Buffy was numb.
AN: Set at the beginning of season 6 of BtVS obviously. Quite an introspective look into Buffy's emotional state after being resurrected, no?
Jk. Though I did write those three words for that song, that's not the real chapter. Here it is:

"I don't know what any of you were expecting" the petite blond eyed the eclectic group of girls gathered before her "But let me enlighten you." She raised her voice slightly.
"This is not a vacation." she shook her head slightly "This is not some sappy movie, or a job you can just walk away from." For a moment, a brief chink appeared in her armor, but the moment flashed by so quickly none but the red-headed witch listening at the edge of the group noticed. The other girl said nothing however, and Buffy continued.
"This is more than a calling. This. Is. A. Life. Once you accept it, being a slayer is your whole life."
Her eyes hardened.
"Do not ever let your guard down." The surprisingly agile blond threw a stake towards the ceiling. "You either kill," she snatched the weapon out of the air "Or be killed." She emphasized the end of her sentence by slamming the blunt end of the stake into her palm.
Buffy looked each girl in the the eye.
"That is who we are."
She bowed her head a moment before lifting her fierce gaze.
"We are slayers"
AN: She's talking to the Slayer recruits, so this must be set during season 7. Actually, I hear in that in the season 8 comics (which I personally don't consider canon, but...) Buffy starts this Slayer academy. So maybe she's talking to an in-coming class of freshman. Idk.
