Dark Hearts (On Hold)

Akane Ito has been with Ichigo since the beginning of their adventure; can she save him from himself? Or will they both fall victim to the will of their dark hearts? 12/21: Thank you for reading my story, I haven't been able to update due to being in school. But I don't know for sure when I'll update again. But the story is NOT abandoned.

2. Flashback

Akane Ito has lived next to the Kurosaki residence since Ichigo's mother passed away; she witnessed the true death of his mother. Since that day, she has vowed to protect him with her life; no matter the cost. When Rukia shows up, powers within both Akane and Ichigo start to arise.

Flashback (3rd POV)

There she sat in the rain, waiting to drown in her own sorrows that could never be erased;

Mommy where are you?

Little did the young child know, her mother was never going to come back, she looks to her left and sees a young boy walking with his mother. She looks away and sight feeling the raindrops roll down her face; all of a sudden it stops; she looks up and sees the same young boy holding an umbrella over her head,

"Hey, why are you sitting here? You're getting all wet, silly."

She doesn't say a word, just stares at the boy speechless; he holds out a hand,

"I'm Ichigo. What's your name?"

She looks at the hand and states,

"I'm Akane ito."

Ichigo smiles a wide smile,

"Will you be my friend?"

Akane is shocked, she has never been asked to be a friend to anyone;

why is he being nice to me?

Mustering as much courage as possible she takes his hand and smiles at him,

"Yes."

Ichigo pulls Akane up and runs over to his mother,

"Momma, this is Akane; and she's my friend."

Akane feels the scrutiny from the mother;

"hello young one, what are you doing in the rain?"

Akane looks away,

"Mommy said that she would be right back, but that was a while ago."

Masaki smiles softly at the girl,

"would you like to live with my family?"

Akane looked doe eyed at Misaki and looked toward Ichigo and he smiled, Akane nodded

Akane POV

I've been living with the Kurosaki's for 2 weeks now, Isshin has grown to accept me in his household even involving me in his daily "defense" lessons. Yuzu and Karin were faster to accept me, they became my baby ducks following me around everywhere. Yet, on that day is when everything changed. I saw a monster take away Ichigo's mommy. When Ichigo cried for his mommy, I vowed that I would protect him forever; even with my body.
