Chapter 2
Two weeks later Lilly found herself sitting outside the cafeteria at Seaview on the brick wall protecting the garden, silently working on her laptop with Self Conclusion by The Spill Canvas blasting through the headphones currently occupying her ears. She was in her own world waiting on Oliver. He usually meets her there about ten minutes after she gets there, since he actually eats lunch. But today he's going on fifteen and that usually means he's either going to show up apologizing profusely for being late, or she's going to get a text message from him asking her to meet him in the art room for a 'talk'. Oh those are always fun. Her phone decided at that time to go off which meant she was about to pack up everything and head to the art room. Lilly picked up her phone from the wall and looked at the message. Oh look, she was right. She closed her laptop and unplugged her headphones only to plug them into her iPod, as she started walking.
She reached the deserted art room about two minutes later, opening the door, only to find it still deserted. No Oliver in sight. Well where the hell was he? She looked around the seemingly empty room with a questioning look. Lilly pulled out her phone in order to text her friend and ask him where the hell he was, when someone tapped her on the shoulder. She jumped, yanking her headphones out, and turning around, only to find said friend standing there looking sheepish.
"What the hell Oliver!?" She screeched. "How many times do I have to tell you, do NOT sneak up behind me unless you want to get punched!"
"Sorry Lilly, I really didn't mean to scare you." He looked down, rubbing the back of his neck.
Lilly sighed. "It's fine. Just think before coming up to someone."
He nodded.
"So why did you bring me here? If this is about that Miley girl, then you can forget it because I'm not giving her a chance."
"Um, I hate to tell you Lilly, but I don't think you have a choice in that matter."
Lilly looked at him suspiciously. "Why do you say that?" She asked.
Oliver gave a small nervous chuckle. "Because she may or may not be texting me trying to figure out how to get to you."
Lilly's eyes went wide. "She's texting you. Why?" She asked, shocked.
"She just wants to talk to you Lil, and it's been clear that you won't do that, especially in school, which is the only place she sees you."
"If people see her talk to me, you know that won't go around well. I can't even let on that she's met me before. People pay attention to these things Oliver. You know this, especially when there's a new girl involved. I'm just trying to not ruin her chance at having a non-shitty senior year."
Oliver nodded. "I know this, and I've been trying to tell her that, but she's not listening Lil. She's stubborn."
Lilly huffed, turned and set her laptop on the nearest table. "I don't get it. Why is she so interested in me? It's not like I even gave a good first impression. Why me? Why can't she just take the hint? That I don't need another friend."
He shrugged. "I don't know. But look, I told her I would at least try and talk to you about meeting up with her sometime. I didn't say it would work. But I said I would just try. So here is me trying."
The skater raised her eyebrow. "Doesn't seem like trying to me."
"Oh right, Lilly will you at least meet up with her somewhere private and talk to her?"
"Nope."
The boy shrugged. "Ok, I tried. There you go."
Lilly shook her head, smirking. "You are so stupid Oliver."
"Hey, I told her I would try; I didn't tell her I would try that hard."
Lilly grinned, shaking her head. "And this is why I tolerate you."
Mock hurt took over his expression. "Oh, that hurts Lilly. Right here." He pointed to his chest, indicating his heart.
Lilly chuckled. "Oh shut up. Now come on. You need to eat lunch before you get so hungry you eat the first person you see. Let's hope it's Amber."
Oliver laughed. "We can only hope Lilly, we can only hope."
They walked back to the cafeteria. As Oliver went to get food, Lilly made her way back to the wall she was sitting on earlier outside. She stopped mid-step however, a few feet from the wall. There was someone sitting on it. Someone with long brown hair, and looked like an angel. Lilly knew she should be mad, but when a girl as beautiful as that, is just sitting there and hasn't even realized you're a few feet from them, you can't help but stare. She snapped out of it however, and traded her love sick expression for a glare.
"What are you doing here?" Lilly asked, walking up to the girl on the wall.
Said girl looked up suddenly, a mixture of surprise and relief on her face. "Looking for you, actually. I didn't know where to find you, so I just walked around. Found this place and just hoped you'd show up."
"I thought we went through this, Miley. I don't want to talk to you. I don't want you looking for me. I want to be left alone."
Miley looked at her skeptically. "Do you really?"
"Yes, yes I do."
Miley shrugged, jumping down from the wall. "Well too bad."
Lilly groaned. "Why are you so dead set on hanging out with me?!"
"I like you."
"You don't even know me."
Miley took a step toward her. "So? That doesn't mean I can't like you."
Lilly looked dumbfounded. Like really?! "Yes it does. Only someone who has something really wrong with them in their head can like someone without even knowing them. What does that say about you?"
"In all honesty, I don't really care. Call me crazy"
"You're crazy." Lilly interrupted.
Miley just looked at her, but continued. "I don't care. I was raised not to give a crap about what others think of me. I was raised to do what made me happy."
Lilly almost laughed. "Chasing me down makes you happy?"
"What can I say? There's just something about you Lil."
Lilly stayed silent, thinking.
"Come on Lil. Give the woman a chance." Both girls turned to see Oliver by the wall, eating his food and watching the scene unfold. The blonde walked over to him, pulling him to the side.
"Is this your doing?"
He shook his head, smirking. "Actually no. This is all on her. She's good. You gotta give her that."
He was right, though she would never admit it out loud. "Why should I give her a chance? We don't know each other. She's probably heard a lot of bad stuff about me. This whole thing just doesn't make any sense."
"That's exactly why right there. Because she's probably heard nothing but bad things about you, and she's still trying. Not to mention, think about it like this, she's most likely not going to stop til you agree to give it a chance."
Shit. She thought. He's right. The skater looked at Oliver, then turned to look at Miley, then back at Oliver. He had the biggest smirk on his face, because he had her and he knew what was coming. Lilly closed her eyes, sighed, and opened them again.
"Fine! You people win. I will give it a chance. But I swear to god," She turned and pointed to Miley. "If this goes down like I'm pretty damn sure it will. I will say I told you so!"
Miley smiled, and ran to what looked like hug Lilly, who stopped her with her hand on her chest. "Rule number 1. No hugging."
Miley nodded, still smiling.
"You might wanna start making notes of the rules. There's a lot of them." Oliver piped in to Miley.
Lilly rolled her eyes, And Miley just giggled.
Good lord. Lilly thought. This is gonna be a long year.
Sorry guys that it's taken me so long. And that it's short. I've been going through some stuff that has prevented me from writing anything. I know the chapter isn't the best, but I figured you guys deserved something. Thanks for the reviews, and keep em coming. The next chapter will be much much better, and hopefully longer.
