The grass crunches under my feet as a make my way to the Fuchsia City gym. I haven't been inside the gym for a long time. I push the doors open and notice something. It's black. No light in the gym what-so-ever. I walk forward and bump into what felt like a wall. I decide to go left and it seems it works. I then bump into another wall and realize that I'm at a dead end.
"Dammit!" I yell inside my head. I can't see anything and I don't know how far it'll be until I reach Koga. I decide to send out Scyther to help me out. Scyther starts to walk back to the beginning and I follow. We then go right and bump into a wall, but this time we make a left and it works. I begin to feel more at ease with my Scyther out. We quickly begin to get through the maze.
I get the feeling I'm being watched after a short time of nearly completing this maze (or so I assumed). I ignore it and move forward. It seems like a long time had passed since we started and it probably has. Time flies by fast when you aren't bored. I stop and call for Scyther and it walks back to where my voice is and put it back in its ball.
The lights suddenly turn on blinding my eyes for a while. I let out a cry of pain as I wait for my eyes to adjust to the sudden change. I look and see Koga and another person looking at me with eyes of surprise.
"Could it be?" Koga asked with amazement. He seemed like he remembered me even though I wasn't entirely recognizable from the last time we met. He grabs my face rather rudely and examines it.
"Could you let go of my face, Koga? I ask him.
"Well I'll be damned. It's John, former advisor to Giovanni. What brings you here?"
"I want to battle you. I want to test my Scyther's power." I reply.
He thought for a moment.
"Janine, you will watch this battle." He said to the young lady.
"Yes, father." She replies. I didn't know Koga had a daughter. I thought of another idea that would help me along the way.
"Koga. Let's make this interesting. If I win, you will join me on my journey to regain a normal life. If you win, I win become a worker at your gym and work for free. Whadda say?" I said. I didn't want to force Koga into anything because he is quite sly, but I did want to coax him a bit.
He thought again and this time it was long and hard.
"Who will take care of the gym if you win?" He asked. I look at his daughter and smile.
"Your daughter could do it." I answer. She blushes a little when I say that. Koga looks at his daughter and nods his head in agreement.
"Fine. I will accept your challenge. We will each use one Pokemon. Since I went through something similar to what you did, I no longer use a poison type currently." He said and ends with a big smile.
He takes out an ultra ball and I take out my cherish ball.
"Go! Scyther!" I yell as I throw the ball and Scyther pops out.
"Go Chansey!" Koga yelled and a Chansey pops out of his.
The battle is about to begin….
