Parker Residence:
Peters room was a mess. Old cupped ramen filled the room. Punch holes in his wall covered the room. Peter's angst ridden fits have plagued him since the Battle of New-York. Peters old Captain America poster was starting to peel down. The room hadn't seen light in weeks. Pete heard the footsteps coming and he knew it was time to get up. Looking up at the ceiling is what he called sleep. Sometimes he would fall asleep. The nightmares plagued him. 'Peter, time to wake up'. Aunt May said gently opening the door. After showering and eating Peter left. In almost an instant Peter had his costume on swinging from houses and then to buildings. Peter felt a small excitement. Something he hadn't felt in awhile. Not being in contact with his friends, Harry and Mary Jane made things boring. Ignoring their calls and texts was easy but he couldn't ignore them if they were right in front of him. The morning was relatively quiet, no robberies.
Oh wait never mind.
A police chase made its way to him. Spider-Man leaped from a building and made his descent toward the speeding Toyota the criminal was in. Spider Man instantly recognized the man inside. BOOF. The web crawler landed on the hood of the car.
'Markooo!' Spider-Man shouted.
'Aw man, why do ya gotta always mess up my scores.' The man inside pointed a gun taking his eyes off the road.
'Come on, Flint' the man fired once. Spider Man jumped and landed on the roof.
'You're supposed to say Polo, ya dummy' Spider-Man remarked.
He had to end this quick he thought. Spider-Man used his superhuman strength to punched through the car's side window and pulled the crook out. THWIP. He spun a web and threw Flint into it leaving him tangled for the cops. He managed to stop the car by shooting webs into the the wheels jamming it.
Damn it, I'm nearly late.
Racing through the city Peter got to Midtown Science with 5 minutes to spare. He changed in a nearby alley way and shoved his costume in his bag. He wore black skinny jeans and a light blue long sleeved shirt with his worn down black classic vans. Looking in the bathroom he really saw the change in his body from when he didn't have powers. He had grown at least 2 inches and was a lot more muscular and lean. He used to wear glasses but those were now replaced with bags under his eyes. His messy bed hair remained the same. He made his way to the school building. New faces and old littered the entrance. An old feeling of emptiness filled him when seeing Mary Jane talking to her friends, Liz Allen and Sally Avril.
The girl next door.
He'd always had a huge crush on her since they were kids. Looking at Mary Jane's bright green eyes combined with her bright red hair made her extremely striking but easy on the eyes. It reminded him of how much he missed her. He could hear her smooth voice from where he was standing. Peter and her have always been friends since both the aunts introduced them during grade school. As time passed she started hanging with the popular kids more. He didn't blame her. She took the time to be friends with Puny Parker when it felt like the world hated him. Mary Jane's eyes met Peters. She walked with an angry swagger. Mary's green eyes looked red. Tears balled down. She hugged Peter.
'You fucking asshole!' she said with her head on his check. She smelt like strawberries.
'Peter, where have you been?' she said pleadingly.
'I only got home a few days ago.' He didn't know what to do. He looked around and saw Liz and Sally staring at them confused.
'Harry left the school.'
'Why? He didn't say anything.'
'You should answer a call once in awhile.'
'MJ…' Peter began but was quickly cut off.
'I'll talk to you at lunch.' She walked away with her two friends.
Peter headed to his first class which was English. He was already late. Opening the door Peter noticed the teacher introducing a new student. It was Gwen. She looked at him with a smile.
'Glad you've finally decided to join the class.' Miss Watanabe gave him a glare as he made his way to the back of the classroom. The class felt long as the teacher went on about George Orwell. He caught the glance of his childhood friend, Gwen Stacy. She quickly looked to the front of the classroom. He couldn't help but notice how much she'd changed from the tomboy she used to be. Peter and her used to wrestle in Aunt Mays garden. Gwen was almost always the winner in those fights. She wore a black turtle neck and light denim jeans. If there was a girl to rival the hold that MJ had on Peter it was her. The rest of class flew by as he closed his book and packed his bag the second bell rang. As his body went into autopilot traveling from class to class.
The ringing of the bells couldn't be more relieving. As he left History he found MJ waiting for him. 'Hey, Pete… I'm sorry about earlier.' It was the first time Peter saw MJ vulnerable. 'It's okay I was kinda an ass.' The two laughed as they headed to the cafeteria. Peter followed MJ through the halls to get to the cafeteria. She was joined by Liz and Sally who didn't look to keen on Peter sitting with them. 'Where are the Neanderthals?' Peter said sitting down. The girls let out a laugh. 'They should be here soon' she said. She was right. The stereotypical group of jocks came walking. Flash Thompson, the high school bully. The man who has made Peter's life hell since the third grade. Behind him were his cronies most notably Kong the Asian behemoth. He towered Flash and was a combination of muscle and fat. Things have changed now. Peter could easily take out the whole football team in a few seconds. 'Hey, Parker' Flash had said standing ahead of him. 'I'm sorry about your uncle' he said to Peters bewilderment. Everyone at the table was surprised. 'Um thanks, man' Peter said. The group of football players sat at the table and discussed the upcoming football season. Peter noticed Flash putting his arm around MJ which made him cringe.
I guess they must've started dating during my little absence.
MJ watched Peter leave the table with out a glance from anyone else. She only started dating Flash a day ago. She was planning on telling Peter but seeing him the way he was she couldn't bring herself to do it. He's changed so much in the last few weeks. She knew him since kindergarten and he'd always been neat and nerdy. He was short for his age too but he shot up a few inches and his bad posture had entirely disappeared. He always had a handsome face to her but even his jaw was more defined. Mary Jane's feelings for Peter had always been more than platonic but she could never bring herself to admit it to herself or him. She watched him walk over to join a blonde girl on the table opposite. She felt her heart ache at the way she smiled at him as he sat down. MJ recognized her from pictures in Peters family album.
Peter left the table to find Gwen sitting alone and she gestured to sit next to him. Her smile made him forget the pain of seeing Mary Jane with his long term tormenter.
'How do you like Midtown Science?' he said to her.
'I thought it would be nerdier.' she laughed.
'If you judged the school based off me then boy are you gonna be upset'
'That would imply that I wouldn't be upset anyway' Peter held his chest jokingly.
'Here I was thinking you'd be excited to be reunited with you good ol buddy Pete.'
'I didn't say I wasn't.' Gwen looked straight into Peters eyes this time.
Peter had pretty hazel eyes. That was the first thing she noticed when she saw a bloodied Peter walk into Aunt Mays house. It had been probably 3 years since she last saw him. Puberty treated him well she thought. She knew him as the nerdy book worm but he was different now. His neatened hair was now replaced with a curly mop on his head. Under his eyes were bags. She saw through his façade of jokes and charming smile that he was not handling his Uncles death well. Moving to New-York scared her but she saw comfort in the boy in front of her. The city was swarming with bad men and that Spider guy didn't make her feel any better. She didn't feel comfortable with her dad working in that environment. Peter and Gwen bickered more about how stupid the jocks were for the rest of lunch.
DRINNGGGGGG. Peter couldn't be more excited to leave campus as he changed into his skin tight red and blue costume and put on his web shooters built from old watches. I need some excitement. He swung across buildings doing flips effortlessly. The streets of Manhattan were busy. He landed in a crouching position on the edge of the building.
Come on New-York, give me something good.
As if his wish was heard a man flew passed him. He wore a black and green suit with large mechanical wings on his back. He was bald and had a long pointy nose. He had a suit case in his hands. Both were marked OSCORP. Peter could hear the sirens of cop cars coming from behind him which was all the confirmation he needed that this was no good guy. Spider-Man shot a web at the flying man which pulled him off the building. In an instant he shot a web at the building to stop the man from flying away with what ever he had stolen. 'Look pa I caught me a big one!' Spider-Man shouted out. The man changed direction and tackled Spider-Man knocking the air out of him as he fell in the middle of the street. He noticed the man dropped the case that he was carrying and webbed it to a nearby wall. He started web slinging and chased after the Vulture.
'Look man, I admire anyone who dresses up as their favorite animal but I can't let you steal whatever you got.' Spider-Man threatened. The bald man stayed quiet and flew up and descended again like an eagle going for its kill. Spider-Man was ready this time and flipped over him. He shot a line of web at the top of his wings and pulled himself towards it.
'Hey I tried playing nice but-' Spider-Man was interrupted as the Vulture did a 180 and Spider-Man nearly fell off the mans back. Thanks to Spider-Mans adhesive touch he managed to stay on.
'You're playing with shit you don't understand.' This was the first time he spoke. His voice was raspy like he smoked a pack of cigarettes a day.
'You know this thing looks pretty important.' Spider-Man quipped as he punched a hold into the little box that seemed to be powering his mechanical wings. He was correct as the greens lights on the wing shut off causing them to both fall. 'Don't worry Bigbird, I gotcha.' Spider-Man swung the man onto the streets leaving him for police. 'You just made a lot of powerful men angry, kid.' The bald man stared at him with venom. 'Whatever you say, buddy' Spider-Man said as he swung away back to the building.
Back at Queens:
After several hours of figuring out the 6-digit code of case he finally got it open by getting the right sequences through his computer. Inside were various physical files highlighted 'The Goblin Project'.
Peter saw pictures of the suit the Green Goblin wore except yellow. For a split second Peter was brought back to the fight with the Green Goblin. All he could hear was that horrible laugh. Peter was brought back to reality now. He read through the page again to find that Wilson Fisk had a special deal to buy dozens of the same suit. What made it more odd was that it was bought by him alone not ALCHEMAX. The rest of the folder was filled with receipts from ROXXON and STRUCKER Industries. Then there were designs on other weoponised suits like the one with a long tail which looked like it was supposed to resemble a scorpion. Whatever these files were he had to get it to someone who could legally do something about it. The first person that came to mind was Captain George Stacy and that's where he went.
