Reaching their destination, Remy stopped her with his arm.
"Wait. You'll set off de alarms, wake everyone up, and den get used for target practice. Hide under dat pile of wood near the fence. Remy'll go turn off de traps and alarms, den come back and get you." the boy, Remy, said. Lyric nodded. Remy turned that idiotic grin on her again, before turning away and skillfully creeping around the front yard of the property, ducking when a surveillance camera turned in his direction, then stalking back towards the front porch.
Ducking inside, Lyric heard what sounded like a machine shutting down, and saw the lights and lasers flicker and die, and the cameras' blinking light shut off, and the antennas being retracted, signaling that the security systems had been shut down. She saw a dark form- presumably Remy's – emerge from the door, and wave her over. Lyric ran over to him, barely able to stop herself from sliding into the step and injuring herself.
"C'mon in, petite. I'll show you to my room." At her shocked expression, he groaned.
"Merde! You got a dirty mind fer a fille! You gonna fit in good here, petit! What Remy meant was you can stay with him until we get it figured out were you is gonna stay while you is here."
"Alright."
"You can take the bed. You need it more than Remy does, petite." He said. Taking in her muddy appearance, Remy added, "But first we get you cleaned up an' dried off, oui?"
Lyric nodded before being lead to Remy's bedroom, where he shoved some clothes into her arms.
"Take dese. You can use dem after you get out of the bath. Remy don' mind. Dey don' fit him no more, anyway. But dey look like dey'd fit you, petite."
"Thanks, Remy."
"Don' mention it, petite. Now go get yerself clean an' decent. Hurry! Before Tante Mercy or heaven forbid, Tante Mattie hear us an'come up wid der wood spoons! Tomorrow, we see da leader, mon pere, to see if you is allowed to stay wid us!"
Lyric nodded once again and followed Remy to the bathroom, where he tossed her a long towel, closing the door and locking it behind her.
Lyric walked over to the bathtub and shed her clothes. She turned on the water and adjusted it to the right temperature. Slipping in, she sighed as the day rolled gently off her skin, along with the day. However, unlike at home, she didn't linger more than a few moments, for fear of getting discovered in a stranger's bath. She stepped out of the water and hastily dried and dressed in the clothes that Remy had given her.
Funny, she thought, I only just met this boy today, and already I feel as if I could trust him with my life.
Quietly, she tiptoed out the door of the bathroom and down the hall towards Remy's bedroom. When she pushed the door open, he was sitting on his bed. Upon hearing her enter, his head snapped up.
A/N: Cliff hanger! Want the next Chapter? Well then, someone will have to review! Lol, not really. I'm not that mean, but honestly, reviews make me feel loved, and the more loved I feel, the faster I write and update. Peace and Love,
