Hermione woke early the next morning to the sound of heavy rain hitting her window. Great , thought Hermione. Hermione and Ginny had planned to go into Hogsmead today, looks that plans just been ruined. Hermione decided to go down to breakfast early and was suprised to see she wasnt the only who had been awoken by the rain, Luna was sat at her table alone reading a magazine which from what Hermione could see was upside down. " Hi Luna" Said Hermione, before sitting down next to her.
"Hi hermione , what brings you down here so early?" Replied Luna in her usual airy voice.
"The rain woke me up" said Hermione, buttering her toast lazily. Just as she said that she caught a flash of red in the corner of her eye. Ginny. She looked up, maybe a little too fast because she caught a glimpse the questioning look spread accross Luna's face. 'Hey gin!' beamed Hermione. Why was she so happy? It was only Ginny, she saw her everyday.
" Hey herm, hi Luna" replied Ginny while sitting next to Hermione, slightly brushing Hermiones arm as she did. " I saw your bed was empty and you wernt in the common room so i assumed you'd come down to breakfast early , i was wondering since we arent going to be going to Hogsmead maybe we can spend the day together around the grounds?" Hermione felt a blush growing from her neck and butterflys in her stomach, why was this happening? She'd spent the day with Ginny before, why was this so different?
" um, y-yeah sure" stuttered Hermione.
"Great" Beamed Ginny " I'm going to get in a bit of early morning flying while the grounds are empty" Ginny stood up from the table , " I'll meet you in the common room at around 9am?" Hermione just smiled and nodded which Ginny smiled back at. Hermione watched as Ginny walked away, she watched the way she hooked her thumbs into the front pockets of her jeans and how her red hair swayed behind her everytime she took a step. Suddenly aware that she was smiling , Hermione straightend herself and focused on her toast. She could see that Luna was staring at her through the corner of her eye and looked up, "what?" Asked Hermione in a quizzical tone.
"Its nothing really, its just, the way you look at Ginny, its quite sweet really" Replied Luna, grinning slightly as she said it.
"w-what do you mean?" inquired Hermione, suddenly feeling very awkward.
" Oh nothing , it doesnt matter " Said Luna, still slightly grinning. Hermione gave Luna a bewildered look before standing up and starting towards the doors that lead to the Gryiffindor common room. What did Luna mean? She looked at Ginny the same way Luna did, didnt she?
