Hermione stayed behind Harry, pointing her wand out, doing exacting what Harry was doing. Harry had one hand behind himself to protect Hermione, holding her hand with his wand out in his other hand.
The rustling outside continued with quiet voices that sounded like a girl's and a boy's. The man sounded older than the girl. "Bellatrix and Voldemort?" Harry thought to himself. Harry stepped cautiously outside of the tent, gripping his wand, thinking of what spell to use if it was them. Harry felt Hermione's warm breath on the back of his neck. Just then a young blond girl who was about their age and who seemed to be with her father stepped out of the bushes.
"We are never going to find the Blibbering Humdinger if we keep going in circles, daddy." Luna Lovegood, a friend of Hermione, Ron, and Harry's, stepped gently into the grass. Her father, Xenophilius, came out seconds later. Harry felt Hermione's breath get stronger for a second against his neck as she sighed in relief.
Luna's hair was long past her shoulders and her clothing choices were kind of off. She wore a corkscrew necklace and her earrings were plastic turnips. With a quick glance of Luna then to Luna's father you might think that they were the same person. He was taller than her but they had the same length of bleach blond hair. They were definitely related. Hermione let go of Harry's hand and pushed past him, running towards Luna.
"Luna, I can't believe you are here! Are you okay? Are you hurt?" Hermione obviously was worried but didn't know how to seem calm.
"Hermione, this is my father, editor of The Quibbler magazine. We are trying to find a Blibber-" Her voice was so calm and dreamy.
"Luna, thank God you're okay!" Hermione turned her head slightly to Luna's father and he gave a slight nod.
"Of course you've heard about the tragedy at Hogwarts, dear?" His voice sounded distant and upset.
"Yes sir, that is kind of why we are here. We are kind of trying to-" Hermione was interrupted abruptly.
"No more of this negativity. Come on Luna, dear, we've got a Humdinger to find." Xenophilius took Luna by her arm but she pulled back.
"Daddy, Hermione is concerned for our well being. She obviously has a plan and you said we can help if there is help needed. After all, Professor Dumbledore was our Headmaster.
I want to honor his memory. " Luna looked at Hermione in a hopeful manner as if hoping that she actually had a plan.
"Um...yes...of course I- we have a plan. Harry come out, please. Luna wants to help." Hermione's voice was gentle and sudden.
Harry came out of the dark and smiled kindly, his scar hurt more than ever.
"Hello Luna. How are you?" Harry's breath was cold, mostly because he was very cold.
"Harry Potter this is my father. He is the editor of The Quibbler." She turned to her father and he looked wide eyed at Harry.
Xenophilius walked forward to examine Harry closer.
"Harry Potter, is it really...the real Harry Potter?" His arm began to stretch out toward Harry's forehead and Harry didn't pull away he just wiped his hair away from his forehead to show his scar. Xenophilius gasped in a polite manner, trying to contain himself.
"Yes sir, I am Harry Potter." Harry was used to this kind of behavior but he had never encountered a "fan" such as Xenophilius. Harry smiled weakly and allowed him to examine his face.
"Father, it is very rude to stare." Luna complained to her father. Luna loves her father, especially after everything happened they are the only ones left. Luna's mother had died and Luna was obviously still upset about it.
"R-right," He whispered quickly with a weak smile. He looked sharply away from Harry and peered carefully at the morning's weak and dull dawn sky.
"Luna, we must certainly be on our way, darling. If we leave soon we could have a better chance of catching sight of a Horn Nosed Wagner." His voice folded over with exhaustion and doubt.
"Oh, Mr. Lovegood, please let Luna come with us. We honestly no company and I-",Hermione paused to look back at Harry as he nodded, "We would love someone here with us."
