Silence filled the room as the note was read aloud. When I finished reading the note, I dropped it, watching as it fluttered to the ground. "We have to get out of this place," I said. There was no argument. Nobody wanted the get taken by the creature that drove this teenager into insanity and suicide. "I will check if it's gone," Cooper said as he moved to the door. He listened, then slowly cracked the door open to look outside. "Coast is clear," he said turning to us. Suddenly the door flew open behind Cooper, and he was picked up by a tentacle coming from the creatures back. We all rushed forward but the creature was faster. It rushed away with Cooper in its grasp. We knew it was pointless. We stopped chasing after the monster that took our friend away. We couldn't see it anymore, but we did hear Cooper's terrified screams. Until a faint crack echoed off the trees, then he stopped. We were all on the verge of tears because we just watched our friend get taken away to his death. But we had no time to cry.
We ran. We ran as fast as we could. None of us knew how long it would take the creature to pursue us again. We decided to stop to catch our breath. "Where the hell is the fence?" John asked in between breaths. "I don't know…" Jess replied. "How far in the woods did we go?" Kate asked while looking around. "Wait…" I interrupted. "What is that noise?" We all heard it now. A rustling noise coming from some bushes about 13 meters away. We all froze. We almost bolted until we saw a girl stumble out. She looked around the same age of the girl we saw earlier. Her clothes were ripped up, and she was bleeding badly. She was mumbling something. We watched her stumble towards us. When she got close enough, I could hear she was saying, "nowhere to hide." She got about 5 meters away from us before collapsing. A pool of blood formed around her. "Oh my god…" Jessica said. "Let's go…" Kate said. We turned away and started walking. Soon we will end up like them… I thought. No… we will make it out of this…
An hour passed, and we still had no sight of the fence. We were all tired, so we sat down. "Which way should we go? I feel like we have been walking in circles…" John said. "I don't know…" Jess said. "We need rest…" Kate said. "You guys rest. I will keep watch," I said. "Are you sure?" John said. "Yeah I'm sure." I replied. I sat up as my friends slept, surrounded by my thoughts. It was around 2 hours before I heard anything, but then I heard the snapping of twigs. "Guys wake up," I whispered. "What? Did you see something?" Kate asked. "No, I heard some branches snap." John looked at me, "Where?" I pointed in the direction I heard the noises from. "That way," I said. "Let's go" Jess said, "I don't want to find out what snapped those twigs. We speed walked away quickly until we were far enough away that we thought we could just walk. I was walking in front while my three friends were behind me, Until Kate walked next to me. I looked over at her. Instead of looking back at me she grabbed my hand. I felt my face grow warm, and I could tell I was blushing so I looked ahead, feeling comfort with the warmth coming from Kate's hand in mine. We will make it out of this… I hope
