Kat stood and closed the window, giving Dusty several strokes before returning to the centre of the room.

Sitting down with her legs crossed, Dusty joined her.

The cat was strange with his body akin to a night's sky filled with endless stars.

"We have to be careful. Nothing too obvious" Kat whispered, stroking Dusty who purred away.

"Focus. On the lampshade" Kat thought to herself.

Her body began to change in hue, a deep burning red spread across her body and face.

Visible even through her clothes, along with white veins sparking across her hands, feet and face.

Even her eyes had become as white as snow.

Closing her eyes, Kat visualised on the lampshade, Dusty vanished into what appeared to be inside of Kat.

She began to take deep and heavy breaths, slow and steady, all the while she kept the image of the lampshade in her mind.

As seconds went by the lampshade slowly began to shake, as if it had a mind of its own.

Soon after, said object began to lift off the bedside table.

With each passing second that went by, the lampshade floated higher and higher, eventually, Kat imagined suspending the object in mid-air.

The lampshade froze in mid-air, for a good five minutes, before she slowly set the lampshade back down.

Kat's body returned to its former colour, the deep red faded, and the white veins settled. Dusty materialising into the room as Kat let out a heavy breath.

"Seems I can't manipulate objects for very long, especially when compared to my own gravity"

"I don't know how I have my powers, except that I need Dusty to use them" Kat pondered the thought as her eyes began to close.

Kat yawned, crawling into her bed and succumbing to sleep.

The Following Morning

Kat woke up at her usual time of six am sharp. Completely forgetting that she didn't open the window for Dusty to escape during the night.

"Crap, what am I going to do?" Kat began stressing, it was against school policy to have pets on campus.

Dusty took one glance at Kat, before de-materialising out of the room and from what Kat presumed, rematerialized back home.

Kat stood there dumbfounded, "So, I didn't need to open the window for you at all?" Kat was a little irked at Dusty taking Kat for a ride, "Thanks' for making me bring the cold in Dusty"

Kat decided to make use of her free time, walking around the campus and remembering the important things such as bathrooms, classrooms but most importantly.

The cafeteria.

To Kat, it was like being a kid in a candy store for her. Especially with all the five-star gourmet food that was up for grabs.

Kat couldn't wait to have herself a good feast, but that would come later.

Kat had been summoned to the principal's office for unknown reasons, upon arriving the assistant handed Kat her student ID.

She was told explicitly that she must keep hold of it always; it also served as her only method to get in and out of the school grounds.

Kat made a note and headed back to the dorms, changing into her sportswear.

She decided to pack a spare change of clothes in a bag as well, hanging the student ID around her neck, she set off for the gate.

A large four-foot metal gate was rather excessive in terms of height, and the muscular bodyguards on duty were probably a little too much.

"ID please," one of them asked, as Kat showed the ID.

"I mean it's not like I'm wearing your official sportswear or anything but sure go ahead and look" The sarcastic tone only seemed to make the guard chuckle.

"Yeah, it's harder to get the uniforms than it is the ID. Alright, Kat, you take care and be back before curfew" The guard handed the ID back to her and opened the gate.

Arriving in Auldnoir, Kat made her way to the sewers.

A rather clean and dry pipe with a makeshift curtain was there.

"Hey Dusty!" Kat called out and from beyond the curtain poked a starry night coloured cat's head.

He meowed at Kat, before receiving several strokes from the blonde.

Kat stepped behind the curtain, setting the bag down and pulling out some strange clothes and changed.

A black dress that wrapped around her arms, neck and legs rather tightly.

Gold circular decor wrapping around her arms and legs, as well as her torso.

Coupled with black stiletto heels made her outfit complete, well save for one thing.

"Let's do this. Remember, if I don't exert myself too much. I can maintain my power for at least an hour" As if by instinct, Dusty dissipated, and Kat began to change in hue.

Her body humming deep red, white glowing veins once more sprouting across her body.

You couldn't even tell it was Kat, with the way her skin changed colour.

The only downside was the time limit if she runs out of power. Kat can kiss the disguise goodbye.

Kat closed her eyes and began to float, bringing herself out of the pipe.

Defying the laws of physics, she started to fall, upwards.

Eventually, she flew up or, fell up, high enough and dropped herself falling to the ground in the town square of Auldnoir.

People around her backed away in shock and awe, before realising who it was.

"Mum! Look, it's the Gravity Queen!" A young girl screamed eagerly with excitement as she pointed to Kat who waved with a joyful smile.

The young girl felt happy about seeing the Gravity Queen.

"Um, Gravity Queen. I was wondering if you could help me" A man's voice spoke from behind her.

Turning around she found a rather troubled man, "my son, Eugie. I can't find him" The man shows a picture of a blonde-haired boy.

Kat points to the photo with a quizzical look, the man nods.

"This is one of the photos of my son. Would you mind taking it and asking around, I've got to work with the authorities"

Kat smiles and nods taking the photo of the boy called Eugie.

She carefully and slowly lifts herself off the ground and flies off elsewhere.

Checking around Auldnoir pointing to the photo, not one person has seen him.

Kat then flies off back towards Pleajeune, asking around but yields no results.

Kat notices that it's almost been an hour as she begins to feel the power slipping away.

Kat heads back to her old "home" because it couldn't exactly be called a home since it was, in fact, a pipe.

Also, because had to take time to recover before she could look for Eugie.

After recovering, Kat proceeded to check Endestria and Vendecentre.

Only for both searches to come up fruitless.

"Where are you Eugie?" Kat thought as she returned to her pipe to think things through.

The sun was nearly setting just beyond the horizon, Kat was at her limit physically.

Manipulating gravity all day was exhausting, but Kat didn't want to give up, "He has to be somewhere" Kat spoke aloud to herself.

She decided to muster all her strength and pushing herself to the limit, once more she changed in hue, igniting her power once more.

Falling up into the sky, Kat noticed above Auldnoir there was a playground tucked away slightly off centre of the middle of the city.

Kat allowed gravity to pull her down, landing in a spacious area.

Kat looked around, but just like her previous attempts, there was nothing.

Beginning to float, she stopped herself when she heard someone sobbing.

Looking around, Kat could see a children's pipe tunnel.

Floating toward the pipes slowly, trying to conserve what little power she had left, Kat spoke out to the source of the sound.

"Hello?" Speaking into the cold autumn air, vapour escaping her mouth as she breathes, only visible due to the cold night.

A young blonde boy steps out from under the pipe terrified. He was cold and alone; seeing Kat floating off the ground only made him freak out.

The boy backed away into the pipe as Kat slowly floated towards him.

Looking at the photo she realised this boy was Eugie. "Gravity Queen what's wrong?" A voice shouted from behind her.

Turning to see Eugie's father.

Kat pointed to the pipe and the man investigated, seeing his son cry out and hug him made a wave of relief wash over Kat.

"This is why I told you not to run off" He scolded the boy but returned to the warm embrace.

Kat was touched at the heartening reunion.

However, that feeling soon faded when she felt her power fade away. Kat tried to fall into the sky away from here but ended up inside the pipe herself.

Slumping down into the pipe tunnel, Eugie and his father watched as the humming red and white faded away.

Her power completely drained, she was too exhausted to hide who she was. The two looked in wonder as they discovered a side to the Gravity Queen no one else had seen.

"Wait, you change colour? How can you float?" Eugie's father asked as Dusty appeared out of nowhere and announcing said arrival with a righteous and loud meow.

Kat looked down at her lap, "Lady, is this a cat?" Eugie inquired between his snivelling.

"This is Dusty. Ever since I met him. I became the Gravity Queen" Kat replied much to their surprise.

"You do speak then? You should speak more often, it's rude not to reply to people" Eugie's father was now scolding Kat.

"Please don't tell anyone about my identity. I don't want anyone knowing, but I pushed myself further than normal. Glad you are safe Eugie" Kat smiled at the boy who had stopped crying at this point.

"What's your name, young miss?" The father asked as he held his boy's hand.

"My name is Kat, what's yours"

"Aujean. Don't worry. We'll keep your secret, least we can do for your help. Safe journey home Kat the Gravity Queen"

"Safe travels, Eugie and Aujean. Thank you"

Kat watched the pair walk off into the night as she lay there resting.

"Well. At least my secret is safe" Kat stroked Dusty who was curled up on her lap.

I do not own Gravity Rush, that belongs to Sony and its respective creators.

A/N: Sorry, this took so long to get out. I tend to prioritise my other fic over this one.

I do have material for this fic, but updates won't be as frequent as my RWBY fic. I'll try to update this as much as I can.

Let me know what you think and I'll see you next time.
