Red

Amelia Pond dreams in red.

There's the red of a bowtie and the red glow of sunset on Venetian water and a red long-sleeved shirt and red high heels and someone's red hair and a red velvet box and the deep blood-red of a Roman cloak.

She can't find the exact shade in her crayons so she skips it, drawing instead indigo blue fields with brilliant gold stars that she colors brightly to make up for the dark midnight sky.

She lets Aunt Sharon think that her dreams are only of blue and gold.

But Amelia Pond dreams in red.
