They each had a childish trait.
L's love for sweets and his fear of dreams.
Mello's love of chocolate, and fear of being alone.
Near's love of toys and his fear of the dark.
But when they're together,
L stays up to watch over them, then gradually falls into a dreamless sleep.
Mello curls up to his two brothers
Nears hug Mello and his bright hair and L's bright eyes are enough to clam his fears.
When they're together the childish traits don't matter.
A/N fear of dreams? Well they're illogical and something as illogical as dreams scares L because they shouldn't exist….
