Chapter 2: The Legend of Conflicting

The wind was strong blowing over the vast field of Windy Hill Zone, a new stage forged from the Sonic Universe by the great and powerful Master Hand. On the stage battling it out was the beautiful princess of the Hyrule Kingdom, Zelda and training with her was her was bestie, the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom, Peach. The two were having a quick sparring match just to keep themselves in shape for the next tournament.

Peach rushed at Zelda with an incoming slap but with a quick duck the hylian princess was able to maneuver the attack. The pointy eared brunette took the advantage and with a sweep kick spinning in a 360 spin the princess managed to trip Peach and as she fell an uppercut was delivered to her stomach, sending the fragile blonde railing across the field. Getting back on her feet, Peach was shocked to see Zelda already forming a fireball in her hands and unleashing a fiery orb of furry towards her heiress.

Summoning her trusty servant Toad from a realm known as hammer-space, she was able to block the fireball strategically, the orb vaporizing leaving her unharmed as well as her toady. Sending him back into the unknown void, Peach quickly charged her Peach Bomber and lunged her behind at Zelda. Catching her off guard, Peach was able to smash into her waist, Zelda collapsing onto the ground painfully.

"That all you got Zeldypoo!" teased Peach snapping her finger.

"No, let's continue!" Zelda proclaimed getting back on her feet.

She charged at the renowned blonde once more and two continued their training session, duking it out. They both were placed pretty high in the previous tournament but like everyone in the manor they were equally shocked to find Bowser being the victor. They weren't against the results though, they actually were happy for the koopa king especially Peach. Finally he redeemed himself and actually won fair and square, a renewed version of the formal scaly villain was born.

They two continued their training for another 10 minutes until a loud voice boomed throughout the stage.

"GAME! 10 MINUTE BREAK!"

Exhausted the two royals fell to their knees finally resting. Beads of sweat were dripping from Zelda's brow relentlessly, her breaths were heavy and body burned from the taxing damage she took from Peach. Why did she have to have such a powerful butt?

"Need a towel?" asked Peach getting on her feet.

Zelda nodded, "Yes, thank you."

Peach giggled, "No problem."

Walking over to the edge of the stage, Peach placed her hand against the hill and suddenly appearing like a mirage was a metal storage cabinet. She opened the metal doors and inside were several supplies, towels, water bottles, a first aid kit, and various health oriented items such as heart containers, fairy bottles, food, etc. She grabbed two towels and water bottles and walked back to her exhausted friend, giving her both one of each.

"Thanks." Zelda said smiling accepting the received items. She wiped her face with her towel finally being able to see clearly from her sweaty face.

"Ah!" Peach exclaimed taking a drink from her water bottle, "That hit the spot! Thanks for coming out to train with me, Zelda."

"Oh it's my pleasure," the brunette replied, "Since Shiek and I split and she's now her own separate being, my fighting potential has been lowered substantially and I don't want to be lacking behind."

Peach smiled slyly, "Yeah, did you know there was an argument whether you were a guy when turning into Shiek?"

The hylian blushed slightly embarrassed, "W-what!? Well of course I was still me! Shiek was just an alter ego persona I created back when Ganon invaded!"

"Well you can't blame anyone for thinking it." Peach laughed, "I mean you voice became deeper, your face looked like a boy. For Eldstar's sake, your chest was even flatter than usual!"

"Well I'm sorry for not being the heavy chested Samus Aran!" Zelda argued folding her arms.

"Oh come now Zeldy, I was joking." the blonde stated rolling her eyes, "Besides thanks to the outfits Wii Fit Trainer gave us to train, you look a chest size bigger."

For their training session today instead of their usual heavy attire of their luxury dresses, they were given tank tops and stretch pants thanks to the Wii Fit Trainer. They were way more comfortable to battle in Zelda's opinion, she can't be slowed down by her dress or worry of tripping. The outfits were a bit revealing though and feeling a bit self-conscious of the local perverts, Master Hand locked the training room for females only so no males can enter the dimension.

"How come that doesn't make me feel any better." Zelda replied.

"It should," Peach said, "You need to go back looking into the dating world!"

Instantly as she said that Zelda immediately turned away from her friend distraught, it has been over six months since Link broke up with her. The reason for it was so random and unsuspecting that Zelda was promptly unprepared for the love of her life to leave so abruptly. The few months have been a struggle, after the tournament she usually stays in her room, laying in her bed sulking of why it happened and what did she do to cause it.

Thanks to the support of her friends, she slowly recuperated but still the thought constantly enters inside her mind.

"Peach," she started slowly, "It's only been six months."

"Do you hear yourself!" Peach argued grabbing her friend by the arms, "Its been more than half a year! That..that..green wearing sleazeball threw you to the curb with that pathetic reasoning he spouted out and your still hung up on him!"

Zelda knew her friend was right but for some reason, deep down inside her she felt that maybe just maybe they could reconcile one day.

"Link and I have been through so much together," Zelda started, "It's not like the memories can be forgotten."

"But they can't be hung onto as well." Peach interjected, "There are so many new guys at the mansion, maybe you should go talk to one of them."

The fruit named princess smiled greatly holding her face sheepishly, "Some are really cute ya know. Aww too bad I'm with Mario though." she sighed.

"Maybe.." Zelda replied doubtfully.

Meanwhile arriving outside the manor was the busted Wario Mobile, it's black smoke engulfing the air with a powerful fume. The ride to the mansion was roughly 10 minutes away from town and with that small amount of time, Red and his partner Ruby was able to get to to know their new friend, Mona.

Through her they were able to learn that even more fighters have arrived to the Smashverse from dimensions that were thought to be unexisting. Many champions have been declared over the years and just like the two trainers, all the smashers have become incredibly stronger. Exiting the disposable vehicle, Red looked at the once manor he resided long ago. This brought back several memories, his time with the others, the adventure of Subspace Emissary, and the final tournament he pariticpated in. Each great memories but several bad one as well.

"Well my dearest travelers welcome to the Smash Mansion!" Mona announced.

"This place is just magnificant." Ruby spoke, his eyes sparkling looking at the gargantuant manor. "You stayed here Red?"

"Yeah but it looks like its gotten even bigger." the trainer proclaimed.

"Of course," Mona spoke getting out of the car, "Like I said before several more fighter are here now."

"We'll see just how many there are." Red said.

The group walked up to the double doors of the mansion and with a loud knock they banged on the entrance. It took a minute for someone to respond but answering it was the Robotic Operating Buddy, R.O.B.

"Why hello Ms. Mona," R.O.B greeted, "Back from your trip with Master Wario?"

"Hopefully," Mona sighed, "I'm sure he'll be back soon."

"Indeed."

"Hey R.O.B, long time no see." Red smiled, the colored named trainer remembered R.O.B easily. The minature robot was once seen as the Ancient Minister a long time ago as an evil dictator but his true colors were revealed soon later as a peacekeeper. He became basically the mansion's bulter since the whole Subspace Emissary fiasco.

R.O.B's scanners blinked twice when seeing Red then suddenly the robot almost lost his circuits. He could barely recognize Red even with his identity recorder built inside him.

"Oh my Master Red is that you!?" R.O.B exclaimed his arms throttering in a circle from excitement.

"Yup," the trainer laughed, "I'm back. How's it been metal head?"

"Swell just swell, Master Red. It's been so long since I last saw you."

The robot looked over and saw Ruby staring at him dumbfoundly, "Who is your friend here?"

"Oh this is my friend, Ruby." Red introduced.

The white caped trainer stared at the robot with disbelief, "H-hey.."

Mona giggled, "Cat got your tongue?"

"N-no!" Ruby stated, "I just never saw a robot before."

Red rose an eyebrow, "Yes you have. You've seen Magnemite and Voltorbs, and Polygons, and..."

"Talking robots." Ruby told.

"It's no problem, I have received a lot of the same comments from several of the new smashers residing in the mansion now, Master Ruby." R.O.B explained.

The robot opened the doors for the group to enter and wheeled away into the mansion.

"I will tell Master of your return, Master Red." R.O.B said.

"Okay, thanks R.O.B." Red thanked before the robot jetted away to Master Hand's quarters.

Ruby walked around the living entrance of the manor, "That was so weird."

Red laughed following his best friend, "Oh it gets weirder."

"Yeah, like talking foxes, birds, dinosaurs, and.." Mona explained.

"And don't forget heroes!" a voice interrupted.

Out of nowhere a gale of wind blew around the room, the breeze instantly became a hurricane swirling like an intense vortex. After seconds of intense winds, the air condensed itself into one spot and appearing inside the tornado was the hero of time and ex-boyfriend of Zelda, Link. Once the hero appeared the winds subsided in a gigantic burst, rumbling and shaking everything in the room. The hylian warrior's apperance hasn't changed much over the years, maybe because of the slow down time of aging the Smashverse supplies. But he did look a bit older and was now sporting a blue scarf around his neck.

"Always the show off." Red said glaring at the hero.

Link gave the trainer a toothy grin, "See you can't make any new jokes over the past few years, coward."

Red scoffed, "No need for a fancy pants prick like you."

Red could remember Link being one of main fighters here at the mansion that gave him the most trouble in the past. Red actually use to see Link as a role model before arriving, he heard stories from other smashers and Master Hand of him being a noble and self-less swordsman who saved his world time and time again. But when meeting him, he turned out to be a total jerk, he constantly gave a Red a hardtime for being on the sidelines when ordering his pokemon in matches. Just a condescending oppresor who got off on making others feel worse for themselves. Red could never understand what Zelda or even the original 12 saw in this guy.

"A prick am I." Link said walking towards Red, facing the returning fighter face to face.

Red remembered Link being taller than him all those years ago but it seems he tromped the swordsman in height by a good few inches which gave him a sick pleasure inside.

"Can't intimidate me now, green bean." Red mocked standing over the hylian.

"Who is this jerk?" asked Ruby annoyed with their back and forth bantering.

"That's the hero of time, Link." Mona explained, "In his universe he saved his world constantly by a various amount of monsters for decades. He's actually part of the original 12 smashers that participated in the first smash tournament. He's considered a legend in a sense around here."

"But this legend can't even beat a turtle." Red laughed referring to the King of Koopas, Bowser.

Link growled loudly, that match had to be his ultimate blunder and most embarrassing moment he has ever had since arriving here to the Smashverse. That match was unbelievably one sided, even he could tell it was badly in the turtle's favor. Of course he gave a few good swings in but the match wasn't even considered a training session on how fast he was defeated. That day was a emotional scar that left the hero in tatters, training everyday and night to redeem his past honor and defeat the slimy koopa once and for all.

Angrily Link grabbed Red's shirt tugging the trainer to his face, "Don't you dare bring that dirty piece of scum into this you worm!"

Red still composed not effected at the least of the hylian's threat, slapped his hand off his shirt and chuckled lightly. This was better than he could have hoped.

"Is someone angry that the known cowardice Bowser beat him in a fight, how embarassing I bet you couldn't even see Zelda in the eye after that specticale." Red chimed.

Speaking of his ex-girlfriend to the warrior through Link off his rocker, he was sick of this coward's constant insults and words. Faster than the eye could see Link unseathed his blade and placed it underneath Red's neck, both Ruby and Mona distraught of the supposed hero's actions. His honored title as the hero of time was certainly shown in various ways as his attack was so fast it looked as if time had stopped for a second.

"Hey what's the matter with you?!" Ruby yelled getting into a defenseful stance.

"Yeah cut it out Link!" Mona shrieked.

But you know what...

Not only was Mona the vice president of WarioWare but a professional photographer, taking out her camera she zoomed in to focus her lens. This was going to the scoop of the century once everyone is the mansion hears about this.

"Say cheese, supposed hero." she mused cocentrating her camera on the two fighters.

Holding his Master Sword against the trainer's neck, Link was hoping to see fright in Red's eyes, a sign of cowardice or fear but instead he saw something else. What he saw instead was the eyes of a beast. The trainer's red dispecable eyes were as sharp as animal on the hunt and blaze resembled the fierious flames of a dragon. Red grabbed the blade and underneath his hand the blade was seen to begin to emit a bright orange and red glow as if it was being burned against a flame.

"You wanna fight fairy boy, well you got one." Red hissed.

"Now. Now. Is this how you greet a returning friend." a voice boomed across the room.

Everyone turned to see entering the room along side R.O.B, was the creator of the Smashverse, Smashville, the manor they were currently standing in was none other but the god himself, Master Hand. The floating white glove drifted into the living area and loudly chuckled seeing the two smashers clawing at each other's neck.

"Hahaha! Seems like somethings never change!" the hand boasted loudly.

"Um..who is that?" Ruby asked once again flabbergasted at the apperance of the god of the entire Smashverse.

"That's Master Hand," Mona explained, "He's the creator of everything you see here. He founded the smash tournaments and is responsible for registering those he see to be honored with title, smasher."

This was hard for Ruby to swallow, he has seen many and I mean many strange things in his life. Pokemon come in all shape and sizes, on his travels with Red, they were even able to see the god of their universe, Arceus which resulted in a titantic battle, But this..this was pretty freaky even for him. Link returned his sword to his sweath and bowed to his god.

"Suck up." Red said folding his arms.

"If you boys want a fight why didn't you say so." Master Hand said, "I can make arrangements."

"But Master, I thought all matches were prohibited until next year?" R.O.B interjected emotionless.

"As long as I give permission then its fine." the god said.

With his large finger he pointed at Red, "It's been sometime Red, I'm using this match only to see your progesstion over theses passing years. I can tell you changed in more ways than one."

Red smiled, "Thank you, Master Hand. I won't let you down."

Back in the fighting simulator, Peach and Zelda's training session was suddenly held at a pause and the stage around them quickly evaporated back into the empty four walled white room. Alarms rang all over the mansion, wailing loudly for all smashers to hear. The two princesses were both puzzled, something like this has never happened before. What was going on, was a new enemy attacking the mansion? A new threat?

"Umm, what's going on?" Peach asked.

"I'm just as confused as you are." Zelda stated annoyed at her friend's question.

"ATTENTION ALL SMASHERS! ATTENTION ALL SMASHERS!" the intercom rang, "PLEASE COME TO THE TOURNAMENT GROUNDS IMMEDIATELY! I NEW MATCH HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED! NO EXCUSES, EVERYONE MUST ATTEND!"

"A match?" questioned Peach, "With who?"

"THE MATCH IS AGAINST THE SECOND PLACED SMASHER FROM THE PREVIOUS TOURNAMENT, LINK! AND HIS OPPONENT IS THE LONG RETURNING FIGHTER AFTER BEING ABSENT OVER SIX YEARS, RED!"

Hey everyone OMEGARUBY here! Yes, this my new story and first romance story too. I know there isn't any romance at the moment but I promise the fire will spark soon between the love birds. Depending on how much I type next chapter we may find out the reason why Link broke up with Zelda and we will find out how both Red and Ruby gained theses new abilities!

Also I thought I might give you some info of the smasher's age since it has been six years since Brawl. Also keep in mind that when in the Smashverse, everyone age very slowly compared to the aging process in our world. The only reason why Red aged so much compared to the other smashers is because he was not in the Smashverse for 6 years so he aged normally. And if your curious of Red's new appearance I will explain it in details next chapter but for Ruby his appearance is based on his new appearance in OmegaRuby and AquaSapphire. Personally I'm not a big fan of his new appearance but I think I can make him look more unique lol.
