and…"

"What's your name please miss?"

"Ketchum. Kari Ketchum."

"Kari…" She could hear Kevin typing in a computer. "Aha here we are Ms. Ketchum. Yes." He paused as he read what was on the screen. "Wonderful. Ah, coming all the way from California now... Are you interested?"

"Seriously?"

"Yes of course seriously."

"Well YEAH of course I am! This is my dream!"

"Excellent. So, when are you free?"

"How about next weekend!"

"Yes we have an opening for the 27th."

"Awesome, thank you, thanks so much!"

"You're very welcome mam, we look forward to meeting you."

"Me too!"

"Bye." He hung up and thought to himself with a sad concerned frown. "I only hope Ms. McMahon will be awake by then..."

Kari hung up, she couldn't believe it, she had talked to somebody in the WWE, and he gave her a tryout date next weekend! But just then she gasped, "What would daddy say…? I'd have to fly out there, alone!"

Dad was cracking up laughing, "You expect me to believe this?"

"But the letter is right here daddy, I just talked to Kevin Dunn on the phone, I have an appointment next Saturday in Connecticut! I thought it was a joke to, but it's real, I'm telling you the truth here!"

"Please, this is all so fake. You made this on the computer, I've seen your laptop. And you've been taking drama classes all through high school. This could be just your play experience."

"Dad this is not an act." Kari's eyes began to well up.

"Please you little drama queen, that's a nice touch. You know you have to go to college and become smart and earn a degree if you want to make any money and survive in this world. Your mom would've wanted you to become a scholar and you know that."

"Yeah..." Kari sighed. The mom had died giving birth to George, Kari was only a few years old and so neither child had any memories of her. Times were hard, and they had their grandma living with them now because she wanted to help out after the loss.

"Now I don't want to hear anymore word about all this...!"

"But daddy…!" Kari choked.

"No buts! Now go and help your brother with his homework like you promised. Now do you understand?"

"Yeah, whatever, fine." Kari sighed… but she hadn't given up like the facade she seemed to wear for her dad. She had more ideas. When your dreams come knocking, she had to answer and not leave an away sign hanging on the doorknob to leave a message and come back calling.

"What no way, are you serious? That's amazing!" Lea gasped as she jumped up from her chair.

"So you understand the bind that I'm in." Kari was on the phone with her.

"Well, I guess." Lea sighed.

"So please? I know your dad is a Lear Jet flyer. Can't he give me a lift next weekend? PLEASE?"

"I can't ask him, you know that he's in Las Vegas this weekend."

"I know, but please, you have to understand me here on this one."

Lea sighed, "Alright, but you owe me."

"What do you mean, this is payback from the time I let you use my notes for all that school you missed when you were sick in the hospital recovering from that surgery. I failed many tests and got in so much trouble. I went to visit you all the time when nobody else would! Not even Nance and Marie..."

"Alright, alright I'll do it." Lea smiled. "After all, that's what we friends are for."

"Thanks, I'm glad we're on the same page here." Kari smiled. "See you on Monday." She hung up. She smiled to herself, now for part two.

"So next weekend…?" Grandma blinked.

"Yup, I'm going over to Lea's house for a sleepover."

"I don't know…"

"Come on, you know how bad she is doing in school lately. She could use the help."

"Well you're not exactly an honors student neither." George pouted. "I got a C on my last test."

"Better than an F, and you're welcome. Come on, Marie and Nance might to too if their parents let them..."

"Alright fine, you can go. You young people need to have all the fun you can with your friends while you can, before it's too late."

"Thanks gGrandma." Kari smiled. "I knew I could count on you to understand." She ran off skipping happily.

George raised an eyebrow, "I still think something weird is going on with her."

Later that day, Kari went to the mall to find a nice outfit to wear, she had to make a good impression, no, the BEST impression if she wanted that dream job of hers.

"Hey, Kari!" A boy called.

"Huh?" Kari turned and set down the clothes. "Hi Muso."

A fellow senior classmate ran over, "How are you, glad to see you at the mall today."

"Yeah, funny running into you here too."

"So, I was wondering, are you busy next weekend…?"

"Huh?" Kari blinked.

"I'm having a pre-graduation party, and I'm asking all the seniors to come." Muso spoke quickly as he tried not to blush.

"Oh." Kari sighed. "I would really love to, honestly, but I already have plans made."

"Oh, that's alright. Maybe next time." Muso sighed.

"I'm sorry." Kari picked up the clothes.

"Those are pretty, they should look really nice on you."

"Thanks." Kari looked at her watch. "Uh oh I have to go, I'll see you at school!" She waved as she hurried to the register and pay for the items. It was getting late and she should go back home soon.

"Yeah, Mr. Ari's math class…" Muso frowned and walked away.

Meanwhile, back at the WWE…

"Stephanie…?" Linda asked as she opened the door to the dark bedroom. She walked in to see Stephanie still laying under the sheets of her bed. She sighed as she looked down at her daughter. Ever since that incident with Chris, she'd been so tired and bedridden with a fever, a fever of guilt, of sorrow, of pain, a fever… from the lie.

Chris was at the same bar again, his whole body stung with the pain, the pain physically, and the pain in his heart. The pain of betrayal, the pain of regret, the pain… from the lie. And he drank his troubles away, downing beer after beer until he could no longer walk. He sank against the wall, his shaggy long un-brushed hair falling over his shoulders and in front of his face. If that's what it took to forget it, then he'd do this every night, to forget it, forget it all, to forget… the lie.

Next time-
In the all new chapter... what happens at Kari's tryout, will she make it? And what will her dad thing once he finds out, the truth. Is Kari's dream of wrestling destined to die? And what of the drunk and angry Chris Jericho, what will become of Kari once she gets a chance to meet her alltime favorite superstar...?

A/N: Short chapter I know, I'm sorry. More WWE action will be coming up soon, I've just been very busy with work and all like I said. Just give me some time, just give it some time, I PROMISE you that this WILL get better.
