Kanari shied away from Pip as he came up behind her. Seras glared at the man. "I said to leave her alone," she snapped, feeling Kanari's hands latch onto her arm. The young fox girl's tails began to curl around her again, showing she was terrified. Seras sighed, she was trying to make Kanari more comfortable around the men but it wasn't working. The shy girl wouldn't stray from the vampire's side. Alucard was watching with an amused look. He walked over to the two females and touched Kanari's shoulder. The girl jumped, her long hair poofed up, the fur on her tails standing on end. She swiped at his hand, growling. He snickered, "Looks like the little fox has some bite!" Kanari blushed and looked at her feet. "Master! Please don't pick on Kanari," Seras sighed, feeling Kanari's grip tighten on her arm. Alucard gave the two a flat look. Kanari whimpered, hiding her face in Seras's arm. Seras sighed, gently detaching the girl. "Master you take her; I have to go train," she said, gently pushing Kanari towards her master. The older vampire grabbed the kitsune's shoulders steering her away from the men.

Kanari followed Alucard closely, one small hand latched onto his sleeve. Her tails were moving slowly behind her. She was still uneasy, but more relaxed near someone she knew. Alucard sighed and glanced at the girl. Kanari's long hair was pulled into a loose ponytail at the side of her head, just below her ear. She was wearing a pair of black slacks and a dark blue blouse. Master must have loaned the clothes to her, Alucard thought. The blouse was a little big on the young woman. So were the slacks. "Alucard-san where are we going?" Kanari asked shyly. "We're going to get you out fitted with a weapon," Alucard replied. "Oh," Kanari whispered. "What? Not fond of fighting?" he sneered. "Not really…battle makes bad things happen," she whispered the last part softly. "What bad things?" he asked, curious. "They have a chance to find me," Kanari whimpered. "They?" he asked. "Other youkai…like the snake," she mumbled. "Why do they come after you?" "I can purify them," she said. "What?" "I can purify youkai, even though I am a youkai," she whispered. "Huh, interesting," Alucard said. Kanari blinked at him. He's not like the others. He didn't call me a traitor to youkai, he just accepted it! Kanari thought. "You coming?" he snapped. "Sorry!" she yelped, rushing after him.

Kanari stared in awe at the weapons room. "Whoa," she whispered. "Impressed?" he teased. Kanari made a face at him, momentarily forgetting her shyness. Alucard chuckled. He motions the girl over to him. He picked a pistol and made sure it'd fit in her small hand. "Good, I was worried wha didn't have anything small enough that was effective," he said. "Hey! It's not my fault I'm little! I haven't gotten my marks yet okay!" she snapped. Then looked confused. "Marks? What's that?" he asked. "Um…I think that Marks are what tells if a demon is mature or not. Since I haven't gotten mine yet, I'm not full grown. Not only that but my tails haven't finished splitting into nine," she explained. "Nine tails?" "Hai, Baa-chan said that I was one of the last nine tailed kitsune. The others died out long ago," she whispered. "When my tail split the first time, it hurts so much, I blacked out. I got used to it over the years and eventually learned that my tails split every five years," she finished. "Every five years?" "Youkai live a very long time, just like vampires. Technically I'm still a little kit to a youkai. I look like an adolescent to mortals but I'm not," she said. "Look, I don't even have my lower canines in yet!" she opened her mouth and Alucard could see two tiny canines peeking out from her top lip. There weren't any on her bottom jaw. "Huh, you're really just a little kid huh?" "Kit. Young fox youkai are kits," she corrected. He blinked at her, that response had been automatic, as had her explanation. Did she know those things instinctively? Or did someone teach her. He asked her. "I don't know…when you asked…there was a voice explaining it to me, telling me what to tell you," she said, frowning. Alucard stared at the fox girl. She blinked back. "Weird," Alucard muttered. Kanari's tails lashed at the air behind her, "Hey!" Alucard snickered at the indignant look on her face. Kanari huffed, crossing her arms irritably, "Baka!" "What does that mean?" he said. "Never mind, forget I said anything," Kanari muttered, blushing and looking at her feet. Hm, she went back to being shy. I'll defiantly rile her up again sometime, Alucard thought. Kanari's eyes widened when he simply smirked and tugged a lock of her hair. She yelped, swatting at his hand, hissing and growling. Alucard snickered again; it was too easy to rile the young fox girl up. She huffed again, trying and failing miserably to glare at him. It was ruined by her big eyes. Alucard ruffled her hair, earning a hiss.

Kanari yawned as she curled up on her bed. There was a knock. "Come in!" Kanari replied, sitting up. "Hello Miss Kanari," Walter said, walking in with a tray. Kanari sat up, smiling, "Hello Walter-san!" "Hello Miss. Kanari," he greeted, smiling at the kitsune. Kanari beamed back. "Sir Integra wishes to see you in her office," Walter told her. Kanari nodded, getting up. She smoothed the wrinkles out of her light blue yukata and followed Walter out of her room.

"You wanted to see me, Integra-sama?" Kanari asked. Integra nodded, "Sit." Kanari did, blinking at Integra. "Kanari, I need to know what you can do since you aren't human," Integra said. Kanari nodded, holding her hand out. "Shiro-kitsunebi," she whispered. A small ball of white flame appeared floating over the small palm. Kanari narrowed her eyes and the flame went out. "I can also make illusions, but that's harder than my fox fire," she said. Integra leaned forward, watching as the girl shifted nervously, her tails fanning out around her. "Do you know how to use a weapon?" she asked. Kanari shook her head. "I don't Integra-sama," Kanari replied, fidgeting with her shirt hem. Integra could see how uncomfortable the small girl was. She smiled slightly as Kanari shifted again fiddling with her hands. Alucard entered the room.

"Alucard, you will show Kanari how to use the gun we outfitted her with. Tonight," Integra ordered. "Yes my master," Alucard purred. Kanari blinked but nodded.
