Massie and Ryan woke simultaneously, looking at each other in horror. The word was still ringing in their ears, and their breaths continued to come heavily, as if they really had been shrouded by the curtain of voices. They had always shared dreams before, but none such as this. Never were the dreams so realistic, so terrifying and repetitive. Ever since they had moved to the mansion, they had been having the same reoccurring dream. Night after night, the dream continued to fill the children with dismay, despite their knowledge that it was just that… a dream. However, the dream was so realistic to them, that they couldn't help but to feel that the dream had an element of reality. One night, the twins had actually vowed to stay up the entire night, sitting on the same carpet as in their nightmare, waiting to see if the dream would actually occur in the real world. It hadn't, which resulted in nothing more than the twin's mother getting cross with them.
Despite their "proof" that the dream wasn't real, and the things their mother continued to tell them to assure them that it wasn't, the children still had a place in their guts which believed, which is why they decided to invite their Uncle Ed to solve the problem. Edward Holloway was a renowned psychic, travelling all over the world, giving speeches, and supporting others of his kind. This profession was repulsive to the twins' mother, and they therefore decided that all psychic investigations be conducted completely behind her back.
A few days after the twins sent the letter which invited their uncle to their home, there was a knock at the door. It came at midnight, as mysterious things usually do, and everyone was asleep. Even if the knock had been louder, no one would have heard it, for the foyer was quite far from the bedrooms and servants' quarters. It was because of this that in the morning, the twins' mother found Edward Holloway on their front step.
