Chapter 2: The Arrival

Ruby's POV

Next Morning

I was currently in the locker room, assembling my gear and preparing for the initiation into Beacon Academy when Yang noticed and called out to me.

"So, you seem awfully chipper this morning" she said, her tone audibly exited. I whole heartedly agreed and so I decided to voice why:

"Yep, no more awkward small talk or 'getting to know you' stuff. Today I get to let my sweetheart do the talking" I replied with a chipper attitude, whilst hugging crescent rose. But yang being the person that she is brought it all crashing down around me by reminding me that she "won't be the only one taking part in the only one taking part in the initiation.", and that if I "want to grow up then I'm going to have to meet new people and learn to work together" , to which I audibly groaned. With a pained response, I said

"You sound like dad. Okay first of all: what does meeting people have to do with fighting? And secondly, I don't need people to help me grow up. I. Drink. Milk!" I protested confidently, but of course Yang had a counter which was "but what about when we form teams?"

This caught me of guard because I could have sworn... but she wouldn't, would she?

"My dearest sister Yang, are you implying that you do not wish to be on the same team as me!?" When she said no but she thought that it was a way to help me break out of my shell, oh was I angry at Yang and I began ranting and I must have blacked out because the next thing I remember was Glynda Goodwitch's voice coming over the speakers telling us to report to Beacon cliff for initiation.

Ozpin's POV

After the start of initiation

"Are you sure that allowing the initiation to proceed is the best course of action Ozpin?" Glynda protested, obviously agitated about something.

"Yes, I'm sure of this. I doubt that anything will go wrong with the initiation" I replied in my calm attitude which didn't bode well with Glynda.

"OZPIN! There was an unknown event in space directly above the Emerald Forest. How can you be so sure that the initiates will be safe?" This was literally the same argument she used the twenty times we argued about this.

"Glynda I'm so sure because we have yet to detect anything that could have originated from the anomaly…" a faint buzzing could be herd originating from my pocket, pulling out my scroll I looked to the top to see the caller ID read as Prof. Slate. Answering the call, I announced myself "This is Ozpin, what do you need? Professor Slate". There was silence, until a clearly nervous voice replied with two words "Look up."

Ruby's POV

Moments Earlier

"- Just jump" I let go of the Elder Nevermore that I was using as transport only to faintly hear Weiss (or as I prefer princess) yell

"WHAT ARE YOU, INSANE!"

'If only she knew how insane… no not insane… over excitable and maybe a little crazy but not insane, pfft don't be daft.' I thought to myself. As I was plummeting towards the ground twisting around in free fall, I saw Yang and Blake below me, so I yelled the only logical thing that a person would yell: "HEADS UP!" However, to my painful surprise I did not hit the ground, instead vomit boy hit me mid-air sending me careering towards a tree. All I could see was little puppy's and stars spinning around for a few seconds until I regained my senses, seeing Jaune hanging upside down in the tree right next to where I was sitting. He had me on the edge of erupting in to what I felt would be a never-ending fit of laughter. After realising I was just sitting there, I got up and saw a red-haired girl dressed in red running out of the forest, only for a Deathstalker to come thundering out of the forest, sending trees flying in its wake. My response was what one would expect "Whoa!" I then zip off towards Yang's side. Calling out each other's name we were about to hi-five when a pink over energetic girl jumped between us shouting "Nora!". After Blake made a remark about the red warrior and the Deathstalker chasing her, Yang literally exploded in anger with all the chaos, after which there was two seconds of silence before Weiss decided to fall from the Elder Nevermore's talon and was sent plummeting towards Remnant. Upon getting close to the ground, Jaune appeared and started to cradle Weiss (much to my amusement). Then, they started plummeting to the ground: Jaune landing first with Weiss landing on his back. Then the girl in red was hit and ended up sliding along the ground coming to a halt in front of us. Seeing the challenge, I took it calling out "I got this" to everyone. I charged head first to the Deathstalker only to get swatted away by one of its claws. I finally realised to late that I was outmatched, so I fired a round into the face plate of the Deathstalker, propelling me backwards. Turning mid-air so when I hit the ground I did so running, I caught a glimpse of the Elder Nevermore circling around to attack me. When I started running, I did an over the shoulder check to confirm the Nevermore's location only to see it ready an attack and send a large number of razor-sharp feathers in my direction. Out running the first few I had hope, that was until I was pulled off my feet because a feather impaled my cape then the ground as well. I heard my sister scream "Ruby!" in an attempt to distract me from the certain death. Behind me that was, until a roar that sounded like an Ursa Major on performance enhancers filled the air alongside a large booming sound that came from above. I looked up to see a huge ball of fire coming towards me but not at me. It was heading towards the Deathstalker! And just like that I was whipped off my feet, still held in place by my cape. After the wind died down, I noticed that the Elder Nevermore was plummeting to the ground whilst starting to disintegrate. Upon hitting the ground, a mysterious man… robot… thing clad in red, black and grey stepped off the Nevermore's head with a glowing blue sword in one hand that seemed to have blue wisps of some kind emanating from it. He then proceeded to push the sword into his left palm when it was horizontally in front of him. I turned away expecting to see blood, but nothing emerged. The sword had disappeared. As this really tall man approached, I curled up in a ball scared for my life, only for him to walk to the crater and look at it. He gave of a disappointed and angry vibe, then I watched in horror as a gigantic black and white thing appeared from the crater and looked at me then the feather. When he nodded, I realised they were communicating somehow? It walked over to the feather and pulled it out like it was nothing, throwing it to the side it of us then offered me a hand. I was cautious at first but took it and he helped me up. Taking a step back afterwards and looking towards the other thing, a bunch of questions ran through my head. What are they? Are they Grimm? Or something else...

A/N: Hello readers I would like to address a few things before the end. First off upload schedule, I will try to aim for every Saturday however this may not be possible due to factors like work and college delaying the writing. Secondly the looks of the Warframes I have envisioned Excalibur wearing the default coloured APEX skin, and Rhino wearing the PALATINE skin with the primary and secondary colours being Black and the tertiary and accents being white to make them resemble Grim. However, Garuda's looks are undecided mainly because I play Warframe on PS4 and we have yet to receive the Fortuna update so please comment if you have any ideas for them.
