Touched By A Mamodo

Chapter 2: My Freedom

Reycom laid on the filthy floor as thoughts filtered in and out of his mind. He tried to ignore the dirty feeling that coursed throughout his very being every time he glanced at his bruised legs. He was wrong... he felt wrong and still, he wanted to run away, to find some way to get back home...

He had a chance to get out. He could've ran that night and possibly saved himself from that painful experience... but he didn't. Like he knew he would, he gave in to Hosokawa and let him have his way... he was just a tool, he recalled sadly as he curled tightly in an attempt to warm himself a little. He was just a tool for him to abuse and use until...

He stared at his spell book, slowly gathering dust as it remained untouched from his 'master'. Reaching out with small, shaking fingers and placing them on the edge of the book, he wished that he could burn the book away, let his pain finally stop... just go back to the Mamodo World. He didn't have family there, but... that was far better than the hell he was living in now.

Each night for the next few months seemed to be a repeat of the same abuse. Reycom's numbness grew as he finally learned to let it happen, to play his part and act as a tool. He was sure he'd been broken beyond repair.

Until one fateful night, when fate gave Reycom a chance that he couldn't refuse.

It seemed to be starting out the same way. Same form of abuse, same stuff, just another day. Reycom's small body was scarred by now, old raised ones mixed with with blood-covered newer ones. Bruises on his arms, legs, neck, back and a few small cuts on his face- Reycom knew that Hosokawa had an image to maintain and couldn't mar his face too much. It was easier to hide the other wounds, however.

Even with the pain he was feeling, he felt in his core that something was different about tonight. He didn't know what, but he felt... apprehension. Nervousness. Fear, but not from his tormentor's abuse.

He could be free. If he did this right, if he didn't back down from the fear that had long since overtaken his heart, he could finally be free... but if he failed, it would cost him his life...

'No. Dead or not...I have to try.'

It was now or never, he told himself as he braced for Hosokowa to wander in, drunk as always. He glared at the man, making sure he didn't forget a single detail- not like that would happen with all they'd been through. But he still needed this in his memory.

If he could get someone to stop him... he'd protect both the mortal and mamodo children. That was important.

Hosokawa had raped Reycom, which was the usual, as sad as that was. He didn't put up a fight and that may of pissed Hosokawa off, he didn't know, but he was being more aggressive than normal, trying his best to force a scream from the child. When that didn't work, Hosokawa simply tossed him aside and stormed out of the room. Reycom noted almost instantly that in his sexual frustration, he's forgotten to lock Reycom's ankles in his shackles. Reycom blinked at first, eyes wide as he realized he could move... he was free... before pain quickly set in. He clamped his hand over his mouth and willed his body to listen to him, just enough to get him through his plan

Now free from the shackles, Reycom struggled to stand and looked at the door. His smile could've lit up a room.

The door was wide open. Unlocked and wide open. Now was his chance!

Moving as quickly and quietly as he could manage, the blue haired mamodo checked for any sounds or sight of his tormentor. As soon as he heard Hosokawa snoring away downstairs, Reycom took his spell book and ran towards the bedroom.

The minute he got into the bottle-littered room, he froze, held his breath and waited. No one came. He didn't know how much time he had left, but he knew he had to hurry.

'Okay...weapon...gotta be around here somewhere...'

Reycom quickly scanned the room, and to his surprise, spotted a wooden weapon in a corner. A bat. Reycom's expression changed into one of relief as he wrapped his fingers around the item. As he adjusted the book in one hand and the bat in the other, he froze.

Hosokawa had apprently woken up and upon seeing the cell empty, had checked the house. The room was actually the last place he expected to see him there.

"Now...w-where do...think YOU'RE goin'?" he slurred, using his body weight to force Reycom backwards in the room. Reycom could smell the booze on his breath and he backed up half a step, gripping the bat tightly in one hand, his spell book in the other. He wasn't muttering a word, nor was he wavering his gaze.

"Give me that...and I won't be too harsh...maybe..." he laughed, trying to grab the bat. Reycom moved back, still keeping his eyes locked on him. Hosokawa didn't seem to be appreciating the fact the small creature was disobeying him, and lunged forward, intent on grabbing his book and burning it.

All of a sudden, Reycom didn't want to die anymore. He did't want to just lay down and accept the fact that he was a dirty tool that was used for a mortal human's selfish and disgusting desire.

He was a mamodo! And dammit, he was going to fight or die trying!

With a powerful swing, Reycom swung the bat as hard as he could into the side of Hosokawa's leg. Hosokawa went down, gripping his legs, and Reycom dropped the bat, ran down the stairs, burst out the front door...and ran.

Reycom couldn't believe it. He could feel actual air on his face, hear the pitter patter of the actual ground below him. He... was honestly free.

Somehow, he had made it.

Reycom was free.

'I gotta run...just...gotta...run...'

He grew petrified that Hosokawa would hunt him down, drag him back to that hellhole, or even burn his book. But as Reycom continued running, as the exhaustion finally caught up to him, Reycom smiled.

He was finally free.

He didn't have to hurt anymore. It was over.

Eventually, Reycom stumbled upon someone's home. It was lit, the only one on the block, and he thought someone could help him. By now, he was so disoriented that he didn't know where he had ran to, how far he had ran, or whether or not Hosokawa knew where he was. And he didn't care about any of it.

As he collapsed on the front porch, one sharp thought came forward: 'What if...if they're like him...they might hurt me too...'

Reycom felt his vision dimming fast. He weakly knocked on the door, and everything else after that was a blur to him. As his body finally gave in on him and he pitched forward, a pair of warm hands caught him and said something but the voice was so muffled he didn't catch it.

He felt his mouth moving, saying, "H-Help..." but by then he'd blacked out. He had no clue who saved him... but he hoped he was truly safe.
