I don't own Naruto
Chapter 2
Seven years had passed since the treaty between Suna and Konoha had been signed. The contents of said treaty had remained secret because it was never released to the public. Today was the day of team placement for Naruto's class. Naruto had graduated at the top of his class as the rookie of the year, but he was closely followed by Sasuke Uchiha. They were rivals and no one could compare to them.
Naruto trained with his father and was very adept at what he learned. Minato decide to not teach Naruto the rasengan or the hiraishin until he reached genin rank. He was also unsure if Naruto could learn the completed version he made from combining the rasengan with his water affinity. Naruto was very advanced for his age though. He had mastered the transformation, substitution, and the shadow clone jutsu to an extent that most chunin didn't reach. Naruto was able to pull them off without handseals. Naruto could break genjutsu easily, but made no attempt to try to learn genjutsu. His taijutsu was strong because his stamina was off the charts, his speed was mid to high chunin, and he was a master of the taijutsu style that his father used.
Sasuke mostly trained with his brother Itachi, but he occassionaly got training from his father. Sasuke has mastered the academy three jutsu, but unlike Naruto he couldn't do the jutsu without handseals but he was able to use one-handed handseals. Sasuke also knew a couple fire jutsu that only experienced genin would be able to use. Sasuke's taijutsu was also good too. His speed was mid to high genin and he mastered the same taijutsu style that Itachi used. Sasuke had also awakened his Sharingan, but it wasn't fully matured.
Today was a normal day in class, other than the fact they were being placed in their genin teams. The fangirls were drooling over the top two students of the class. The males were either relaxing or talking to their friends, who were seated around them.
Iruka then entered the class, followed by Mizuki. The two smiled brightly at their graduating class. The two were proud because this was the biggest graduating class ever.
"It's time to announce the teams." Mizuki said
They went through teams 1 through 6.
"Team 7 will be Naruto Namikaze, Sasuke Uchiha, and Temari." Iruka
"Who is that sensei?" Sasuke asked
"Temari-chan is the Kazekage's daughter." Naruto answered
"She is part of a special program that switches one of our older kunoichi with theirs." Iruka explained
"Team 8 will be Kiba Inuzuka, Shino Aburame, and Hinata Hyuga." Mizuki continued for Iruka.
"Team 9 is the team that lost a kunoichi to Suna, so Sakura Haruno will join the team of Rock Lee and Neji Hyuga." Iruka said
"Who are they sensei?" Sakura asked. She was a little upset that she wasn't on a team with Naruto and Sasuke.
"Neji is the rookie of the year of last year's class and Lee was the dead last of last year's class. I'm not sure how they have grown since graduating, but they are still a team after a year of being shinobi, so that says a lot." Iruka finished
"Team 10 will be the formation of the second generation inoshikacho." Mizuki said with a smirk
"Why does a Suan kunoichi get to be on a team with Sasuke-kun and Naruto-kun?" Ino asked while she got many verbal agreements from the other fangirls.
"Sasuke and Naruto have the best scores here, while Temari was the rookie of the year for her class. Being the three best between our two academies then they are placed together. If your grades were better than hers then you would have had a chance top be on Sasuke's team" Mizuki said
"That's unfair." Ino pouted
"The life of a ninja is unfair." Iruka said
"Class dismissed for lunch. Return afterwards to meet with your sensei." Mizuki said
"Want to get some ramen Sasuke?" Naruto offered
"Yeah, let's go." Sasuke replied with a smile.
Later after a good lunch, the class returned to the room to wait on their sensei.
"I wonder where Temari-chan is?" Naruto wondered.
"How do you know her Naruto?" Sasuke asked
"Dad and the Kazekage are good friends, so when the kazekage comes to Konoha he brought Temari with him. After the business, they would come back to my house for a bite to eat and some conversation." Naruto said
After filling in the room, the graduates noticed a room full of shinobi waiting for them. They started calling out their teams to follow them.
"Team 7 with me." A male jounin said as he motioned for the two boys to come to him.
"Hey sensei." Naruto and Sasuke said in unison.
"Hey. Temari is waiting for us, let's go." He said as he lead them through the crowd of graduates and towards their destination.
"Hey Temari-chan." Naruto said as he sat down in front of Temari
"Hey Naruto-kun." Temari said.
"How about we start with introductions. Names, likes, dislikes, hobbies and dreams for the future. That sort of thing." The jounin said lazily as he sat down.
"My names Naruto Namikaze. My likes are my ramen. My dilikes are scum and those lower than scum. My hobbies are training with dad. My dream is to be a jounin sensei." Naruto said which earned him a smile from Temari, who didn't know he still wanted that.
"My name is Sasuke Uchiha. My likes are pocky. My dislikes are people who don't work hard for what they want. My hobbies are training and playing shogi with Itachi. My dream is to be hokage" Sasuke said. Naruto liked that idea and truly believed his best friend could do it one day.
"My name is Temari. My likes are dango. I dislike sexism. My hobbies are training my wind affinity and learning fuinjutsu. My dream is to be known for my prowess with wind jutsu." Temari said
"My name is Asuma Sarutobi. My likes are Kurenai-chan. My dislikes are those who endanger the king. My hobbies are shogi, go, and hanging around my friends. I don't really have a dream." Asuma said to his students.
"So what are we going to do first sensei?" Naruto asked
"We are going to work on your teamwork through training first, while doing D ranked missions. When I deem your teamwork good enough, we'll go on a C ranked mission." Asuma said simply. Naruto and Sasuke understood the mission ranking somewhat to know that D ranks were missions usually done in the village for inexperienced genin. C ranks were missions that were simple and normally easy enough for a genin team to do.
"You aren't going to give us the genin test?" Temari asked. Her father told her about it because just passing a graduation exam wasn't enough to become a genin in Suna. Her dad had raised the quality of his shinobi since the last war to prevent more deaths and to produce better shinobi.
"What are you talking about?" Asuma asked
"A test that comes after the graduation exam. A test that proves if they are truly ready to become genin. The first test in the academy would just be to see who had the potential to pass the second test." Temari said
"We don't have test like that in Konoha. After graduating from the academy, it's the jounin sensei's job to make sure the team is ready by training and going on D ranked missions. After a certain amount of time the sensei is offered a C ranked mission. If the team is ready they take it, if not they get an extension of the time frame. If they aren't ready by that time then they lose their chance to take the chunin exams that year and have to wait for the next year and a minimum of 50 C ranks before you are allowed into the next year's chunin exams. As it stands, you guys need a minimum of 10 before you're allowed into the chunin exams." Asuma said
"That's not too hard. I know we probably won't get them, but how does a B or A ranked mission add into that? Does it the drop the number of C ranks needed?" Sasuke asked. Itachi had told him that anything could happen while on a mission outside the village. A simple C rank can easily become an B or A rank mission for many reasons including client lying about the mission details or luck.
"There necesarily isn't a rule for that, but I would assume it would factor in as a normal C rank. The odds of you getting a mission above C rank before the exams are nonexistent. If unlucky, you'll get a C rank that escalated to a higher ranked mission because of the increased difficulty, but since it started as a C rank it will be labeled as one less that you need instead of wiping out all of the needed missions." Asuma responded
"So what do we do now?" Sasuke asked
"We head to our training ground and start with you guys learning each other's abilities before you start to spar as a team against me. I have faith in you guys entering one of this years chunin exams, but I want to see some good teamwork before I even think about letting you guys take a C ranked mission
