A/N: Holy cow guys, I finally got around to updating this. I've been super busy, school, the musical, and just life in general. I really am sorry that it took me this long to update.
A man popped through the trees. Ciel instantly recognized him as Richard Brunson's father. Nathaniel must have recognized him too because he curled into Ciel's chest. The man standing before them had a pistol in his hand and a crazed look in his eyes.
"Mr. Brunson, is there a reason you are here? I no longer work for you." Sebastian said calmly. The man stepped closer to the family. Ciel took a step to the side; moving closer to the road back to town and clutching Nathaniel closer to his chest. Nathaniel remained quiet; knowing that it was the best idea.
"I want you to bring my wife back this instance." The man said angrily; stomping his foot in the sand. Sebastian laughed slightly; like this was the funniest thing he had ever heard. Ciel moved closer to the road once more.
"You're wife explained to you the conditions of our contract. She explained that she would die after the contract was fulfilled. She knew the consequences of her actions. I cannot undo this. Ancient laws go into place when a human makes a contract with a demon." Sebastian explained. The man growled angrily.
"I don't care! I want her back. I want her back right this instance or else!" The man shouted; pointing his gun at Sebastian. Sebastian just stared at it coolly. That's when Ciel took off; bolting down the street at top speed; trying to put as much distance as physically possible between the gunman and his son. A shot rang out from behind him. Ciel flinched but continued running, ignoring the dull burning sensation in his chest. He could sense Nathaniel's distress for the father he had just met.
Ciel made his way back to the house and immediately bolted down to the cellar; locking the door behind them. Ciel set Nathaniel down and lit some candles so that they weren't sitting in total darkness. Ciel paced the room; making sure all of the windows were locked and that there was no way of getting in through the outside access door. Nathaniel just sat in a corner quietly playing with a seashell he had picked up at the beach.
"Are you okay?" Ciel asked his son; sitting down beside the boy. Nathaniel nodded slightly.
"Papa, what is happening? How do I have 2 papas? Why is that man attacking Papa?" Nathaniel asked. Ciel didn't know how to answer. He didn't know to explain to his son that both of his fathers were creatures from hell.
"It's hard to explain. It will become clearer when you're older." Ciel said. The two of them at in silence after that. Suddenly the outer cellar door was thrown open; the costal breeze blowing in and blowing out the candles making the room pitch black. Nathaniel made no noise and curled into Ciel's side. Ciel had no clue what was going on; he was so panicked that his mind had gone blank. The sound of someone coming down the stairs filled the small cellar. Ciel could sense someone down there with them. Then there was a loud yelp, and the presence was gone, and so was Nathaniel.
