The day that Koyner fell was an unusually cloudy, and strangely quiet day, and evening. The wind was dead, the sky overcast, and as the last rays of sunlight faded, a small figure fell to the ground, from the sky.
Just as she hit the ground, whoops and yells filled a cave over at Hudson's Bluff. And a male, with a large white dog stepped out of a nice-looking house, and, with a glance at his wristwatch, walked off. Only to snap his head up and look at the dog, whom had started sniffing the air, growling slightly.
"I don't have time for this…" The man mumbled, before rubbing the bridge of his nose.
"David. There's a strange scent in the air. It… burns, almost…" Dwayne muttered slightly.
"Whaddya mean, burns? The weird scent that I smell… It's almost like salt. Not like the ocean, but like… tears. I smell it everywhere." Marco frowned slightly, wrinkling his nose.
"You guys aren't the only ones smelling freaky things. I smell… carrots, like, from a stew of some sort. If I were human, it'd smell fucking amazing." Paul shrugged, lighting a joint and taking a puff. "Hell, it's stronger than my dope!"
Dwayne turned to David, whom had been silent the entire time.
"What do you smell, David?" He asked the platinum blonde vampire. Paul took another puff at his joint, turning to look at Marco as well.
David locked eyes with the three other boys.
"I smell… I don't smell anything other than Paul's weed. But I can sense something. It seems to be blanketing the entire town. It's… A presence. And it seems to give off a powerful feeling of… of betrayal…"
"Boys." A older man's voice spoke.
"Max. What're you doing here?" David asked, gesturing around the cave, raising a questioning eyebrow.
"Something's in this town. Something else… Like us. But not of our kind. Find them." Max's voice hardened.
"Thorn will accompany you. He knows how to track this being. Find the being and bring them to me."
With some grumbling, the four boys agreed.
And in a field nearby to the boardwalk, a ten year-old girl awoke, her body sore. She stood up, and dusted off her orange dress.
Where was she?
She didn't know. But, upon seeing a Ferris wheel in the distance, she smiled innocently. Her pain forgotten, she began skipping in that direction. She fully intended on finding out where she was.
As she skipped off, it started raining.
The sky was crying.
Crying for the fallen child.
Heaven wept for a child whom had fallen from its loving embrace.
Child, come home…
Please, come home child…
Please…
But she couldn't.
For her wings were gone.
Poor Koyner could no longer fly through the sky.
Oh poor, poor child. Such a precious thing, too. Please, come home soon. It's bad out there. We miss you, sweet, little Untainted One. Come home… Things could go terribly wrong for you down there, little one. You may yet... become...
Tainted.
